positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed Onee Chanbara Origin. It does not have the depth of games like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, or Metal Gear Rising but if you like those kinds of action games you will likely enjoy Onee Chanbara Origin. POSITIVES The controls are tight and responsive. It actively discourages spamming by making properly timed presses during combos stronger (with a rhythm style interface to help you learn the timing). There are dodges and parries where dodges are a bit easier but parries…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the best one. Not a single doubt in my mind. The third character you unlock plays like the dream action game I thought up when I was 13. (Woooo I'm review #1,000!!)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i expected dumb button mashing with girls in bikinis slashing zombies in a pool of blood... would have been totally enough for me. what i got instead was a super fun and deep action game with lots of mechanics about girls in bikinis slashing zombies in a pool of blood. HIGHLY recommend haha great game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't believe a game about an anime girl wearing a bikini and a cowboy hat fighting zombies, have such a fun and solid combat game play
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mechanically I think this is the best one in the series. Feels good to play, looks good, and combat is enjoyable. You can also make the blood white.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've done everything the game has to offer, such as beating the story on normal, hard, beast and berserk. All the bonus missions. Every quest including no damage taken and reaching floor 151 in survival mode. My score is a solid 10 / 10 with only a few minor gripes that don't hurt enough to subtract points. The game feels infinitely re-playable to me because it encourages you to get better at the hack and slash with the cool system. It rewards you with speed and damage for timing your attacks…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Im writing this review from the perspective of a DMC, Metal Gear Rising, Bayonetta, Punishing Gray Raven...etc fan. If you are in this category of player, I highly recommend this game. Even if you aren't, this game is better than 100% of triple A slop that has been released in the last ten years The good: The game plays like a weird, but interesting mix between MGR and Resident Evil 4/5 The MGR guts: Characters control a lot like Raiden do, sans blade mode. You have a 'light' and 'special'…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this in the recent Humble Bundle of D3PUBLISHER titles. I had been morbidly curious about Onee Chanbara for a while, ever since I saw it ported on the Wii as "Bikini Zombie Slayers," but the comparatively high price kept me away from the series for a long time. But, as part of a bundle with a bunch of other games, I figured it was time to finally pull the trigger. This game has a surprising amount going for it. The combat system has an impressive amount of depth and challenge to it, way…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoy mindless action games, but this one is unfortunately tedious on top of mindless. An absolute chore to play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I did not expect this but... this game feels really good to slash around wtf This is my first game in the series. I heard about these games in the past and to me they seemed like games focused on fanservice where gameplay is probably very meh and depthless. But i was very wrong. Calling it "DMC at home" isnt accurate at all imo. The combat is very different. The movesets are simple, comboing isnt as freeform, u might be mashing one button over and over... but with some addititional mechanics.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't believe i got isekai'd and my big sis (blood related and very important, so you better don't lewd or ship them together) is a bikini-wielding zombie slaying heeeyaaw-cowboy that will save my mother and father! If you like DMC, pick this up. its simple but gold. EN VA performances are great, they are so out-of-sync tho that it makes it hilarious,
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Games not bad but the price is kinda nuts for the amount of game finished the story in 4 hours.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Once you get past the insanely bad optimization, it's really not that bad of a game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good remake of the updated versions of the first 2 games in this series: "The OneeChanpuru The Onechan Special Chapter" and "The OneeChampon The Onechan 2 Special Chapter", known in the West (particularly Europe/PAL territories) as "Zombie Hunters/Zombie Zone: The Other Side" and "Zombie Hunters 2". Both were originally PS2 titles released as part of D3's "Simple" series, a lineup of budget titles present in the Japanese market particularly during the 2000s and that managed to spawn some…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Friggin' LOVE this game! If you like fanservice filled action games, that are full of absolutely hot women, lots of T&A, plenty of gore, fun songs, and a replayable length, this game is just a pure joy to play. Can't recommend it enough. If you're able to, DEFINITELY get the deluxe edition (preferably on sale), since you get ALL SORTS of REALLY wonderfully lewd costumes to dress the girls up in. Eva is best girl, btw :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →D3 we need a new Onechanbara asap.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was interested in a very low stakes and easy action game. This one stood out to be but was I dissapointed. The story is so throw away and bland. The visuals is so ugly. All this would have been fine if the gameplay was good but its not that great, it's a hack and slash but lacks any real impact. Every move feels weak and opponets take a while to go down. I was hoping to feel like the ultimate bad ass but I felt weak. There's nothing to the gameplay, story is bland and there's not much in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a much sexy version of Metal Gear Rising, and I love it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DMC at home, but with hot waifus? Sign me up! Alongside with "Onechanbara Z2 Chaos" these two games are incredibly good and satisfying to play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hope one day we will see a continuation of this masterpiece ( ͡❛ ͜ʖ ͡❛)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wait for a sale. Then have fun slicing up undead in this DMC inspired anime game. Check the community page for the thread with fixes for known issues. If you get this game for what it is, the bikini zombie slayer, there's enough for a good time if you don't take the story and setting too seriously.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After playing Onee Chanbara Origin for about 1.5 hours last night, I would like to declare that that game owns.
