What people are saying
A short, atmospheric psychological horror game with mixed narrative reception.
Many players praise the game's atmosphere, art style, and music, calling it a unique and beautiful experience. The Yume Nikki inspiration and mask mechanics are frequently highlighted as engaging. [2][5][7][9][11][27]
However, some criticize the narrative as simplistic or melodramatic, and a rhythm minigame is widely disliked for being frustrating. A few find the game tedious or aimless. [3][5][34][35][36]

60 of 102 · most liked firstI couldn't help but notice that some of these reviews look a little odd (6+ private profiles with only 1 review post?). But anyway, I did enjoy the game personally, and given the opportunity, I think it can find genuine fans. It certainly was a unique experience, not exactly sure how to describe it, it reminded me a bit of Yume Nikki but with more focus on the cerebral narrative and a sense of melancholy, and while it has some horror themes, it's not much of a jumpscare game, it just touches…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wanted to love the game based on the screenshots before purchase and I even full cleared it to give it a fair chance. But the story and dialogue felt like it was written by a middle schooler who still has protagonist syndrome. Would not recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The rhythm minigame is crap and made me stop playing. I sincerely hope that every developer remove rhythm minigames if they are not specifically making a rhythm game, or at least provide accessibility options to skip it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a bad game for the price. An interesting little introspective experience. I wasn't entirely enamored with the story, we didn't spend long with the characters, but it did what it set out to do. My only con personally is that I didn't like the Dancing sequence. it wasn't so much a puzzle as a test of skill, and one I'm not particularly good at.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Surprising little work of art! It's really good to see a game not operating on cheap scares. Developing surreal mood and dark psychological vibes with minimal but present writing. It had all that I would expect from good indie horror in terms of mood and art direction. Concept with the masks switching and unlocking more surreal places with more story fragments - in short exploration was great. The only downside of this game is it's length 3-4 hours to complete all. Multiple ending though so it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In for about an hour now and I can already tell I'm going to binge the crap out of this game just wanting to know what's going on! Also, this soundtrack really complements the eerie artwork style of the game, it's effin' spooking me out. Welp, time to get back to the game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While the idea is interesting, the setting is enigmatic, and the protagonist is sweet, my general impression is that of tediousness. The textual material seems somewhat pompous and melodramatic, and the horror elements just fall flat for me. I gave up after several attempts to pass the Sheep Dance with its platformer-like gameplay. Perhaps one can get round this one, but I could not bother to find out.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In a nutshell, I think it’s a nice experience for a niche audience. Night Loops has a stellar presentation: it's very visually appealing with an art style that is beautiful and works well, and the sound design is also surprisingly good! It feels considerably original and well done in that sense. Its biggest flaw is essentially the narrative, in my opinion. It’s simple, which is not by itself a flaw, but even for these kinds of games it falls a bit into the too-abstract which takes a lot from…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So far, So good! Creepy and interesting character designs with a looping day mechanic make this just my kinda game. The masks and liminal worlds give it a Yume Nikki vibe! Excited to spend more time with this weird little gem.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It’s a psychological horror visual novel game that features captivating monochrome pixel graphics. In this game, you find yourself in the Seaside Hotel, reliving the last hour of your night shift with mysterious and unsettling experiences. Along the way, you encounter a variety of enigmatic characters and strive to uncover the truth and break free from the time loop. While it’s categorized as a horror genre, it’s not relying on shocking or gory elements, making it easy on players who might be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another mental illness game that has to get listed as 'horror' because there isn't a more appropriate genre tag. Heavily Yume Nikki inspired exploration/puzzle game, with atmospheric graphics and good music. The puzzles are not too hard and fun to do. The endings were beautiful, though do heed the content warnings first. I enjoyed my time with this game a lot.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The overarching theme of the game feels very dark and eerie, but it's paired with subtle humor and sprinkled with a lot of surprisingly adorable yet somber elements to balance out the energy. The same goes for the audio. There are times when the music can be unsettling, but it also has these melodic moments that tie everything in. The mask features are really interesting and make me want to find out what the next one is. Personally, it's been pretty intuitive to pick up the clues in the game,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fantastic looking game, devs are passionate about this project and it's worth checking out!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good art, good story. Would like to put Myne in a clear tupperware and shake it around occasionally.