unlabelledView post →I finally watched Orion and The Dark, and uhhh... The movie could've been shorter ! The storytelling gimmick is sweet n all, but I feel like it would've worked better if it wasn't under the context of 'just a story'... I think that gave them the go signal to just do whatever to resolve the plot lol
unlabelledView post →I got nominated for an Emmy for editing Orion and the Dark!! Better yet, Orion got 7 nominations! Please watch if you haven’t yet it’s on Netflix and was made at DreamWorks, with a script by Charlie Kaufman! I still can’t believe I got to work on a Charlie Kaufman movie!
unlabelledView post →Sean Charmatz, director of the 2024 animated release 'Orion and the Dark' and longtime 'SpongeBob SquarePants' storyboard artist, stopped by for a quick visit with his pup. You never know who might run into at CAM. #OrionandtheDark #SpongeBob #SpongeBobSquarePants #Squidward

unlabelledView post →One thing that's sad about Orion and the Dark is that having Charlie Kaufman writing the script made me think about Anomalisa and how good that movie was...but also that it's now almost 10 years old and time's going way too fast.
unlabelledView post →Are you ready to watch my darkest review yet? Because there's no other way to describe it when the movie I'm talking about literally has the dark as a character! Now on Patreon, come be the first to watch my latest review of Orion and the Dark.
unlabelledView post →In honor of the new Netflix animated movie ORION AND THE DARK, I have ranked every movie written by Charlie Kaufman for Vulture. Very cold take: Most of them are terrific! www.vulture.com/article/best...
unlabelledView post →If INSIDE OUT sort of felt like Pixar's version of a Charlie Kaufman idea, ORION AND THE DARK is like Kaufman doing Pixar. It's cute! My full review at IGN: www.ign.com/articles/ori...
unlabelledView post →It was foolish of me to assume that Orion and the Dark would be a departure for Charlie Kaufman. This delightfully playful family film fits his oeuvre like a glove
unlabelledView post →Now watching Orion and the Dark (2024) So for though I'd say this movie should be called "Orion and the Anxiety Disorder" 😂
unlabelledView post →Final 2024 animated film ranking since I have seen all I ones I want to see 1. The Wild Robot 2. Inside Out 2 3. Orion and the Dark 4. Transformers One 5. Piece By Piece 6. Kung Fu Panda 4 7. Ultraman: Rising 8. That Christmas 9. The Garfield Movie 10. Thelma the Unicorn 11. Moana 2
unlabelledView post →In a last minute choice, watched Orion and the Dark with the 'yote...and what a deeply interesting movie, in both good and weird ways. Visually fantastic all around, though pacing/story/framing...messy and intriguing. Def a trip worth taking, though odd to parse.
unlabelledView post →Based on what I gathered, it failed quite badly. The film managed to only get 8 million streams in its first few days (Orion and the Dark did way better than that) and fell off once That Christmas debuted on there. Despite limited marketing, that was streamed 18 million times in its first week.
unlabelledView post →Watching a kids movie called ORION AND THE DARK and in the first ten minutes there's a solid David Foster Wallace gag and a shoutout to Saul Bass. So I'm enjoying it more than my kid is what I'm saying.
unlabelledView post →ORION AND THE DARK: Charlie Kaufman is one of the few people who could write a film with a throwaway joke about Sundance delivered by *checks notes* Werner Herzog that also finds more transcendent truths. Lovely work, see it on Netflix Friday 📽️ My review: www.inlander.com/screen/orion...
unlabelledView post →So many things get lost in the streaming shuffle, but watching K-POP DEMON HUNTERS reminds me there a few a few banger animated films just hanging out that truly deserve a physical release. Apart from ‘K-Pop,’ THE SEA BEAST & ORION AND THE DARK were similarly great yet seem somewhat forgotten.

unlabelledView post →@jeffcannata.bsky.social @dlchypetrain.bsky.social My 8 year old is home today with the flu. We just watched Orion and the Dark. It's such an amazing film on Netflix. I will recommend it to all the school parents. Thank you for a wonderful #PartingGift
unlabelledView post →I’m gonna say Orion and the Dark! Dreamworks Animation made a Charlie Kaufman movie for kids and Netflix let it get swallowed up by the streaming abyss.
unlabelledView post →Charlie Kaufman has written the screen adaptation for this children’s film on Netflix! (“Orion and the Dark”) I’m loving these quirky kid flicks! Few weeks back, Adam Sandler’s “Leo” made me laugh out loud!
unlabelledView post →If you ever find yourself at a loose end at 9.30 on a Friday night, you could do worse than tune in to my Short-Cuts segment on RNZ Nights. Last Friday, I chatted with Todd Zaner about The Zone of Interest, Drive-Away Dolls (both in cinemas) & animated family film Orion and the Dark (Netflix).
unlabelledView post →Orion and the Dark was a fun film :) - It got a little bit abstract and confusing at the end (I think I see what they were trying to do with the narrative but it did get a bit muddled), but I think it was good and enjoyable and I did like the message it had :D

