A judge on Friday denied the temporary release of the Dominican man who was shot this month by a federal immigration officer in New York, ruling that he was in stable condition and receiving “appropriate” medical care at a federal jail in Brooklyn. The man, Oscar Belgal, has been in custody since being shot and injured on Oct. 8, when Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents apprehended him while he was in a car with his 5-year-old son.

Cinema 1 was the gold standard--Jane Fonda's Julia played there for so long that it left only when her next movie, Coming Home, took over. Cinema 2 was smaller, artier, cooler. RIP.

What about her makes her important, noteworthy, or culturally relevant? She's a nobody who had a blink-and-you'll-miss-it scene in a movie that won an Oscar. Whoop-de-doo.

It's funny and well paced, the characters are likable and play well off each other, and the production quality is absolutely stellar. Hundreds of people delivered the best work of their careers, elevating what could've been garbage into something special. I'd take _The Mummy_ over half of the Oscar winning movies I've seen over the years.

In the 2020s so far, the Best Picture nominees in my data cut at 9.4 against 15.1 for everything else.
