Guess he's playing a womanizing fraudster that fools people into thinking he's awesome. Hey wait wasn't James Franco involved in some sort of controversy? Oh right... The forced 3D sucks too.
unlabelledView post →It's like still being Really into James Franco as a creative force in 2025. "Y'know, man, I just really like Pineapple Express. Just really think Oz the Great and Powerful is an incredible feature film."
unlabelledView post →Wanna talk about how Oz the Great and Powerful (2013) is a bad movie?
unlabelledView post →Ahead of the Wicked movie, we need to all admit that Oz the Great and Powerful was a real solid movie.
unlabelledView post →I really wanted to celebrate the 40th anniversary of my favorite Oz movie; Disney’s Return to Oz (premiered June 21, 1985). I included Master Wix, from the cancelled book series Abadazad; and Finley and China Girl from Oz the Great and Powerful. 🌈🌪️👠 #returntooz #ozian #wizardofoz #disney

unlabelledView post →Busy day, but works done, and it's time for a movie! Tonight's randomly selected movie is... Nice, have never seen this, and have been meaning to for a while! Oz the Great and Powerful, 2013
unlabelledView post →remembering seeing a movie with my grandpa where they played the Oz the Great and Powerful trailer and when Franco gets sucked into a tornado shouting "I haven't done anything with my life yet!" i said "same." and he looked at me and went "what do you mean by that?"
unlabelledView post →Outside of the original 1939 film and Wicked, we've had The Wiz, Return to Oz, Oz The Great and Powerful, Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return, Tom & Jerry and The Wizard of Oz, The Muppets Wizard of Oz, there was even a fucking Oz JRPG for the DS back in the day (I'm not joking, this was a real thing)
unlabelledView post →OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL may be a bad movie - and indeed it’s terrible, ugly, boring, and hamfisted! But it also has the funniest joke I’ve ever seen in a motion picture and that counts for something
unlabelledView post →hubby put on Oz: The Great and Powerful and now my inner film school person wants to eviscerate it
unlabelledView post →Jon M. Chu deserves all the backlash he's getting for how ugly WICKED looks. Even Sam Raimi's OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL (while not a great movie) understood that the world he films needs heightened colors, and lots of 'em. Walter Murch got away with it, because he presented a darker Oz.
unlabelledView post →I kind of felt a similar way about Oz the Great and Powerful. Least favorite Raimi film I've seen.
unlabelledView post →… Wait shit i *forgot* about Oz the Great and Powerful from 2013, disney *did* try it again later Also wow, that was a sam reimi movie…?
unlabelledView post →I've made the analogy all aling between 45 and Oz, the Great and Powerful. But when I saw the movie, I was really struck by how the nuances of Wicked mimicked what we are living through today.
unlabelledView post →Watching a film with my daughter (18). Oz: The Great and Powerful share.google/ovjZXcYGRLto... My son (17) walks in Son: what are you watching? *simultaneously* Daughter: Star Wars. Me: Star Wars. Daughter: 🤦🏼♀️ Me: 🤦🏻♂️
unlabelledView post →Weird fact about me: my biggest exposures to the Oz franchise so far have been Oz the Great and Powerful, the first Wicked movie, and the Muppets Wizard of Oz. I've never properly seen the Judy Garland film. But I did just order the original book!
unlabelledView post →I ended up watching "Oz, The Great and Powerful" before Thanksgiving dinner (I forgot to take pictures). It's a fun movie, but Wicked's origin of the Wicked Witch of the West is better than Oz's woman scorned.
unlabelledView post →The first time I saw an Oz movie in theaters was in 2013, when I saw Sam Raimi’s Oz the Great and Powerful in 3D. When I first saw it, I thought it was a pretty good film. Might revisit it eventually.

