60 of 148 · most liked firstI'm not sure what I was expecting, but this was not it. There is a lot of story and characters and choices... but I thought it was a rocket building game first. While playing, expect to spend more time talking to NPCs than actually building rockets. They really push the rocket building system in the advertising, but you will definitely spend more time reading dialog than doing that. There's nothing wrong with a game with story, and the story is interesting, it's just REALLY not what was…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fun game, but I think it's silly to compare Next Space Rebels to Kerbal Space Program. There are no orbital mechanics, and a lot of the game mechanics aren't logical. I came into the game thinking I would be able to actually put a rocket into orbit eventually, but the closest you get to orbit is achieving a high vertical and horizontal velocity, and then you win the game. Some weird things about the game: -Adding more fuel tanks makes your rocket engine more powerful. -multi stage…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love KSP, KSP this is not. I don't find the YouTube hero worship aspect of the game fun, rather kinda gross. Maybe too old for the targeted audience of this game. Building system is pretty decent, and the visuals are actually pretty cool but I'll just stick to Kerbin until KSP2 releases for my rocket fix. Way too much social commentary because that has to be inserting into everything; it's not like I play games to escape that stuff or anything. If you enjoy a lot of social dialog with a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I freaking LOVE NEXT SPACE REBELS!!! It's up there with one of my favorite games. Don't expect it to be like ksp, and when buying it please keep in mind that a lot of the time you are spending will be in the chat platform going through and clicking through dialogue for the story. The story is wonderful, and there's even a few plot twists in it. What I particularly like is that you don't start with expensive and crazy big equipment like ksp, you start with a humble model rocket kit. You build up…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Politics..................... Keep the politics out of video games! You had the opportunity for comedy gold and instead you went with corporations and capitalism are evil. If the developers truly hate capitalism, they should give the game away for free! but no, I would imagine they love the mailbox money to much, hypocrites! I would not recommend anyone under 20 playing this simply for the ideology brainwashing. If you manage to get through the political garbage, the base mechanics are decent.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a breath of fresh air. The rocket building is fun. You build silly rockets in your backyard. You're not going to the moon or anything like that, but you're going to the Earth's orbit. The social media simulation aspect is well thought through. I enjoyed that part maybe a bit too much. If you like systems and numbers, you'll like it too. I see others here complain about too much reading, but the story is what kept me engaged. The live action segments are a bit cringe at times, but I loved…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game would be a nice take on rocket construction, simpler than Kerbal Space Program but more goofy-oriented. But the game is 50% talking to people, and immerges you in the political views about space ownership and freedom of information in the youtube era. Could be interesting, but definitely not what I was looking for. If you played Hardspace Shipbreaker and hated all the political shenanigans with Lou, skip this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun game with a not as steep learning curve as Kerbal. I found it to be a great introduction to rocketry for my children, but the storyline is a bit more grown up. Game great for all children, storyline is likely suitable for early teens.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Next space rebels has a good story and game play. Would recommend if you like games like KSP, Juno, etc. Although I wouldn't buy it if you aren't okay with little to no updates.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a lot of rocket sims out there. Its a visual novel. So much anti-capitalist propaganda that I'm finding it hard to believe they actually charged for this game. In addition, it takes forever to have these scripted conversations with npcs. I found myself trying to skip as quickly through the story as I could, even on my first playthorugh. i can say without a doubt that it mimics real life in one regard; I could not possibly care any less about what XxYoMaMa69420xX has to say about anything…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →had 24 hrs in 2 days, that means 2 things, ive got no life, and this game is addicting
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a great and fun story-driven game! It's obviously not a rocket simulator, but more of a fun mix of fundamental kerbal space program and youtubers life mechanics combined into one thing with a very interesting and thoughtful story on top of it. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like there was any content since release, but it was a great experience for only 10 euros on Discount! For me, this was a solid 8/10 experience, would have wished for a little more game beyond "get into almost orbit"…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR KSP meets social media simulator. Fun, but also frustrating especially later on. I love the general concept, and i think the social media aspects were interesting. The characters and videos were a bit much and too on the nose at times, but the overall tone is pretty silly so it's not too bad and i overall had a bunch of fun interacting with them. That and the fact i still enjoyed it overall out of the way, let's talk about some of the issues i have with this game: One of the things that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Only played for 4 hours but really liking this game and then concept. I'm a KSP player with over 2,500 hrs but this game is a different vibe and attraction. I love how it lets you make mistakes and tries to guide you with betters designs, which was sorely missing from KSP 1.x. I could never get my kids to play KSP but they immediately loved Next Space Rebels and played it for an hour by themselves. They loved the social media aspect which really begs the question if the developers should…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When people who want to have a tiktok channel make a game about rockets but they would really rather you watch their tiktok... 