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I completed the game fairly quick, I did really enjoy the atmosphere of the game. Reminded me of Yume Nikki with the surrealism. I liked that it wasn't so jumpscare-y but focused more on the environments with the music and ambiance to set the tone. The time management was a nice touch to add that bit of stress overall, so it's not as free-roaming as Yume Nikki.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty short (took me 2-3 hours and I wasn't speed running) but it's an absolute brain worm with a great aesthetic. Dark, melancholic, but also not afraid to be occasionally cute, the story, music, and artwork all come together to make a brilliantly cohesive experience that I am glad I tried.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The nights definitly loop, 10/10 game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Uninteresting gameplay. The whole game is about the story, but that's not what I thought it would be. So, not bad, just not what I expected.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think the Most Helpful reviews for this title really cover it well. It's too good for me not to recommend though, so I'm putting in an endorsement just so I can add a thumbs up: Great use of its art style, consistent storytelling, unique atmosphere, quirky environments and characters, and great little details that help to slowly scale a sense of coming doom and pressure on time/escape. The game wasn't particularly difficult for a puzzle game (especially if you play many) but offered such a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A neat little psychological trip inside a creepy seaside hotel. The gameplay relies on looping through your night shift, solving light puzzles, and swapping out weird masks that change how you interact with the environment. It has a fantastic, unsettling vibe, but it can feel a bit aimless and repetitive as you try to figure out what the game actually wants you to do. Worth a look if you like surreal walking sims, just don't expect complex puzzle design.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Indie Showcase - Night Loops What an odd one, the store page makes you think it's a horror game and at one point it looked like they had purchased reviews [despite really not needing to.] But it's actually more of a puzzle game, worth the bundle purchase with Repose. #indiegames s.team/a/1826060
unlabelledView post →cool yume nikki adjacent game (with a lot more plot and focuse on depression), it has a really nice ambiance and good puzzles
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game doesn't fit the description on steam AT ALL
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good indie game containing 2-4 hours of game-play. If you have a free evening I would recommend you try this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short little game with a cute art style that makes me sad that more people haven't given it a shot yet. PLEASE TRY IT <3 I enjoyed the story for what it was telling (not explaining obviously bcuz its the backbone of the game) and I had fun with the puzzles (although I am a big noob and had to bang my head against the wall a few times to figure stuff out) My favourite part of the game is definitely the atmosphere and visual design. Night Loops perfectly captures that unnatural, surreal…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Only a matter of time until that fat furry inflation youtuber covers this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this game. The story is awesome.!! I love the different masks and uses. Everyone is super helpful on the discord. I will never get the last achievement, since I thoroughly suck at the dance bit. I played on steam deck with little issue. The joystick is a little touchy for controls. I did have to map my mask shortcut buttons (whew, that’s a mouthful). I also entered texted by using “steam+X”. Otherwise, it worked and read fine. Definitely recommend this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Impressions after 4 hours: Captivated. Can't wait to play more! While I haven't reached the end (nor do I feel anywhere close), I'm incredibly impressed with how well polished Night Loops is! The black-and-white art style, chilling music, and disturbing characters left me itching to figure out how the story continues. I'm amazed with all the room design and story progression. Each room feels unique and special in their own way while still fitting the overall, eerie theme of the game. Night…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Night Loops approaches horror in a way that feels more interested in disturbing the mind than creating constant panic. Instead of relying heavily on jump scares, aggressive monsters, or endless chase sequences, the game builds discomfort through atmosphere and uncertainty. It slowly creates the sensation that reality itself has become unreliable. The result is an experience that feels less like surviving a haunted location and more like becoming trapped inside an unstable dream where memories,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A strangely beautiful short adventure. Really enjoyed the story and the music from Id's game event to the credits. If its on sale and you want a quick 2-3 hour game, I'd say pick it up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →** spoilers ** it was alright until it wanted me to do all the puzzles in the same loop for the true ending. I feel like there's probably a better way to do that. The game wasn't compelling enough for me to go through all the chores again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thought behind this game is cleverly but they could keep it shorter and more simple.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Night Loops- it's kind of a yume nikki adjacent game, but more focused and with much more plot. i really liked it, it's cool. i like time loop as a metaphor for depression
