60 of 100 · most liked firstThis is a review copy*. I'll buy a copy for a friend to support the game. Always a pleasure to play an isometric adventure game, we really don't get that many of them aside from the occasional Brotherhood game, especially with such crispy looking backgrounds, looking very much like a late 90s RPG. Unlike the Beautiful Desolation, this game has a very vanilla post-apocalyptic tone, it's not really trying to be unique in that sense, not too different from Fallout in the presentation, just more…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite enjoyable point n click puzzle adventure based in post apocalyptic Finland. Great cast of memorable characters with Finnish voice acting. Some puzzles were really challenging (for me) but overall very enjoyable experience. This game reminded me of those older Fallout titles, maybe the devs took some inspiration from there idk. Also the price is fair and I'm excited to see what the devs have planned for their next title.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Breaks my heart not liking this one. Rauniot disappointed me, and badly. It’s a shame, because the aesthetic is killer, and I liked the setting. Characters speak frankly about topics in ways where many other studios would mince words, managing to be dark without being edgy. The protagonist directly mentions rapists as being a threat to herself and other women in the post-apocalypse, avoiding the euphemisms and innuendo that are so frequently deployed to soften the blow of the subject matter in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a shame when an excellent idea is poorly executed. The game is visually beautiful and has some good moments. However, the plot, as a whole, is uninteresting and hard to follow, which practically kills an adventure game. The difficulty level is uneven, and some puzzles are unreasonably difficult and illogical. The gameplay is logical and clear but old-fashioned and somewhat clumsy. I can only recommend it to adventure enthusiasts and if it can be purchased at a significant discount.

A very compact point-n-click quest that is not cramped within the given framework. In 6 hours, it manages to tell a story in a post-nuclear world, where there is nothing human left in the people themselves. It is close in spirit to the first games in the Fallout series and space Stasis, while also adding national flavor. The characters are alive on the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm little hesitant to give a thumbs down review, but the end was just that bad imo. Three interesting characters and a good story that had me engaged, until the last 10 minutes... There were so many plot twists that it ended in a knot. The end felt rushed, the story went all over the place and things were happening out of the blue. The end felt a like a slap in the face and my first feeling was that I want my 6 hours back. The game would have benefited from better writing. The point and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought Rauniot because its look and art style reminded me a lot of the game Beautiful Desolation. And I really liked the game's art and moody atmosphere which were a perfect fit to represent the hopelessness of a desolate post-apocalyptic world. Be aware that the story is quite dark, especially its ending(s), which felt more on par with the Stasis games. Rauniot is not a horror game, but some parts of its story are truly horrific. Some puzzles were quite difficult to solve for me and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Man, I wish I could give it a 6/10, but I've got to go with "not recommended". The game is very ambitious, taking some inspiration from the early 80s/90s by introducing some dose of storytelling flexibility and consequences. And in many ways, it tries to express itself with some unusual (though not always great) visual ideas despite its lacking budget. Seeing what works and what doesn’t is already intriguing. And the UI is just so elegant and interesting, with so many sound effects adding to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A short and distinctive indie post-apocalyptic adventure set in the far northern corner of Finland. Though it certainly has its shortcomings, I recommend this game for its unusual atmosphere, original locations, and interesting story. Pros: - Beautifully depressing and very detailed hand-drawn locations. The game features 2D graphics, and the artists have managed to capture the essence of a long-dead world, with dilapidated settings exposed to the elements, time, and scavenging. The color…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great Game, just wanted to leave a positive review they deserve it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun and promising theme. Managed to beat the whole game in about 4 hours. Some of the puzzles are a bit too clunky though. Still, had a lot of fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was thinking back to the indie adventure game Rauniot and how it makes a critical decision that I love: ALL characters talk in Finnish. There are no English VOs, and the game is INFINITELY better for that. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Uim...