4 parts cringe videos, 5 parts overly long dialogues with someone, 1 part watching a rocket go "wooosh". If only there was a button to cut out the first 9 parts and just let me watch rockets go "woooosh"...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →IMHO, the "StarTube" aspect of the game is not that great - once you can get passed the "StarTube" silliness assembling and launching the rockets is a BLAST!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love it, was a bit sceptical at first with all the weird dialog and the whole fake youtube thing but ended up really getting into it. I definitely got my money's worth out of this and hope there will be a sequel or DLC or something that adds a bit more content.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was expecting something like Simple Rockets or Kerbal. Got whatever this is instead. The whole social media aspect of it really turned me off to the rest of the game. Requested a refund as I don't see myself continuing further with it. I see some reviews say it gets going after a while, but I really don't want to wade through the whole social media thing to get some parts. I am not going to recommend this game, because I'm not entirely sure who the audience is supposed to be. If you want a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The plot's really cringeworthy, it's one of those "Youtube, social media and literally every rich person is actively trying to stomp everyone below them because they're mustache-twirling villains, so let's rise up (also this is all fictional *wink wink it's a parody* trust us)" kinds of plots, the live-action cutscenes bounce back and forth between good and bad (the CGI doesn't hold up at all, which is weird because it looks fine during gameplay), and there's a few other issues I've got with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Next Space Rebels is an unusual and ambitious indie title that blends creative sandbox design, light simulation, and narrative-driven commentary into a cohesive experience that feels unlike most games on Steam. Developed by Studio Floris Kaayk and published by Humble Games, it presents rocket building not as a purely technical challenge, but as a personal, expressive act shaped by experimentation, failure, and public attention. The game frames its mechanics through the lens of internet culture…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun 2D space sim that's got some character to it. The rocket design, despite being limited to 2D, is very fun and has considerable depth to it once you get to liquid fuel engines. The challenges are fun, and the story (though a tad preachy) does it's job decently and holds the game together. As a space nerd, the only thing I really don't like is that there is no real "orbit" in this game, despite it being your primary end-game objective. The world is just one infinite flat plane from what I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like when rocket make me feel smart. Build big rocket
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't want to downvote this game because it's nice. However, it looks more like a hobby of a schoolboy scout than a game for ten bucks. Too childish for me. 5/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Next Space Rebels should have ticked all the boxes for me in terms of games I like, and has a bunch of clever ideas in it. The actual game however is a firm 'nope'. It has a heavy political message, but presented by NPCs who give terrible advice on the game, are we to assume their message is equally bad? The story progress can easily get stuck, unless you do something nonsensical and post a video to the in game 'startube'. The actual rocket building component only bears a loose resemblance to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, I got gifted this game a few years ago and thought it was dumb and a waste of time. I was bored this week, so I decided to really try it out. It kinda surprised me with how fun it was at times. I'll start off by saying that this is not a very complex game. I came from years of KSP, so the building and rocket control systems were extremely basic. If you like that, then great, but it was frustrating at times to feel like I really didn't have control over what my rocket was actually…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's no nice way to say this: It's mid. The gameplay is ok, the graphics are interesting but nothing spectacular, the story isn't bad but short and nothing exeptional, the rocket builder is kinda limited and it's kinda buggy, nothing game breaking but it can be annoying. It's not a bad game and it has it's charm but there's not enough of it to justify the price tag, get it on sale maybe if you want a nich counterculture game and aren't familiar with rocket science but otherwise there's KSP…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game, not enough content for $20, maybe worth a try if it's on sale for <$10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun story with some oke rocket building. Very original and well done.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →dogwater, everythings forced, 0/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has adult content. I let my preteen buy this game not knowing the amount of *f* words that are throughout. Somehow I missed that when I looked into the game before he bought it. Something to be aware of if language is something you filter for when buying games for your kids.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing. Shame on steam for not showing this to me sooner!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game expecting a fun model rocket building game. And while it is that, its also deals with the political issues of a youtube-esque media site which detracts from the enjoyment.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →too much social commentary, not enough rocketry, frequent freezing and crashing; 3 out of 10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a great game but I wish they added the ability to load multiple save files
