A few years back I played the first couple of levels on a friend's PS3 and recalled it being a fun experience. So when it went on sale for under £2 on Steam I couldn't say no. It holds up exceptionally well for a game from 2008! The stylised graphics look beautiful to this day, and the gameplay manages to feel fresh and unique. Parkouring around the landscape soon becomes second nature -…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played all 3 versions of Myst back to back to back. I think I liked this version the best even thought Myst 2021 is arguably a better experience. realMyst Masterpiece feels more the like original Myst than Myst 2021, and it is closer to the original experience. You still get some of the 90s style and full motion video flavor of the original, but you also get a modern first person control scheme to move around in the world, which is what everyone wanted back in the 90s. Myst 2021 changes a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Classic. I played the original version of this game on a Packard Bell computer with Windows 3.1. The ability to free roam and toggle between walk and run makes this version so much easier to replay. Point and click is still an option for the old-school feel. There are also updated graphics/textures if you change the settings in-game although the visuals were pretty well done even back in the 90s Worth playing if you enjoy solving puzzles that can be pretty challenging. This is basically the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its like the original myst, but instead of clicking randomly and hoping you go in the right direction, you can move freely. peak video game 10/10. I finished the OG myst first and then played this one and let me tell you its so much better.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall impressive narrative with excellent graphics and mechanics - puzzles a little difficult sometimes (but I'm 70); couldn't be bothered with the grind of the Rime age... On to Riven now.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've just finished playing RealMyst (god that had some tricky and sometimes convoluted puzzles), and installed Bloodstained last night. So will hopefully start that later - I've heard good things!

There's even another remake: Myst (2021) which also includes a bundled VR version. So 6 versions of the same game? Is that necessary? Yes! Each remaster/remake has added substantial improvements and I actually went back to try the original Myst from 1993 and also the original realMyst from 2000; games that aren’t even…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The grandfather of all the Escape Rooms out there! Fascinating game! I can only imagine what it was like to play it in 1993 when it first came out. True classic and real gem!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked the game. It's indeed a great classic that inspired games such as Outer Wilds. I love the lack of hand holding. I truly believe games should at least have a setting for hand holding. It can be very frustrating for some, that's understandable, I was in many instances in my playthrough, but for people who likes not having them, there should be an option. This game really encourages the player to explore, experiment, and be curious. I love it. However, it's hard for me to overlook the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's fine. I rate it a 4/10. I think I may have enjoyed it when I was younger, but not so much now. The puzzles are artificially hard. The actual logic in them is relatively simple, but solving them is difficult because you don't know what you are looking for or where to look -- and thus you spend a lot of time wandering around trying to find 'something' that may be useful sometime in the future. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it's quite tedious, and it's not what I want in a puzzle…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After playing the original game, i was afraid that i wont like this newer version as well. But it seems that i just didnt like the mechanic of the game. This game was really nice and more intuitive then the original. I liked it very much and the puzzles where really nice and a bit tricky too. If you didnt like the original, give this version a go. I can highly recommend it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →MYST is the gold standard in games. If you have never experienced the joy of playing this game - or Riven, which is the pinnacle of the MYST series - what are you waiting for? I can still remember the very first time I played this game. I was blown away by the graphics, the sound quality, but more than anything the quality of the game play, the intricacy of the puzzles, and the richness of the story structure. The MYST franchise has held up beautifully through the years. Kudos to the CYAN…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great game, I have no nostalgia for Myst (some for Riven) but still loved wandering through the various dreamlike worlds. The puzzles are generally easy if you're used to more modern fare and there will often be plenty of hints within the world, you just need to remember to note them down the second you see them. Steam has built-in notes now, btw, which also supports screenshots. If this isn't enough, there's a built-in hint guide that thankfully gives you a large number of pointers before…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good update for its time. But I would play the newer 2020 version of Myst if your going to play one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good puzzle game that’s somewhat brought down by the terrible controls. I played it in free mode, so it’s possible that in the classic version they’re not as bad. Even then, I still enjoyed my time with it. However, I’d recommend checking out the other two versions of the game to see if they better fit what you’re looking for (whether in terms of price or graphics) before picking this one up. The only issue I had playing it on Linux with Proton (9.0-4) was that the mouse often wouldn’t lock…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Am I biased because I played this with my father and brother as a kid? Definitely. But if you like puzzle games and older, genre defining games, Myst is a great one to play. The puzzles themselves still hold up, in my opinion, and the environmental storytelling is so interesting and fun. This game truly kickstarted my love of world building and has had a huge influence on how I think about storytelling. The atmosphere is just so wonderful.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really cool MYSTterious atmosphere