unlabelledView post →My playtime got glitched because I played it while offline. It's good but not as fanservicey as it should be. Feels scaled down because of P;aystation censorship.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing Onee Chanbara ORIGIN is like eating a doner kebab. It's not good for me (because the game's trash), it's definitely not good for my wallet (it's overpriced to sh*t and I'm happy I got it at a discount) and every time I pick it up it falls apart (it crashes regularly even with a ton of fixes). But I was in the mood for it, I knew what I was getting myself into and I can't complain too much since I did enjoy it in the end. Food analogies aside, what's good in the game is good. The combat…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a very nice remake of the first and second game in the series. Some newer mechanics have been added as well as older mechanics from some of the past games. Doesn't have co-op like the wii game though which is a minus but the game itself is pretty good. A decent port for pc as well. Definitely a nice action game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do not buy this if you are not ready to try multiple solutions to the game crashing, then have it STILL CRASH. The developers don't care that the game crashes on a high percentage of computers. I've been trying to fix it, but nothing works. Each time I have to fight the first boss again just to see if it did. This is a waste of my time. I wish I could refund it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played about an hour of Onee Chanbara Origin on PS5 earlier this week. Not a bad game, to be very honest, but not really for me. Dodgy camera and parries didn’t help me like the game more #OneeChanbaraOrigin #PS5 #PlayStation5 #PlayStation #PS5Share
unlabelledView post →Super fun to play, specially if the combat system suits you. The characters are cool, the story is allright and the boss fights are challenging (You get a dodge and a parry, you WILL use them) Came for the ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°), stayed for the hype moments and aura.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You can make the blood color white. just let your imagination do its thing with this info.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →elite ball game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good brawler with lovely character design. I enjoyed grinding zombies as much as I enjoyed watchng Aya and the rest of the cast. It's short (5 hours?) but if you are into brawlers, musou and/or Bayonetta-like games you may end up liking this one as much as I did.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not me finishing Onee Chanbara Origin last night like, "Well, time to add another game to the speedrun backlog."
unlabelledView post →looks really good on the oled and runs super smooth/good! buy it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Backup your saves regularly, lest you want your progress to be zombified by Save-Corruption-Chan. That caveat aside, great hack-and-slash gameplay, with those cool dodges and finishing moves lending a cinematic quality to the experience. Story is pretty rubbish, though the twists are clumsily foreshadowed throughout. Blissfully short. Get this on sale though. Price is way too high for what it offers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a sick feature where it randomly crashes then deletes your save data.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game was fun, the story uncomplicated and straight to the point; no philosophical debates, or issues on morality and the human condition, just a nice hack and slash game with beautiful women.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A strange bare minimum remake that satisfies and disappoints in equal measure. The combat is fun, very much Z2 style as opposed to the original games, but the game randomly refuses all input for a second or two like someone just unplugged the controller or something. The cel shaded style is nice, but the performance is spotty and texture work is hit or miss. Oh, and the game defaulted to Japanese text on first boot, which, while authentic, means a few minutes of Google translate waffle as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It starts off really really rough. but for some reason after you unlock saki the game gets absurdly better as you can cancel animations by sister switching™️ and Saki has the most satisfying punch girl moveset i've ever seen. didnt think it would hit the parry umami levels of other character actions but if this game had a boss rush i would absolutely be around for it. If we ever get more games like these i'll keep an eye out, nice job onechanbara team! BANG BANG BANG PULL MY GYARU TRIGGER
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This review is gonna be for the most part a rant about the price, so if you're a gamer I'll be brief and just tell you a couple of words about the game, that way you can skip the rest. If you're a dev, you might want to hang around and read the rest cause you're screwing up big time. Game pros: - Game is fresh, fun and the combat system is satisfying even if it feels a little on the "mobile game" side. - I beated the main story in 5 hrs on the first run and in half an hour on berserk…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ahh so good my pc could handle it 10/100