Very dark post-apocalyptic atmosphere, mysterious characters. There are a lot of puzzles in the game, and they are excellent, but most importantly, logical. The ending shocked me. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rauniot is not a perfect game - and it would be hard to recommend to people who don't like point and click games, but I was surprised by its commitment to showing the grittier side of the apocalypse. For veterans of the genre, the puzzles are all reasonable. If you're not well-versed in the logic of these types of games, you may struggle however. There's a good "hint" guide that I found online for the 1 puzzle that stumped me, which is helpful as the game itself tends to let you figure stuff…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel like the year this is supposed to be set in isn't very accurately portrayed. The main character particularly feels off in so many ways. Puzzles were neat, but I found myself almost being right too many times and had to use guides to actually finish. It sure was an experience. Not awfully pleasant however.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great vibe, you can feel the eerie desolacion. The dialogue feels like straight from a Aki Kaurismäki movie and ads to the feel of northern Finland with it´s quite prominent accent. 4h in and I can highöy recommend this classic point&click experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very well crafted adventure game. I did not find it too difficult, I got stuck just once. Most probably inspired by Cormac McCarchy's 'The Road'. The game kept me engaged constantly and when finished I felt I wanted to know more about the characters and the world, but at the same time I don't think there's much more to say... It is pretty bleak.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finnish Stasis with better voice acting but at the cost of machine translation. Hot damn! Okay, it's not so much like Stasis once you get past the whole "they're both isometric point-and-click adventure games with really good-looking backgrounds" thing. I hope you like New Vegas Ambervision, because that's both the main color scheme here and the color that objects get highlighted in. That's pretty much my only visual gripe; the rest of the game is fantastic in that category. Special shout-out…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A new wave of Finnish developed video games has been falling from the post-apocalyptical sky for a while now. With the amount of joy, this short but still intriguing game Rauniot can provide and show to the whole world that there are still players who are attracted to isometric click adventures. What really surprised me most was the fully voice acted gameplay through the whole game with English subtitles. Genuinely I felt sad once finishing the game, as I would say this is one of the hidden…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Damn, that was grim! I read some reviews mentioning it's quite dark, but the end still surprised me. A short (~5 hours) but charming game with a great story. One or two occasions where the missing item was (too?) difficult to find and I had to check a walkthrough, but other than those, the puzzles were fun and rewarding. Especially nice was the authenticity of local dialect in the Finnish version. I live near the area where the game was happening, and I really enjoyed listening to it. 10/10…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →POSITIVE POINTS: - Features a unique post-apocalyptic aesthetic, set in the northern parts of Finland. - The environments are very detailed and represent very well the urban disorder we might expect from an end-of-the-world situation. - The story is really interesting and also, Aino, the protagonist, is a character that is very well developed: her self-discovery adds quite a bit of depth to the narrative. - It has puzzles of all weathers, some easier and some harder, but all of them quite…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's basically a well written and good looking post-apocalyptic game but it's just a puzzle game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fteTunvwHd0 Pro: looks great, serious with a side of scarcasm as most northern europe novels, immersive game, very good artwork, horror elements Cons: no tutorial, you will definetly get stuck since it's not clear what is interactible, game is pretty short and limited, no hints on what to do, could have use alternate ways to solve the puzzles, main character looks…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would sadly not recommend this game for this price tag, critical items that were really hard to find without a walkthrough, puzzles that was poorly explained and an ending that I felt was really rushed. Really fun to see a game fully voiced in Finnish though, I hope the developers learn from this and puts out another better game in the future.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wonderful adventure game that will appeal to the old fans with both the visuals and gameplay. The story is not a happy one. As so many times before, it takes place in a world that was devastated by an apocalypse. Humans have turned against one another, deadly pollution has spread, and sea levels have increased, flooding most continents. You follow Aino, a woman on a mission to help a community that has learned to work together while avoiding crime and violence. Because the game is set in…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →cant recommend this game for now, very frustrating, everything is very slow, and every time i double click on the side of the screen the game freezes.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An interesting story with some replayability and challenging puzzles, but a bit short for full prize.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rauniot is a bleak point-and-click puzzle adventure telling a short story about finding a companion. I was drawn in by the art style, especially the small red train engine. The pre-rendered backgrounds and Finnish dialogue add a lot to the post-apocalyptic atmosphere. Some later puzzles felt unfairly hard, and there is occasional pixel hunting. Still, it tells a sad, simple story and scratched a Stasis itch I did not know I had.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good puzzly game with great atmosphere and a nice graphics.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →All I'm gonna say about this game is IT'S GREAT! Love the setting and characters, the challenges involved in navigating the wasteland and trying to accomplish tasks. Highly recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Clearly a game made by Finnish people. Made me sad, but it was fun. Sometimes I did get stuck but answer often was very anti-finnish person way, talk to people.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful design, cruel story, interesting puzzles. It's not stupidly hard, but has its WTF moments
