positive · AI labelView post →I don't think anyone would be brave enough to make it, but we really need a Rebel Ridge/Rambo style movie where a soldier goes on a rampage after ICE kidnaps his wife
neutral · AI labelView post →THE RIP totally rips. Really tasty tough guy shtick backed up by some confident filmmaking. The ideal Netflix movie, in that it would feel at home on cable with commercial breaks (see also: REBEL RIDGE, CARRY-ON). Good enough to get to me click the little heart on Letterboxd. #filmsky
positive · AI labelView post →this new netflix movie REBEL RIDGE? it fucking whips
positive · AI labelView post →I’ve known Jeremy Saulnier for almost 20 years now and loved the FUCK out of REBEL RIDGE. Proud to lose the Emmy to him and that fantastic movie. It really was an amazing honor to be nominated. Congrats to Jeremy and his amazing team!
positive · AI labelView post →REBEL RIDGE has won Best TV Movie at the Emmys.
neutral · AI labelView post →alright I'm gonna try this Rebel Ridge movie, which seems Extremely My Shit one badass man wanders into a town full of corruption? let's do this thing
positive · AI labelView post →and another thing about one of the best movies of 2024 "Rebel Ridge" - when the action kicked in, the movie appeared to stay at 24fps (as opposed to shooting at a lower frame rate to speed up action), didn't drop any frames to make punches land harder, and the shutter angle remained consistent...
positive · AI labelView post →Over at the New York Times, the genre critics were asked to pick their favorite movie from their respective beat. As the action guy, I naturally wrote about Jeremy Saulnier's REBEL RIDGE.
neutral · AI labelView post →And now, the BIG ONE @vulture.com Stunt Awards Nominees for ACTION FILM OF THE YEAR: THE BEEKEEPER THE FALL GUY FURIOSA: A MAD MAX SAGA KILL LIFE AFTER FIGHTING MONKEY MAN ONE MORE SHOT REBEL RIDGE THE SHADOW STRAYS TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN Winners TBA on February 24th!
neutral · AI labelView post →Rewatching it, I'm convinced REBEL RIDGE may be the best Netflix original movie *and* one of the best movies about modern America. It's insane they're not promoting the hell of it in as LANTERNS airs. They'll regret it when Aaron Pierre is cast as James Bond.
positive · AI labelView post →Rewatched Rebel Ridge last night. This might be a perfect movie. youtu.be/gF3gZicntIw?...
positive · AI labelView post →If you're looking for a banger of a new movie tonight, try REBEL RIDGE, the rare Netflix original movie that totally sticks the landing. BLUE RUIN/GREEN ROOM director Jeremy Saulnier is back with a practical-effects, down-to-earth thriller that's more or less a modern FIRST BLOOD, and I loved it.
positive · AI labelView post →Been watching some movies over the holidays and REBEL RIDGE and CARRY-ON were both quite entertaining, solid flicks! (REBEL RIDGE being my fave, though I enjoyed both!). Def recommended! Watched RED ONE too, also a FUN one and def a holiday movie :)
positive · AI labelView post →New Yorkers with great taste shoulder-to-shoulder packed The Paris Theater tonight to see REBEL RIDGE at its unofficial big-screen New York premiere (as I had a feeling they would). The love the crowd had for the film, and Jeremy Saulnier knew no bounds. Loved every second of moderating this talk. ♥️
neutral · AI labelView post →Biden created the asset forfeiture bill. Watch "Rebel Ridge" on Netflix, and realize that almost everything in the movie is legal, thanks to Biden. And yes, this happens to Black folk. A lot.
neutral · AI labelView post →I honestly have no idea what people mean when they say in their video essays: "This looks like a Netflix movie." Which Netflix movie? Glass Onion? I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives in the House? The Irishman? The Rebel Moon films? Rebel Ridge? Extraction? Mank? Chupa? All look different to me. 🤷♂️
neutral · AI labelView post →The best choice for the next Bond is clear. I give you Aaron Pierre. Star of the recent film Rebel Ridge (if you’ve seen it you know I’m right) and the upcoming green lanterns show. And for those unfamiliar, yes he is British, accent and everything.
neutral · AI labelView post →First up: BEST STUNT IN AN ACTION FILM THE FALL GUY (The World Record Car Roll) FURIOSA: A MAD MAX SAGA (Octoboss vs. War Rig) LIFE AFTER FIGHTING (Bren Foster vs. Everyone) REBEL RIDGE (Terry vs. Cops) TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (The Grand Finale)
neutral · AI labelView post →Loooooved REBEL RIDGE. Saulnier continues to make tight, focused, well-written films that are crackling with tension. It's got a lot on its mind, too. Little post here. Enjoy! www.patreon.com/posts/111886...
