negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty cool but not for $30
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As an academic researching uclear strategy, I say: DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! Overly priced Nuclear simulation, when you could get the same thing for free with Nuke Map. I regret buying this. I wrote my master thesis in war studies about Nuclear strategy, so I was actually interested to see what this could do. Turned out, it didn't really offer much. It basically just shows what the effects of a nuclear strike is; nothing about how an actual nuclear conflict would be fought or how nuclear…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't buy this. It's incredibly overpriced for what you are given, and at any time you can get it taken from you. I had this game previously and tinkered with it in school, had over 4 hours of accumulated time playing, eventually stopped playing and then recently I went to look at it, and was shocked that it was taken out of my account, I was never refunded it, given a new code/key, and I had to pay another 50 dollars to get it back. As far as a game goes, it's horrible, it isn't a game, nor…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Most of the negative reviews are from people who were confused as to what this is, this is an extremely accurate and detailed simulation of nuclear weapons, not a game. However, it is somewhat overpriced, and while I am eager to see where it goes, I very much think that at least at it's current state it's not exactly worth 30 dollars. I still recommend it for those who really, really find this stuff interesting and want to try it for themselves, it's basically nukemap but far, far more capable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This Game Is Amazing, Although The Gui Reminds Me Of Trying To Learn A Advanced Game Like Hoi4. This Game Feels Like This https://nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/ If It Had A Premium Version That Was A Steam Game. What Needs To Be Added: Better GUI, Better Tutorial What Needs To Be Kept: The Map Textures Wjat Should Be Added: Steam Workshop Integration, Better GUI, Overall Rating: ---{ Graphics }--- ☐ You forget what reality is ☐ Beautiful ☑ Good ☐ Decent ☐ Bad ☐ Don‘t look too long at it ☐…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Needs more polishing for the price. Blackouts, dynamic firestorms, higher resolution maps...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had heard about this program from a few grognards in various wargaming blogs, forums, and video reviews. So I had it on my wish list for a long time. Finally decided to splurge on this and see what I could do with it. I underwhelmed. Yes I have only about 2 hrs into running this, but about 1.5 of that hour is trying to get this to be stable when running on my computer. For the US$30 before tax, title, license. I expected that I could run a few scenarios and maybe do something more…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A high price tag justifies high expectations. If the game were significantly cheaper, I would not see it so critically. The game has two jobs imho. 1. To simulate nukes and the effects of a nuclear war 2. To display those in an enjoyable way The game fails at least in big parts of both points. 1. The simulation may be quite good in its core but it is not recognizable real time. If you want to see stats, you have to open a menue to see, what should be shown without klicking on anything. But…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too Expensive for the amount of features currently implemented. Pretty neat idea but can't justify the high price tag tbh. Good on a sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun to mess around with, wait for sale tho
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The concept is really cool, but it is way too expensive for the state that it is in. The UI isn't easy to understand, and doesn't look very good. It doesn't run well at all on lower end devices either. I think this has potential for sure, but I can't really enjoy it in the state that it's in. The AI is also faulty. This is just a marginally better NUKEMAP but 30$ more expensive.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Price is more than twice than what would be nice.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While this is a fantastic, detailed, and intriguing simulator, it is simply too incomplete to be worth $30. Even $20 would be an acceptable price. But $30 is just outrageous for an incomplete simulator. While i would not recommend it for it's current state and price, i do see potential for improvement, and would recommend it if more was added or if it was slightly less costly. EDIT AS OF 2024 : An update for this game has finally been released. Time will tell if this will amount to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let's start with something very important. This isn't a game. There is no AI and you can't play against your buddies online. No scoring. No story. No fancy cut screens etc. It does one thing: quantify and qualify the effects of nuclear weapons on a global scale. There are predefined scenarios built in, but the core is a nuclear war sandbox allowing the user to examine various home brew situations. There are utilities built in to allowing you to craft different attack options using…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was able to nuke france and wipe it of the map. 10/10 Would play it again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have no idea what these good reviews are talking about- it’s not even a good simulator. The preloaded scenarios are garbage and never work. The death toll calculations take forever and those don’t even work. I got something like 20 million US casualties after simulating a MAD scenario. I dropped a 25 Mt warhead directly on my house and the simulated person in said location was said to be suffering from mild to severe radiation sickness. I could be doing it wrong, but I’d never know…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's nukemap but FAR more capable. I honestly didn't expect to have as much fun with it as I've had, creating custom weapons and scenarios is very easy, watching the AI escalate wars into nuclear armageddon is always entertaining, and the sheer volume of data available for you to look at in the aftermath is very fun. You can put a virtual person in your real-world address and see if you would survive a nuclear explosion, 10/10 no notes