unlabelledView post →Orion and the Dark was a cute movie with charming characters and good animation and I don't know why Dreamworks didn't release it in theaters.
unlabelledView post →Orion and the Dark 🌕🌕🌕🌖🌑 A Dreamworks movie.. written by Charlie Kaufman.. exploring anxiety, our fears & our worries in life. While mature in theme, it never talks down to a younger audience.. 82% #OrionAndTheDark youtu.be/cScAQ2O26Y4?...
unlabelledView post →So like the new film written by Charlie Kaufman, "Orion and the Dark", came out on Netflix 6 days ago but no one is talking about it????????? WTF I hate how Netflix releases films without telling anyone. One of the worst companies with how little it cares about art. 📽️
unlabelledView post →7. Orion and the Dark A visually creative film with fun voice work and great designs, though it suffers from feeling a bit too formulaic halfway through. A couple elements felt rushed in the third act, especially for a Charlie Kaufman script, but it's still a pretty decent time.
unlabelledView post →Orion and the Dark, it was fun film overall but was missing something. 100% worth a watch 3/5
unlabelledView post →I don't know what Netflix/Dreamworks exec rolled the dice on letting Charlie Kaufman write a children's movie, but I'm glad they did. "Orion and the Dark" was weird in the best way. Though I may have liked it more than my somewhat confused 11yo. Maybe I'll show her "Adaptation" in a few years 😆
unlabelledView post →Seeing how Charlie Kaufman transforms a 30 page picture book into a 90 min film. Now Watching: ORION AND THE DARK
unlabelledView post →The first 30 minutes of Orion and the Dark lulled me into forgetting that Charlie Kaufman wrote the screenplay. Then I spent the rest of the film repeatedly saying, "Wait, what?!"
unlabelledView post →Orion and the Dark is a very good and funny animated movie now on Netflix that gets increasingly weird as it goes because Charlie Kaufman wrote it, but frankly, I appreciated how boldly weird they were allowed to get. Anyway, check it out.
unlabelledView post →Finally saw Orion and the Dark porn in the wild.... and I just sitting here going yeah if you have some weird as movie you like someone is drawing porn of it
unlabelledView post →Since we’ve been slacking on family movie night lately, tonight we’re correcting that with "Orion and the Dark" and a bowl full of popcorn. 🍿
unlabelledView post →Good morning, lovely people! This week, I have a hidden gem of an animated film you probably missed last year. So let’s talk about fear, anxiety, togetherness, and DreamWorks’ excellent Orion and the Dark. www.studyroompod.com/blog/2025/8/...
unlabelledView post →46. Orion and the Dark A short, yet very sweet film. While the story could’ve done some adjustments including a confusing finale, I still had a great with it thanks to charming and hilarious characters, creative animation and a great message about being afraid. 8/10
unlabelledView post →#NowWatching: Orion and the Dark(2024) CGI: Mikros Animation(the same studio that animated the 2017 Captain Underpants Movie) Distributor: Netflix #DreamWorksMarathon
unlabelledView post →I’m honestly going by theatrical releases, but including those there was kind of a draught of quality (sans maybe Orion and the Dark but I am kind of bias towards that film)
unlabelledView post →Movie #6: Orion and the Dark
unlabelledView post →Last night I pitched a movie Think I'll do it again Found myself watching "Orion and the Dark" on Netflix Loved this animated feel good movie One thing that impressed me. All the circles were completed. Properly overlaped. And told a complete story of past, present and future

unlabelledView post →Just watched Orion and the Dark, and... Uh... Wow. I was NOT prepared. Like, until the closing credits rolled, I didn't even realize it was written by Charlie Kaufman (though that certainly explained some stuff). Probably my favorite new movie of the year so far.
unlabelledView post →Movie night edible taken. First was 1983's the Big Chill then Orion and the Dark now I feel for the Lego movie. Reminds me of the short time I lived in Houston and the great times and friends I had then.
unlabelledView post →Orion and the Dark is a pretty damn good movie! Watching it now with the kiddos
unlabelledView post →13. Orion and the Dark Shame this was dumped into Netflix, as it’s such a cute and charming film! And of course, beautiful animation doesn’t hurt either. Maybe not one of Dreamwork’s best, but certainly one worth watching.
unlabelledView post →Hey everyone. This Friday, @arunmehta.bsky.social and I are back on the DreamMachine train covering the DreamWorks film Orion and the Dark. It's the studio's first film exclusive to a streaming site and the first since Joseph: King of Dreams that a film wasn't released in theaters.
unlabelledView post →Watched "Orion and the Dark". Overall nice movie, but kinda did not care for the Orion's as grown-up story. www.themoviedb.org/movie/113982...
unlabelledView post →Man, folks were not kidding about just HOW Charlie Kaufman the Charlie Kaufman-written ORION AND THE DARK is. An animated film about crippling anxiety that's also meta as all hell with a nesting doll narrative that never stops digesting itself.
unlabelledView post →Today on HKHS Pod: We're skewing extremely young with our latest pick: Emma Yarlett's 2014 picture book ORION AND THE DARK, and Sean Charmatz's 2024 animated adaptation. The book is fun and cute and the film is...written by Charlie Kaufman?! Listen here: podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/h...
unlabelledView post →I'm back on the Piecing It Together Podcast to talk about the clever animated movie 'Orion and the Dark' and its combination of DreamWorks and Charlie Kaufman.
unlabelledView post →Orion and the Dark is an interesting fun movie from DreamWorks (7/10) while The Tiger’s Apprentice is a forgettable kids flick from Paramount (4/10) and I recommend watching the former but skip out the latter if you guys planning on watching either of them.
unlabelledView post →Just finished Orion and the Dark on Netflix, a new DreamWorks film, and that was a bit of fun!
unlabelledView post →I can't stop thinking about Orion and the Dark. Please watch this film.
unlabelledView post →My 7 yo has been looking forward to ‘Orion and the Dark’ (animated film on @Netflix just out today). He checked out the book from the school library. I just found out that Charlie Kaufman wrote this screenplay. Now I’m really looking forward to it tonight.
unlabelledView post →Orion and the Dark is a really imaginative and sweet movie that has a storybook feel to it with it’s narrative and visuals while supplying both tender and comedic moments. 9/10
