I love him SO MUCH in this movie, the whole cast is wonderful. Funny, warm, beautifully acted, entertaining as hell. #movies #moviesky #filmsky

unlabelledView post →Starting a rewatch of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Not just an iconic movie in #Pride history, but I was part of the choir on the soundtrack! (No really. We recorded in a tiny studio in Annandale. The music director was the son of Yoram Gross, famous AU animation director)
unlabelledView post →time for another episode of Old Queer Reminisces About The Past!!!! Today I was thinking about a pivotal movie i saw in 1994: Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, w. Guy Pearce, Hugo Weaving, and Terence Stamp. I just came out that year. I had just moved out of my parents house into Toronto's gayborhood.

A few spring to mind because they're in movies I like: Broken Hill, Australia - Wake in Fright, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert Tocopilla, Chile - Where Alejandro Jodorowsky grew up and shot his last two movies. Isle Royale, Michigan - It's an island in a lake with a lake in it that has an island.

unlabelledView post →#TodayInQueerHistory October 14 (1994) Priscilla, Queen of the Desert rides forth, making her theatrical debut in the UK #OTD. The beloved film is based on the adventures of 3 real life queens, Lady Bump, Strykermyer and Cindy Pastel. The film won an Oscar for best costume design.
unlabelledView post →Terence Stamp in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert was the first trans character I ever saw in a movie, and she was there to illustrate the difference between trans women and drag queens for the audience. Then in furry I met trans people around my age, who were not doing the 70s-80s stealth thing.
unlabelledView post →Watching Priscilla Queen of the Desert and I rather doubt that film would be made these days and that is sad. So much ground lost in recent times. Saw the stage show in London years ago and it was the best musical I have seen. Finale was MacArthurs Park and it was simply glorious.

unlabelledView post →I'll probably get roasted for this, but I'll die in the ditch of arguing PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT was Terence Stamp's best film role - his world-exhausted but still empathetic Bernadette just elevated the high camp lunacy swirling around her. Truly less being more. #FilmSky #MovieSky
unlabelledView post →I strongly recommend watching "Priscilla: Queen of the Desert" as a cathartic road trip Aussie comedy palate cleanser.
unlabelledView post →Terence Stamp in THE LIMEY (1999) & THE ADVENTURES OF PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT (1994). The media's all General Zod, but this was such a fine actor who chose his roles very carefully & made every movie he was in more compelling (most recently viewed on TCM, Pasolini’s TEOREMA). RIP at age 87.

unlabelledView post →He did such a wonderful job as Bernadette in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. For a 90s movie featuring a trans woman played by a cis man I was worried about it coming off badly when I first watched it, but it was anything but. He played Bernadette elegantly, with class & sass, & a real dimension of empathy.

unlabelledView post →Priscilla, Queen of the Desert would be the perfect queer movie if it didn't joke about a transwoman getting deadnamed and if didn't have that awful Filipina mail-order bride subplot. But that's the 90s for you.