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A 10 year-old remaster of a 24 year-old remake of a 31 year-old game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a whole lot to say about this version of Myst, to be honest. It's not the original, but it's not the newest version with the nicest graphics either. The main thing this version has going for it is that it's got real-time graphics, but also has a point-and-click movement option, which for some reason was left out of the 2021 remake. It's also a bit more loyal to the original than the 2021 version is. The "magic" aesthetic hasn't been replaced with more mechanized versions like in the 2021…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →IDK if they changed it for RealMyst but in the original you could finish the game without doing ANY of the Ages
unlabelledView post →I decided to play Myst too since I never played anything besides Uru. I had fun! #videogames #gaming #myst #realmyst
unlabelledView post →Believe it or not, the negative reviews are criticizing the Unity engine visuals and awkward 3D controls! It seem RealMyst used an older engine, while the Masterpiece version used a new game engine with too many modern "photorealistic" quirks, thus losing the charm.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game and have gone back to play it again. I like puzzle solving, I love the environment and the music
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun for the most part. I liked the fact that I had to take notes and connect some dots to solve the puzzles. I disliked the submarine and some lack of direction.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →first experience with the series started here (mystcraft haphazardly thrown in old minecraft modpacks does NOT count) and I enjoyed it, though many of my headaches seem to stem from the 'modernization' of an old-school point and click adventure game. TL;DR: as a first-time player? I would recommend this to others who've never experienced it and don't have the baggage of a previous game experience to compare with. PRAISE: myst seems legendary for a reason and I definitely got to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I last played this 30 years ago, and I got stuck on the clock puzzle back then, too. But, more seriously: it's Myst. It's always been defined by its beautiful setting and air of mystery. It's a must-play for any fans of adventure games. The updated navigation controls are a bit clunky, but they didn't stop me from playing the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it is a good mystery game with lots of fun puzzles.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Myst series never fails to Impress me, I keep going back for more.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best trip you can get back to the 90s. Especially if you like the series Lost, buy it. Impressive how much inspiration the show got from this game at the core.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very difficult puzzle game compared to most. It's very pretty too
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a Myst enthusiast, however I cannot emphasize enough to avoid this version. The idea of night and day in the game is cool, but it is extremely poorly implemented. At night is extremely difficult to see and though there is a flashlight that you can use, that flashlight is so bright that is washes all of the color out of the scenery. There are also a number of minor nuisance bugs that definitely should have been resolved by now. Just save yourself the frustration and get one of the other…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Myst is so epik and kewl. XD Teh weird man, trapped insid the buk, rely frekd me out. (He wus probbly evul and got banishd buy a wizar or sumting idk lol. Da puzzles rly rinkled my smooth briane. And the ages were all so pretty :3 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Books can transport anyone to new realities, like doors into fantastical lands beyond imagination. As the time of writing, Myst is over 30 years old, released in 1993, developed by Cyan Worlds, with the realMyst: Masterpiece Edition released in 2014. This is a classical adventure game, with minimal inventory management, no direct interaction with other characters and yet with a compelling story that is the foundation for sequels and inspiration for books that acted as a prequel to the events…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I finally got around to reading this today. 7th guest holds a special place in my heart as a gaming core memory. The game was very out there for me at 12 years old but the puzzles were great. I remember being at school, ignoring class, drawing chess boards and trying to fit all 8 queens on there. I had no idea about the drama that went on behind the scenes for Trilobyte. I always thought a realtime free movement version like the treatment RealMyst got, would be a lot of fun for revisiting this…
unlabelledView post →As someone who has heard time and time again that Myst is one of the greatest puzzle games of all time, I am very disappointed in it. I was not alive when this game came out so I don't have the benefit of nostalgia on my side so I have to compare it to today's standards. and today this game is very lackluster. Some puzzles are somewhat interesting (mechanical age solution, and all of the lighthouse area) but besides that, none of them are anything special or unique, it really came down to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Also, they added Rime from RealMyst into the game!