unlabelledView post →A simple and fun game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful game. No need for guides as you can try everything out with only patience. Remember to copy your save.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The characters, artwork, and music alone were worth the 5 hours I spent playing. The narrative was interesting and could be played out in a mostly non-linear way which was a really unique experience for me. I enjoyed the layers of meaning and different personal interpretations that could be drawn from the narrative. On a surface level, it reminds me of when I would count down the last hour of my work day, every day, on repeat, and how this took a toll from my psyche. On a deeper level. it was a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great atmosphere and story! Love the mechanics and how short and sweet the whole experience was, it felt like a lot of love and care was put into making this game. Art style was so cool and unique and I love the use of 3d objects and lighting in a 2d space. Performance Bug I encountered: In the well world (and only there) when I broke the ice, multiple times I encountered some frame dropping for a few seconds and then back to normal (using a Ryzen RX 6600 xt for reference) General…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this was a short( 2-4 hour) thought provoking game with a time loop mechanic that doesn't drag and has its own take on the mask mechanic on major's mask. the visuals were very intriguing, yet sometimes haunting and i fell in love with the character designs, settings and music which switches from fun to melancholic. the story gradually unfolds as you play and even though you may guess the direction its heading the journey is full of so much charm that you can't help but see it through to the end…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i think it's pretty nice. the musics good. i really like the art-style. the puzzles were pretty easy, which didn't bother me too much, but i would've preferred them a bit harder. the story made me realize that i mostly understand stories as a series of events, but that doesn't really work well with this story. i don't know how well i understand this game, i don't really know how much there is to understand, but it helped me learn about a different way to tell a story. for that reason, and a few…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice mysterious / dark puzzly adventure game! Check it out if you're into surreal adventures.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I generally don't like reviewing games, but after a couple of days, I felt like not enough people are giving it the attention that it deserved, so here we are. I really didn't know what to expect coming into this game, but I liked the aesthetic from the trailer which reminded me of the Junjo Ito. The way that the hand-drawn art cuts into the pixel art is really jarring, in a good way (since it's horror after all). You can tell there's also a love for Majora's Mask in this game. Besides the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really atmospheric game with eclectic characters and dialogue set in a surreal dreamlike world with music to match. Suuuuuper vibe-y game - great subtle world building and fun and creative puzzles; you can tell a lot of passion was put into this game. Only con was the UI controls for selecting masks was a bit clumsy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Deep story, beautiful art, engaging puzzles, emotional soundtrack...Nightloops really has it all. The story really builds across the nights and the player gets to dictate the speed of the game. It allows you to take as many loops as you need to get to know the characters and resonate with their problems and feelings. Each of the characters have unique personalities and I enjoyed going through all of their variations of dialogue, especially when you leave and come back to something different.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Only been about an hour in, but its already been an absolute blast. The creepy vibes and eerie atmosphere really works together with the art style to keep you engaged. I'm definitely very excited to be exploring more of this game and finishing it up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is such a cool game - really stellar mix of art styles! The "creepy mysterious" vibe is palpable -- and the overall gameplay is really well paced
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used to work night shift too it's just like that don't worry
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A magnificent hommage to Majora's Mask, beautifully serving some new and original matter. It's a story about fear and hope.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a fun little RPG maker game. Would say it's a super scary, but the story was cool.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun, short game with great art and puzzles that are just challenging enough to make you think but I never got frustrated at them!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute little short game, took me around 2h30m to finish. The puzzles are not that complex and are fairly simple to solve them.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Play it mostly for the vibes (horror element isn't bad). As a time loop game I don't think it did anything particularly good. Vibes are good though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought a bundle just for this game and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere and world are beautifully done, the characters will stick with me, and the puzzles generally flow pretty smoothly. It has its tedious or frustrating moments but it was overall well worth it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed it! It has great art direction and the progression/sense of purpose was always good. I completed it and got the true ending in a single sitting 'cause I didn't want to stop.