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very amazing. Now i'm going to nuke my house.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's cool i do like it but cannot justify the price tag. If it was £10 i would of kept it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its not really a game. Its a detailed simulation.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It costs way too much for what you get so dont buy it unless you got money to waste
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game does not really work that well. Several of the features crash and it is extremely difficult to design and execute a full scale attack plan since many of the features either don't function or have no tutorial or guidance as to how to use them. The game engine itself is amazing, but this game was released way too early and needs a lot more work.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As the title states, this is a nuclear war simulator. This is not a game for entertainment. This is a game to model human death, and how they will die. This models fallout patterns accounting for half-life, walking and driving paths during a nuclear war, and effects of different structures to estimate a total radiation dose, while also accounting for real-life GLOBAL wind patterns determined from meteorology.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No manual to describe how the various components work, or interact. Interface is not at all intuitive. Slow and buggy displays. The scenario's are difficult to "play", which is another instance of poor interface design. Developing a scenario is not described, so it is a process of elimination on how to construct a scenario. The tutorials are high-level only, and as mentioned, there is no manual to consult on how this stupid 'game' actually works. I am uninstalling it and freeing up the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is NOT a game, but rather a very detailed simulation on the aftermath of a nuclear attack
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My saves got deleted. YAY! I remember them promising to add more wayyyyyy more stuff and they only thing I can see is a slightly better GUI. kinda pathetic it really just feels like they took the money and ran. its just so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. 18 months later I am still mad a paid 30 dollars for this and it never got refunded dont let the 27 hours fool you, its closer to 3 or 4, it just never closed and ran in the background despite exiting the game. thats what you get for $30
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is definitely a SIMULATOR, not a game. I bought it, thinking it was a game. After purchasing it, I realized the mistake. But steam wouldn't allow the refund. So I began to tinker around with it. Definitely an eye opening simulator, especially in the times we live in today. Again, this is a SIMULATOR. I will say this, if WW3 happens, you won't need to worry about any reviews. If this simulator is accurate......... Even though it was a mistake buying it. I do not regret it now.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is not a game in the traditional sense. It is a highly sophisticated simulation platform designed to explore the terrifying reality of nuclear war in extraordinary detail. Rather than offering entertainment, it offers insight—deep, technical, and sobering. Before its release, Alex Wellerstein’s well-known NUKEMAP was the most widely recognized public tool for modeling nuclear detonations. While NUKEMAP remains excellent for quick, educational overviews, Nuclear War Simulator operates on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to like this. I really did. But this is not ready for prime time. In its current state it is definitely not worth the asking price. Perhaps later, when it is more fully flushed out I'll give it another go. But I just requested and received a refund from Steam for the first time ever. There's a good foundation here to build something remarkable. But in it's current state, $30 is way too much to be asking.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basically just Google Earth with lines that move by themselves.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great learning device for people to understand the dangerous times we live in here on planet Earth. One gripe: How hard would it have been to get the shadows of the Earth correct? The Earth is tilted at 23 degrees, yet your shadow of Night and Day stay at March 21st or Sept 21st (equinox) all year round. Just a small gripe but it makes it more realistic as to the night and day cycles all year round when you include the proper shadow.... kind of amateurish if you don't fix it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like it but the UI is so confusing and this is coming from a lady who's logged over 3,000 hours on crusader kings 2
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I tried it and had it refunded. It's a pretty pointless exercise/simulation..... nukes launch, detonate and wipe out an area- that cant be considered a win by anyone. It should be made available for free- just so folks have a better understanding what nuclear warfare boils down to. SAD