unlabelledView post →When the guy gives you a clue in the first video message, the music is too loud and you literally can't hear him. This completely prevented me from progressing in the game. You cannot turn the music down separately from the rest of the audio like you can in the scummvm version.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is not fun, its old to difficult and there are better games out there.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The FOV is super narrow and cannot be increased even with mods or .ini file edits. I can't play the game with the free movement mode without getting motion sickness. If you want a version of Myst with free movement and an adjustable FOV, get the 2021 remake instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →♦ 100% Completion Review ♦ Outline: ▪ It's a remake of the classic game Myst. One of the first computer game phenomenons. An adventure game set it a bizarre world, with a peculiar story to discover, and some unusual puzzles to solve. All presented in full - pre-rendered - 3D, which was remarkable at the time of its original release. How does 'realMYST' hold up? Gameplay: ▪ I've not played the original Myst since its heyday back in in the 90s, so I can't be sure whether or not there have been…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I guess it's a faithful reproduction, but of a, frankly, pretty bad game that doesn't stand up to time. Interesting lore, but the puzzles have obscure answers, red herrings abound.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good game but a lost my save progress
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish there was a neutral option because this is not a bad way to experience Myst, but with the release of the remake in 2021 and the recent update adding Rime, there's really no reason to play RealMyst if you're looking for a full-3D way to play Myst. I guess the only real reason anyone would play this version is if they wanted that kind of experience but were running on a really low-end machine. And if you're wanting a more classic Myst experience, you're better off with Myst: Masterpiece…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a beautiful and immense game. Hundreds of hours of exploring and puzzles! Just perfect!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best of its genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Being able to move around and treat the world like a real place you interact with makes this such an amazing experience. There were multiple times I got stuck and examined subtle details like a power line and got right back on a puzzle's track. Every environment feels lived in and like you're walking through a place with history, especially if you take the time to read the books in the library. Myst rules.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the graphics and games!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →⭐ Rating: 7/10 realMyst: Masterpiece Edition is a visually upgraded version of the classic Myst, offering free-roam movement and enhanced graphics. If you loved the original but wanted a more immersive experience, this is a solid way to revisit the game. Pros: ✅ Beautifully remastered visuals with improved lighting and textures ✅ Free movement (instead of point-and-click) adds to the immersion ✅ The classic Myst puzzles remain as challenging and rewarding as ever ✅ Includes Rime Age, adding…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game made me feel both insane and like the smartest person in the world, 11/10 IGN
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Same game as Myst but with better graphics, still good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A defining classic that holds up after a full generation. I watched my dad play it before I could understand anything about what was going on, now Im showing it to my son, and enjoying it immensely.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Myst is a classic and this version is even better. In fact, I'd just play this one, if you've never played the original, because the original was amazing back in the 90's and truly groundbreaking, but it looks a bit drab compared to all the subsequent games it influenced. This face lift makes it really look awesome again. Time actually changes if you wait around on Myst island in this version and you can use a flashlight to see things better, which is a nice touch. It's the same great…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played the original game (remember, just step by step pictures, no real walking around). Played the 360° version, the VR version. Might even have played it on my tablet. And still I don’t know why I did all this – the game looks amazing, has some kind of „magic“ around it. And still it’s pretty boring, the puzzles are too hard (or maybe I’m too stupid) and the learning curve is a joke. I don’t like this game. Oh, a new version, maybe … 🤣🖖
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played through this classic puzzler several times and still can't remember everything. Each play-through is full of nostalgia and reliving the first time I met the characters and explored the Ages.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Peer into the MYST...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Aside from a few minor flaws, this game is virtually perfect. A major improvement from the original is that you can explore more things. Though not everything new thing has relevance, it's still pretty awesome.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →MYST (and the ages linked from it) are beautiful worlds. Some of them might have some arbitrary or random puzzles but i don't hold that against them. Whether it be art, graphics, atmosphere, story, or something else MYST and the series as a whole is truly one of a kind.