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty fun game but extremely short. The main story took me 6h, so I would only recommend it on sale. Parrying and dodging are a must, so if that's not for you then you may not like this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its stereotypical hack n slash game. The story is kinda fun and the characters are funny. But, the gameplay is kinda clunky and the game feels and looks like it was for the PS2. I might come back to it one day. Would recommend at 10$.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you can't dodge or parry, this game isn't recommended. However, if you like hack and slashers with katana and empty hand combat while slaughtering the undead and demonic entities, then this may be for you. Controller support is much more suited for a 360 controller. If you use a PS4/5, just remember what the equivalent of X, Y, A and B are and you should be good. I have this on console but got the PC port for the convenience when I travel. Game is default to Japanese, however if you check in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game has one massive issue no one is talking about and that is audio delay, if you cannot stomach that then avoid this game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute anime girl in a bikini and cowboy hat slices and dices everything in her path and saves the day. 10/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →👢 A stunning remake, despite minor technical port problems. The new stylization suits the characters & environments perfectly. The game is colorful, the plot is more lively and expanded with cutscenes, and the combat system is incredibly enjoyable. Convenient combos & timings, useful techniques. Surprisingly, there isn't a significant amount of ecchi only fanservice. This is truly a good hack'n'slash for a few evenings. There are those who call the series dumb and the games in it bad, but in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Onee Chanbara ORIGIN is the prequel to Oneechanbara Z2: Chaos, which was released earlier on Steam than the former oddly. Basically you play as Aya, the lingerie clad samurai girl with a cowgirl hat, slashing her way through hordes of zombies, trying to stop the source of this zombie apocalypse. Along the way you will meet some familiar faces, such as her sister Saki, and some other new characters, though you only get to use Aya, Saki and another unlockable character. Each of them uses…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Right from the get-go, the game boots entirely in Japanese, forcing you into 10 minutes of blind trial-and-error just to navigate the menus and find the English toggle. The display settings are practically nonexistent—there is zero 21:9 ultrawide (3440x1440) support, and the framerate is inexplicably hard-locked to 60 FPS. Performance is rough with noticeable frame pacing issues, and the camera controls feel buggy and erratic, at least while using an Xbox controller. On top of all the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun spectacle fighter with good difficulty. The story isn't life changing but it's charming. If you wanna be a pretty woman slicing zombies with folded nippon steel while wearing a bikini, then this is the game for you. Gameplay is smooth and rewards good timing. Blocking is still pretty tough for me and I've played it for a good while. Dodging is pretty easy and seems more rewarding in my opinion. Plus, switching characters on the fly is really fun and keeps the combos going longer. The DLC…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Plays like a dream on my steam deck. Really fun hack and slash game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Starting the game: "Yeah, it's just a bikini girl zombie slashing game." 1/3 into the story: "Wait the combat is actually pretty cool!" Reaching the credits: "Yeah, it's a cool bikini girl zombie slashing game." "...Welp, time to show off on the next difficulty!"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game about Fighting style and outfit.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overpriced Game with Critical Game-ending Flaws TLDR Score: 6.4/10 I was actually having fun with this game and had just finished a playthrough on hard difficulty. I was going to do a playthrough on the next difficulty when the game crashed...and wiped out my 14 hour save file because some genius game designer decided the game should have only one autosave slot with no manual saves. Needless to say, I'm not in the mood to start from scratch when I could just lose all my progress all over…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's exactly what it looks like... A fun hack and slash game from a company not captured by the "modern audience" bull.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An Elegant game from a more civilized age
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Onee Chanbara Origin is a fast-paced hack-and-slash remake that condenses the earliest entries of the series into a more polished, modern package. Combat is built around rapid swordplay, dodge timing, and maintaining momentum as you cut through hordes of zombies and supernatural enemies. The flow is aggressive and rhythm-based, rewarding players who stay on the offensive rather than playing defensively. The core mechanics revolve around managing weapon condition, blood gauge states, and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Onee Chanbara: ORIGIN delivers a wildly entertaining and visually thrilling experience, blending over-the-top zombie-slaying action with stylish, charismatic heroines. Characters like Aya, Saki, and Lei bring a magnetic presence to the game, each with their own appeal, strength, and allure—making them not only standout fighters but icons of the genre. I would love to see this title evolve into a full-fledged multimedia franchise. A live-action adaptation—preferably led by talented teenage…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Combat is rather slow for my taste. Onechanbara Z2 Chaos is the superior version in every way compared to origin.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this. It's a decent action game that doesn't demand too much of your time. It took me 8 hours for all missions + DLC. However, $60-75 is INSANE for for a game of this length from a series that is infamous for its low-budget production quality. PLEASE do not spend full price for this. I loved the rhythm of the combat in this. The combo system works such that you do flashier and more powerful attacks if you time your button presses in sync with your previous sword swing. It…
