I wrote about her a little bit in my appreciation of Gilberto Gazcón's movie "Rage" (1966) opposite Glenn Ford here: talkhouse.com/bruce-labruc... @talkhouse.bsky.social

Also: A supernatural Wuthering Heights, a Host knock-off, a marmite J-Horror & a flawed but excellent anyway motorspycho thriller! #podcast #filmreview #DTV #horror #scifi

unlabelledView post →Haha YES! Definitely has a Streets of Rage vibe. Damn, now I wish there was a Streets of Rage movie.
unlabelledView post →That is an excellent essay. I do think you could write something similar about Rage, though, which King famously pulled from publication, and I don't necessarily know that De Palma's film conveys those dichotomies the same way.
unlabelledView post →the protagonist in this movie is not named Carrie, which makes the title confusing they should've named it The Rage: Carrie 2 (Rachel 1)
unlabelledView post →Will we ever get a movie adaptation of Rage? Controversy duly note......but considering the heavy incident of hate crimes, gun violence and discrimination retoric on political platforms and the media, this could be the time for that tale to be shown!

I knew I hadn’t actually seen it, but I remember what I made up as if I had.

unlabelledView post →...THE RAGE: CARRIE 2 (which is an underrated film in my opinion. I got the VINEGAR SYNDROME 4K of it, and it was a much better film than I had been lead to believe since it came out, with a few caveats. My review is here: letterboxd.com/dthalliday/f... ) in which the protagonist has more agency.
unlabelledView post →Also while on “Carrie” I remember in 1999 when they released a fucking sequel to original movie.. just 23 years later. It was called “The Rage: Carrie 2” got a full cinematic release.. Amy Irvine reprised her role. It was about Carrie‘s gothy niece or something who had the power.
unlabelledView post →I have read Stephen King's Carrie & seen all the adaptations including The Rage: Carrie 2. It has never been a story that I have loved. The novel is good. The Brian De Palma film is good. I have a soft spot for the 2002 made-for-TV version because I love Angela Bettis. And the 2013 version is fine.
unlabelledView post →In the movie The Rage: Carrie 2, a spear gun directed by Rachel's telekinetic powers graphically shoots off this dude bros testicles, then you see them floating in the pool. He deserved it. I've been thinking about that a lot today.
unlabelledView post →Ok, hear me out. It's cheesy, the acting is all over the place & its efforts as a sequel are minimal at best, but 'The Rage: Carrie 2' is a pretty solid horror movie in its own rights thanks to its coverage on sex obsession & bullying that somehow still feels relevant to this day.

unlabelledView post →Up until now I had never seen The Rage: Carrie 2, and I can’t say I was missing much. The connection to the 1976 movie is so tacked on that it’s honestly laughable, and the movie is so boring for 90% of the runtime until the big freak out happens.

unlabelledView post →Ooh look, it's another revenge thriller. Nicolas Cage stars as a reformed mobster who is forced to go back to his violent ways when his daughter is kidnapped by baddies. It is what it is really, a Nic Cage starrer that does exactly what the plot synopsis suggests. Does it bring anything new to the revenge formula of genre film making? Absolutely not. But on reflection there are very few that have improved upon originals from as far back as Fritz Lang's Fury in 1936. Sure there is more blood…

Now, in order to get her back, he must get the old gang back together and find the people responsible. Yes, there is more to the movie than this, but if you are planning on watching the movie, I won't spoil your fun. However, thats not to say that this is a big and interesting plot, far from it. Normally, I love movies with a twist, but a twist is…