positive · AI labelView post →Can't wait to watch the new Jeremy Saulnier film out on Netflix called Rebel Ridge. He directed two of the best of the 2010s and instant classics in the revenge/survival genre in Blue Ruin and Green room if you never saw them. Hold the Dark also pretty good.
neutral · AI labelView post →This movie whips so hard, elements of Rebel Ridge, Con Air, O Brother, Sorcerer all in depression era Oregon.
neutral · AI labelView post →#NowWatching REBEL RIDGE (2024). Director: Jeremy Saulnier. Aaron Pierre, Don Johnson. A fan of Saulnier's BLUE RUIN and GREEN ROOM, not sure why I delayed this so long. Former Marine takes on small-town corruption in Netflix's Emmy-winning Best TV Movie. #filmsky 📽
positive · AI labelView post →I'm watching something called Rebel Ridge and if I'm not mistaken this is basically a modern retelling of the original Rambo and I am here for it. I live for a good "you fucked with the absolute wrong person" film.
positive · AI labelView post →Finally watched REBEL RIDGE, and it's a goddamn shame this movie was dropped on Netflix. Looks good, and Aaron Pierre should be everywhere after this thing. Easily the best RAMBO movie since the original FIRST BLOOD movie. Hard to make a thriller about civil asset forfeiture but it pulled it off.
positive · AI labelView post →That Netflix Rebel Ridge movie is pretty fun. I just like Aaron Pierre grabbing guns out of crooked cops’ hands.
positive · AI labelView post →The movie is called Carry-On and it's like a total inversion of Rebel Ridge
neutral · AI labelView post →This was the twist of a great movie about corrupt cops ::: spoiler movie name In Rebel Ridge, the protagonist, a black guy, is trying to get a bag of bail money back from a corrupt police department that enacted civil forfeiture. It often cuts away to the one black woman in the dept who has to drive a shittier car than the rest. Then, we learn there’s an informant to IA inside the dept trying to bring them down. The protagonist figures it’s the black woman. He’s wrong; she betrays him, trying…
neutral · AI labelView post →REBEL RIDGE: v good, but what opens feeling (deliberately) like a politically incendiary film ends up feeling more of a squib. Saulnier takes pains to make clear, through an exposition-heavy conspiracy plot, that he's not blaming cops as a whole, & even obliquely argues for More police funding.
neutral · AI labelView post →Happy #LetterboxdFriday! My #LastFourWatched REBEL RIDGE is a solid, well-made Dad Movie thriller. Personally, I like my thrillers edgier/weirder, but it's a bit depressing that the movie was dumped on Netflix without much fanfare.
neutral · AI labelView post →I reviewed REBEL RIDGE, a grimy little conspiracy thriller that pulls too many punches. Weirdly innocent movie to have come from Saulnier, but fun tension, good action, good leads. www.patreon.com/posts/111762...
unlabelledView post →Netflix needs to stick to mid budget action movie like Rebel Ridge and Carry-on. They do so well in those types of movies and fail miserably with the rest.
unlabelledView post →Plus we have a Green Lantern show this weekend with that guy from Rebel Ridge? Rebel Ridge is my favorite genre of movie: the studio ripoff. It’s just First Blood. I love it. Bitch, I’m blessed
unlabelledView post →REBEL RIDGE was a top ten of 2024 film for me. Get tickets if you’re in NYC to catch it on the big screen.
unlabelledView post →TODAY: @milesklee.bsky.social on the thrilling Rebel Ridge, a very different kind of “man pushed to his limits” shoot-em-up movie. “Each of their confrontations is another pressure-cooker, fraught with latent politics and fear of lethal authoritarian whims.” flaminghydra.com/revenge-revi...
unlabelledView post →‘Rebel Ridge’ starring Aaron Pierre has won Outstanding Television Movie at the Emmys. 🔔: You can watch the film right now on Netflix!
unlabelledView post →Let me also recommend to you Rebel Ridge, a film which is only prevented from being this by not getting the budget.
unlabelledView post →Finally caught up to REBEL RIDGE. This film goes so hard and the score in every scene had my palms cold and sweaty lol. Pulsating and tense. Loved it
unlabelledView post →Finally watched Green Room, which was on my to-watch list since like 2016. Really solid, really intense. A horror movie for sure. Was really interesting to watch it after Rebel Ridge and now I'm curious to check out Blue Ruin
unlabelledView post →Big props to Jeremy Saulnier who wrote and directed Rebel Ridge. Recommend. The film covers so much of what is wrong with US policing, in an action packed drama movie. It also covers the evil and racism in the system vs the individual. I don't think a cop said the N-Word once the whole film.
