Pride & Prejudice
A story of love and life among the landed English gentry during the Georgian era. Mr. Bennet is a gentleman living in Hertfordshire with his overbearing wife and five daughters, but if he dies their house will be inherited by a distant cousin whom they have never met, so the family's future happiness and security is dependent on the daughters making good marriages. unlabelledView post →The strongest argument for the 2005 Pride & Prejudice film being better than the 1995 BBC miniseries is that Elizabeth in the BBC version comes off as far too nice and you don’t get a clear impression of the savagery of her wit
unlabelledView post →I’m tired of all these streaming services. I’m tired of trying to find a movie and either not finding it or finding it behind another paywall subscription to another service. I’ve started buying physical media again. I’m watching Pride & Prejudice when I want to damnit.

unlabelledView post →Adore Jane Austen, but not a fan of costume adaptations. No, not even that one, or that one. But love clever derivations - Clueless my favourite film. Similarly, The Other Bennet Sister is awesome stuff - witty and new. To Pride & Prejudice, as Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead is to Hamlet.

This #PrideAndPrejudiceDay, we're proud to be part of Great Britain the movie, including that lake scene at Lyme Park 😉 Watch the trailer from Visit GREAT Britain: buff.ly/3PV7kME

unlabelledView post →True Story Nine years ago, I asked a girl out on a date & she didn't realize it was a date until the day before, but she still agreed to go. Dinner & a movie. We saw "Pride & Prejudice & Zombies" in a completely empty theater. ... Go figure. lol 1 year later I married my best friend. 💚💛💙

unlabelledView post →From an adaptation perspective, I contend that the closest equivalent to Nolan's Odyssey is the 2005 Pride & Prejudice movie starring Keira Knightley, with Gerwig's 2019 Little Women a close 2nd. However, it will be difficult to make this discussion mainstream due to guys not watching chick flicks.
unlabelledView post →Personally I think we should treat Jon Bernthal more often like a man in a muppet movie. Take him and just tossed him untouched into any period piece. Jon Bernthal in Pride & Prejudice. Jon Bernthal in Robin Hood. Jon Bernthal in Little House on the Prairie.
unlabelledView post →Which Pride & Prejudice adaptation is better, the BBC's 1995 TV series or the 2005 film? 🍿
unlabelledView post →The amount of damage the 2005 Pride & Prejudice did when it convinced both filmmakers and audiences that everyone in a period movie should have uncombed hair and the color palette should range from brown to grey simply cannot be overstated.
unlabelledView post →Started re-reading Pride & Prejudice for the first time in a decade bc I finally saw the Wright film and started laughing out of the gate, Austen undefeated.

unlabelledView post →I want to make a Pride & Prejudice film but specifically as a queer film-maker. To truly do that book justice someone needs to make Pride & Prejudice but it's "what if a dyke and a fag fell in love" that's the way that story is meant to be told and the heteros who have adapted it don't get it
unlabelledView post →#NowWatching PRIDE & PREJUDICE (2005). Director: John Wright. Keira Knightley, Matthew Macfadyen. Those Bennet girls sure are boy crazy, but Oscar nominee Knightley just might be besotted with Tom from SUCCESSION. Rewatching stacked cast in Jane Austen's classic tale. #filmsky 📽
unlabelledView post →Lol, Alan Rickman perfectly embodied his character’s annoyance and frustration, in every movie I’ve seen him in. Pride & Prejudice, Harry Potter, Galaxy Quest…
unlabelledView post →Unprompted movie suggestion: Fire Island. It’s gay Pride & Prejudice that actually bothers to know what it’s doing with queer culture. It’s one of my summer favorites.
unlabelledView post →Does anyone think this is as weird as I do? Matthew Macfadyen was infamously Mr. Darcy in Pride & Prejudice. He also played Georg von Trapp in a non-musical movie about the von Trapp family. The name of the woman who played Agathe von Trapp in that movie? Eliza Bennett.

unlabelledView post →One of the best things that happened to me all week was when I asked bestie what movie she wanted to see tomorrow and she - and she's not a big period drama girlie - asked if I wanted to see the 2005 PRIDE & PREJUDICE. Like, I *always* want to watch that movie. Hello.

unlabelledView post →If I had to pick 1 movie, it would probably be Pride & Prejudice 2005. But I usually prefer a genre rather than a specific film: action movies. The sillier or more bombastic the better. Lately I've been obsessed with The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.

unlabelledView post →Thanks to the horror show just getting started in the Trump 'administration', I will require a steady diet of Jane Austen novel adaptations for the foreseeable future. This week I've inhaled 2 of the best, both from 1995: Pride & Prejudice (series), and Sense & Sensibility (film w/ Emma Thompson).
unlabelledView post →Even though I love movies, I don't have a "comfort movie" tbh, I literally have "comfort concerts" I'll watch all the time for emotional regulation instead of Pride & Prejudice, like a normal person would lmao

unlabelledView post →#Sumluv- I heard the shape of Pride & Prejudice is similar to a dance, which the 2005 film really played on. I don't have enough written of Birds of a Feather to know for sure, but a similar shape could potentially work with the way the story is currently going, but in a different way.

I count only 4.5 good movies on the top list (Pride & Prejudice, Tangled, Brokeback Mountain, Beauty and the Beast; Sound of Music gets a .5 because I don't care for it but acknowledge it's a classic). Das Boot, Rashomon, The Bridge on the River Kwai, The Thing, M, Seven Samurai, and Lawrence of Arabia on the other hand, are all indisputable classics, while Blade Runner 2049 is excellent modern cinema.