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The setting, atmosphere, ambience are great - and pretty dark, which is logical, considering that the game takes place in post-apocalyptic Lapland (fortunately not in the winter).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thank you to the Developer and Publisher Act Normal Games for creating a rare piece of entertainment that I am still thinking about days after completion. Rauniot(pronounced somewhat like Rawl Knee Knot) which simply means rubble is an isometric post apocalyptic point and click(P/C) game set in Northern Finland. While the game will not convert players into P/C fans, it provides a masterwork in story telling and direction that is not to be missed and one of the best of 2024. In the game you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rauniot has a good post-apocalyptic Lapland feeling, with good soundcape and nice graphics. Finnish voiceovers are a big plus. Good little adventure, that in the end maybe left me wish for a little bit bigger reveal of lore for individual characters and the general situation.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great post-apocalyptic point-and-click game with an intriguing storyline, and well-made puzzles. The amazing soundtrack and fantastic Finnish dubbing give it a unique atmosphere. I highly recommend it, especially to fans of classics like Fallout and Sanitarium. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed Rauniot, and hope it’s successful enough so that Act Normal Games can finance another game. The setting is bleak and realistic 1981 Finland after a nuclear catastrophe coupled with war. The maps are gorgeous and the animations in the isometric view are gratuitous - it’s really fun to watch the protagonist unhook a generator from a gantry crane or repel down a rope. There’s ample cut scenes that are well animated in a realistic style, and the puzzles are of a wonderful…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tosi hyvä peli.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's pretty good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a few hours and on a decent sale it was worth the time and money. The story is decent, the characters ok, and the art style is distinct enough. If you're not interested in this from the start then I'd say don't bother, but if the setting and seeing what the makers wanted to tell with this intrigue you: go for it. Nothing stellar but certainly its own thing. The puzzles are mostly easy enough to keep you engaged. Some items could be pretty hard to spot in the environments. Some…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →, I enjoyed Rauniot, though I may be a bit biased. Playing a game speaking your mother tongue and set nearby will always be more impactful to a local than someone who has no idea what's going on, after all! However, I do think the game had some fun ideas and a retro charm to it that shouldn’t be dismissed, especially since this is the debut title of a very small indie developer. Clocking in at about five hours, Rauniot is not that long and can be played through in a session or two, so if you’re…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely worth of checking out if you enjoy Point and Clicks! 5/5!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Post apocalyptic Lapland with fully voiced characters in Lapland accent was a truly unique experience for someone who is actually from there. Liked: -Difficult but fair puzzles -Graphics -General atmosphere -Kinda sorta Kaurismäki movie vibes where everyone barely speaks and it's always quiet and depressing Didn't like: -The game deliberately wastes your time occasionally -Ending perhaps fell apart a bit for me at least -Lack of options and a bit obtuse menus and such I do hope this team…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The characters and story are fine, the visuals are great despite the heavy use of brown-grey palette. The worldbuilding is lacking and is more on the unrealistic "madmax-y" side though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A diamond in dirt point and click game in post-apocalyptic Finland.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good game with a surprising plot twist! Torille!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Sanitarium vibes are real. This was a fun game to play and judging by the achievements I didn't get I will play it once of twice again. Some puzzles were easy, some were challenging and some were almost impossible. I admit I checked the DLSS puzzle from a guide. The atmosphere is great, the lack of music made it oppressive even. The printer section got me good. I'd recommend this game to anyone who is not consumed and polluted by the ADHD FPS games of this era.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Illegible. No options (and I do mean none, outside of sound volumes.) Unplayable. Scalable fonts, industry standards, best practices... never heard of them at Act Normal Games. Never considered fixing their deficiencies either. Amateur hour, only they want money for it; more than pros, in fact.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Post-apocalyptic gameplay in northern Finland?! What’s not to like about that setup. I liked the graphics and the atmosphere. The story was engaging and made me want to see how it all ended. The puzzles were challenging without being to hard.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game reminds me of the first RPG games like Beneath Steel sky or Blade Runner and brings back my childhood memories. Puzzles can be hard, but managable, art style is 10/10 also audio. Characters could be a bit deeper, but story is good and the game is very atmospheric. However I really missed hotkeys and some journal, even if it's mostly obvious what to do. Overall I recommend this game even on full price. Technically one guy made it and he really deserve support.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I haven’t played a game this intensively for 6 hours straight in a long time. Big props for the Finnish dubbing. The only cons I could really find are the missing autosave feature and the game being just a little too short, in my opinion.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →How about Rauniot? It's not the most uplifting game released this year (maybe the opposite?), but it's unique and fascinating, and perhaps the most Finnish game you'll ever play.

Players assume the role of Aino, a bounty huntress navigating a desolate world filled with remnants of civilization and moral complexities.