unlabelledView post →the netflix movie "Rebel Ridge" is like that. cops try to do civil forfeiture on an innocent black man and it goes very poorly for them
unlabelledView post →Rebel Ridge is super cool. Sean Fennessy at the Big Picture called it a Steven Seagal movie with a New Yorker subscription, lol.
unlabelledView post →In case your algorithm doesn't recommend you this film: Watch Rebel Ridge
unlabelledView post →Just watched Rebel Ridge with some friends. That's a darned good movie.
unlabelledView post →After a streak of good and enjoyable movies (Nope, The Boy and the Heron, Rebel Ridge) we have now seen a movie that was neither. 28 Weeks Later was terrible. I am shocked.
unlabelledView post →If you're watching Lanterns and you want more Aaron Pierre in your life do yourself a favor and watch Rebel Ridge. Absolutely brilliant action film with some too tier scenes. Don Johnson as the evil sheriff is perfect.
unlabelledView post →If you're watching and enjoying Lanterns, I HIGHLY recommend the movie Rebel Ridge. Aaron Pierre fucking up a bunch of racists! Don Johnson as the racist sheriff! Mayhem!
unlabelledView post →My adult son (my oldest baby) came over on a rare day off and I made green bean casserole (his favorite) and chicken, and we watched Rebel Ridge, which is a pretty good movie 🎥 💖
unlabelledView post →Was not expecting the climax of a Netflix action movie to feature a narcan tutorial, but holy hell! Rebel Ridge is the ACAB movie of my dreams!
unlabelledView post →I wrote about the trailer a bit ago! “Judging from all this, Rebel Ridge is a movie in the fine tradition of First Blood, Walking Tall, and Road House, where a determined man kicks a whole town's ass.” reason.com/2024/08/08/r...
unlabelledView post →I hope LANTERNS leads more people to REBEL RIDGE, which is the first place I encountered Aaron Pierre. It’s also the first Jeremy Saulnier film that didn’t end with me reaching for a bottle of scotch and thinking humanity was a mistake.
unlabelledView post →I watched Rebel Ridge when it was released on Netflix and it was honestly refreshing to see a film made by people at the apex of their talent, making a narrative that they deeply care about.
unlabelledView post →An executive I met with the other day lost his mind when I told him the queer werewolf revenge thriller I was writing called "Stray Panic," was Rebel Ridge x Ginger Snaps. Ginger Snaps is the best werewolf movie and no one can tell me otherwise.
unlabelledView post →REBEL RIDGE (2024): Love the pragmatic form of corruption present in this film (“We’re breaking the law because we need to turn a profit”). It frames police corruption as subject to bigger social and economic driving forces without letting its villains off the hook for their miscarriages of justice.
unlabelledView post →As one of those New Yorkers with great taste, I had such a blast at this screening of REBEL RIDGE. To see it on the big screen, and to cheer on Aaron Pierre with the rest of the audience, was so much fun. The Q&A with Saulnier was delightful, and @tomilaffly.bsky.social was a terrific moderator.
unlabelledView post →Watching “Rebel Ridge” on Netflix. Five minutes in and I already hope every cop in this movie experiences an unplanned grey matter splatter.
unlabelledView post →Final thoughts: Rebel Ridge is an intelligent and taut southern neo-noir film. An ex-Marine battles corrupt cops while trying to help his cousin, aided by a fearless legal-aid lawyer. It contains the cliches of the genre yet plays them so well as to be exciting and interesting. Well done. #hatm
unlabelledView post →Finally got to "Rebel Ridge", largely because of Aaron Pierre (who's excellent.) Well-directed and shot, impeccably edited. First half I was thinking "Holy Cow, this is a great film!" But the second half was wildly uneven, and the ending fizzled. Still Ranked #24 for my movies of 2024. #filmsky
unlabelledView post →Saulnier has not yet made a bad movie. Even Rebel Ridge, which went into production five years before it came out and had a tumultuous journey getting here, does not look like a troubled production at all.
unlabelledView post →With the trailer for Lanterns dropping, it's worth mentioning that if you haven't seen Rebel Ridge, you should give it a shot. A very well made action thriller, with a star making turn from Aaron Pierre in the lead. The man has PRESENCE and talent. letterboxd.com/film/rebel-r...