unlabelledView post →My guy, Disney has had serious Oz envy in general. Return to Oz The Great Movie Ride Oz the Great and Powerful.
unlabelledView post →I’ve seen Rachel Zegler in I think one thing and she was completely normal in it I bet she *is* bad in Snow White, and I also bet so are most of the performances, because the entire film looks like it was directed by an AI whose primary training data was Oz: The Great and Powerful
unlabelledView post →No no no guys, Dorothy is not the real villain of the Wizard of Oz lore 🙄 that's just a child. Besides, Wicked is not even canon to the lore either, the OG movie that is. It's a revisioned musical prequel, most likely an AU. The real prequel is Oz the Great and Powerful.
unlabelledView post →10-Day Oz Film Fest: Day 3: Oz the Great and Powerful (2013) Not the worst adaptation, but not one of my favorites.
unlabelledView post →"Why is every mediocre/bad movie from ten years ago getting reclaimed now?" Counterpoint: a new Wizard of Oz movie is about to drop and no one has reclaimed or even posted anything about Oz the Great and Powerful
unlabelledView post →Worst film that I saw in a theater, in the past ten years- Oz the Great and Powerful. My friend and I spent close to two hours at a restaurant near my old apartment after this movie, just yelling about how the cast was so under-utilized and the VFX were miserable.
unlabelledView post →Shhh he's my kindred spirit. That being said by default I think of the voice actor's brother James Franco and him being high as fuck in that meh Oz the Great and Powerful movie
unlabelledView post →This reminds me, last weekend we watched Oz the Great and Powerful which is a bad movie. It just is. But my oldest loved it as a kid, and we hadn't seen it in forever and it was on TV. Anyways, it's wild how good the cast is in that movie. How did they get Sam Rami to agree to this? Disney money?
unlabelledView post →There's an irony about Oz: The Great and Powerful film. Sam Raimi would legit be the perfect choice to direct an adaptation, or an amalgamation of elements, of an Oz novel if you were to just do it straight because, it's Oz, you gotta embrace its weirdness and sincerity to the max.
unlabelledView post →Introduce yourself using only one food you refuse to eat, one movie you'll never watch again, and one song you can't stand. Chili Oz the Great and Powerful American Pie (I will actually go into a rage if that song comes on, I hate it so fucking much)
unlabelledView post →Finally got around to unboxing my "Oz The Great and Powerful" China Girl doll... I really liked her character in the movie as she was basically a living porcelain doll. This one is PVC instead of porcelain but she's still very neat.. Only one problem.. They didn't include a doll stand.. 😝🤔💜
unlabelledView post →It cracks me up that after directing a trilogy of Spider-Man movies, Sam Raimi directed a film titled Oz the Great and Powerful. If there was a sequel, it should've been Oz the Great and Responsible to come full circle 😆 #spider-man #moviesky
unlabelledView post →I really enjoyed the movie "Oz The Great and Powerful" (2013)!!!! It had a lot of charm to it and told a great story of Wizard of Oz. The Tornado scene was awesome! The Special Effects was Fantastic! The Two Wicked Witches was just plain mean & hateful! James Franco was great! A must see! :)

Now I'm just sat here thinking about how I wish Raimi got to direct the good script, because imagine if Wicked looked like this:
unlabelledView post →Recent Wicked obsession has me interested in revisiting Oz the Great and Powerful. Haven’t seen it since theaters but the guy is SO overtly a skeeze in both Wicked and the ‘38 film that I’m curious to take a critical eye to how that film approaches making him sympathetic.
unlabelledView post →Just a reminder that Oz the Great and Powerful, a movie you probably saw but definitely don’t remember, made $493 million at the box office.
unlabelledView post →All I know is that apparently on the set of Oz the Great and Powerful they had an expert on the 1939 film and IP who was there telling them what they could do. They had to pick a different shade of green for the wicked witch
unlabelledView post →Oh since it’s being talked about again because of wicked, Oz the Great and Powerful is a misogynistic piece of shit movie with god awful performances from its leads (fuck James Franco)
unlabelledView post →(God, this just reminded me that piece-of-shit Oz The Great And Powerful movie exists, and at least Wicked is better than *that* cynical chickenfried bullshit.)
unlabelledView post →My ★★½ review of Oz the Great and Powerful on Letterboxd boxd.it/7Sgmfr only watched this because I'm trying to finish out Raimi's filmography. It's terrible. Worst Raimi film hands down, by a wiiiiide margin. Can't remember the last time I was watching a movie and just begging for it to end. Sheesh

unlabelledView post →Disney made the last big budget Oz movie, about 10 years ago (Raimi’s OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL). It’s reasonable to expect they’d have a hand in this one, too. I guess Universal outbid them for the rights though.

Same for frame rate. Spider-verse did it artistically with good reason. But this?