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →More options in this game than I expected to find. The database allows you to easily set up any hypothetical scenario you can imagine.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spent 312 hours making new kinds of missiles and deploying them against different countries. Money well spent! Oh, and the dev is active in the Steam forums and has replied positively to a suggestion I made. Highly recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is more of a simulator or estimation tool than a game, if you're looking for fun you're probably going to be disappointed. But if you're a nerdy person looking to gain some insight into the effects of nuclear war, then this simulator could be useful. The interface needs some work and it's a little quirky in places, but it's manageable. Despite these little problems it's still an interesting tool about a horrifying future.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an interesting simulation of how a nuclear exchange between superpowers would play out - but it is not a game in the traditional sense. I can tell there are a lot of possibilities with this project; this is almost more what the government uses for war-gaming vs any civilian model. There are several scenarios available online in a repository for the game, but you have to get them, they are not included in the download. One, set in 1985, shows just how badly the destruction would…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This has a lot of potential and could even be a great teaching tool for many but it's sadly not ready. When it locked up when I was just doing the tutorials, it was a pretty good sign. It's a good concept and I hope the developer(s?) will release an update to patch the bugs and expand the scenario options someday for those of us who appreciated the effort.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game makes you kill 6% of the Indian population
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good concept, poorly executed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nuclear War Simulator gets very very repetitive very very fast.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the balkins had a small dissagreement
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →firsly its more of a simulation than a game. and i recommand it for the ones who really like nuclear wars. ive played this hours on hours on hours. i love that you can create your own units for countries. really recommand it to those who love to see the consequences of nuclear wars.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game for simulating nuclear war/escalation scenarios. Many people mistake it for a game like DEFCON or ICBM where you need to win or score some points. The focus of NWS on the other hand is to show how a specific scenario would turn out. It offers an a ability to create a wide range of them and see them in action.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is exactly what the tittle says, not a game. If you are looking to have a fun Nuclear war simulator, this might not be it. I got bored of it within a couple days. But it's a very good simulator.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent game for reviewing your location and seeing possible interactions with nuclear forces
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm gonna refund it for now. Might repurchase later, though. Didn't like it much because the explosion graphics (and I do realize that's not the point of the game, but a green square around the blast is still rather unacceptable) are quite annoying to look at and I didn't like the UI much.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game. I can understand why people may not - it is not really a game. But it is a really good simulation of nuclear strategy and war fighting covering all aspects of real world nuclear weapons. You can spend hours crafting a beautifully in depth plan yourself and see how it plays out or work through one of the many detailed pre-prepared scenarios. I really enjoy this game, but then I'm a science nerd and have an interest in nuclear war strategy. If you are as well, this game is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terrible simulation at this price point... Boring... Would recommend if it was at max $10....
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just got my refund. Running on a 1 year old HP Envy with 32GB memory an 1TB storage. Could never get the casualties to calculate nor fallout tracks to display. Steam should vet the games it sells to protect consumers from substandard, unusable products like this...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To preface: I am NOT a professional and this review is solely my own opinion. (Please read all the way through.) I really anticipated this simulator's release, it seemed extremely promising and interesting to try out. Upon booting it up(after having various problems while starting it up, mainly with the UI), my first discovery was that some features were so unoptimized that they're almost unusable. To add onto that, the UI is very difficult to navigate and generally an eyesore(which imo, a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game doesn't seem to function with direct X 12 and wants direct X 11. Had error messages so I asked for a refund
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fails to simulate the actual important part of nukes, Agricultural (and Aquaculture), and atmospheric events. it uses a simple "soot" system in the air, it takes no account of light, or thermal energy making it to the planet, no account for radioactive dust. and no account for soil. effects on marine biology as the ocean will absorb a lot of radiation and this will effect plankton stock. And of course water sanitation, glacial, snow, and river moments, from the change in earths temperature.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This simulator needs a lot more polish and work before it is ready for any kind of release. Controls, visuals, and UI are quite jankier than what Youtube gameplay videos suggested. Things are poorly optimized and information is not well presented. Text descriptions are not properly formatted and have typos. A lot of the elements seemed cheaply built like many other low quality shovelware titles put together in Unity. As others have mentioned, the price is much too high for what it is. I even…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not a game, it's a simulator. There's a lot to be improved, it's a small dev team, but I suspect it will only get better with time. If you're interested in the subject matter, you'll love it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Refunded Do not buy - this is seriously incomplete, to the point that I had issues with this application preserving resolution settings between screens... Every part of this, even as just a simulation engine with no expectations of underlying game play, is fundamentally barely workable and barely even makes it to the level of asset flip quality of work.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cannot recommend this for its current price tag.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is really good because i get to nuke iran. would definitley reccomend