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dreams launch toward the stars Failure fuels each bold redesign Hope reaches orbit
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is perfect for donuts like me that can't Kerbal but still want to fire stuff into space. It isn't serious with rocket complexity and you get to do dumb stuff like make a human centipede out of mennequins then fire it into the heavens...with dynamite. What more could you ask for? Bonus points for a constant anti-capitalist message and more relevant than ever with the techbroliarchs burning the world for AI slop.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very cool rocket building game. Story is like kinda okay, but it would had been cooler to have more freedom in choices. Like with Wood vs Scrap, just allow me to say no outright. Like two missions were actually hard, that being last one and hovering. Salma is the goat and should had way more screen time. Best wife in the game. All three main cast characters were honestly nothing burger people. Radik managed to be biggest loser in history and now I NEED TO GET HIM BALATRILLION DOLLARS ?…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good Game Update The game destroyed my laptoop peaker than mout everest
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an absolutely awesome experience! I may have been a bit too dumb to get a space-worthy rocketship going, but whoooo booooy! The journey there was such a blast(sometimes literally!) You go from building a tiny rocket that barely gets 20 meters, then collecting trash from random people to build rockets from, collecting toys, bicycles, whatever you can find, to getting deals with better companies to build more suitable rockets. It has a darn good handle on letting you hook up fuel sources,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun i like launching rocket made of trash
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very good game difficult but sill fun getting to creative mode has been a challenge and im still not there but im getting close
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game, complex physics, great endings. But the creators have giving up on the game. so far its been pretty good. But really sad that they've given up on it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was positively surprised how good and addicting this game was. It's a great story and you get to build some rockets as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i did not pirate this game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm going to go ahead & write my review and then I'll edit later if my thoughts/opinions change if/when I beat the game. I'm having a lot of fun with this and think I'll be attempting to finish it out, and have already had enough fun to recommend the game. First of all, if you're like me and you saw the negative reviews and were hesitant.. I think this game is taking a bit of a hit and being judged for what it's NOT, rather than what it IS. I think some of the negative reviews are 'fair,' if a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If Kerbal is BeamNG, then this Forza Horizon, or something even more arcade-y. It's fun to make some silly looking rockets, and even more fun to make the engine glitch out if you make something unreasonably big or stupid. For some people, the story may clash with the silly gameplay, being a commentary on social platforms, freedom of information and privacy on the internet, and giving you all kinds of moral choices to make, but for me it fits weirdly ok. Still, the amount of talking to people is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →you have to be creative and im not good at that
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Garbage, If i wanted to have a Social Media Simulator. i would just be on my phone and not on steam. Poor excuse of a KSP ripoff
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If it was more about building rockets and not stupid challenges, then I would say buy it, but I don't.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok so I don't usually write reviews, but I thought it might help someone. I LOVE this game. I was leery about buying it because I'm not good with those ship building games and such. But this one holds your hand without telling you it is holding your hand. You slowly learn things and you don't have all this technical junk to watch out for. It is really a lot of fun and it is relaxing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →what a fascinating critical and addicting space sim social networking sim sim... most likely the best game i´ve seen in quite some time, especially when it comes to design !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know about other people, but when I saw this game I was like "Wow this looks really fun to play!" but once I installed it, it was more of a text reading game. I think if it were $10 then it would be worth it, but at $19.99 without a sale, it's a no from me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game isn't bad, it just really wasn't what I expected. At least for the portion I played the focus was far more on the social media interactions than the rocket building. The thing really pushed me to refund was the creeping discomfort of not really having control over your social interactions either. Spoilers for a couple early missions: When interacting with Sid there's no way to say 'hey, why don't I just not destroy your favorite toy, it's cool' if you say not to use the stolen…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Had to sit and think on this one, originally got it as a break from KSP, Simplerockets and own, intermittent OpenRockets/hobbyist projects, but it falls pretty flat, mostly from beating you over the head with social commentary, unless that's your jam. Basic gameplay loop is slap stuff together until it works (see also: model rocketry) and click through a Not-Telegram while engaging in forced dialog with minors and realising that YouTube Bad (I mean...yes, but give the audience some credit) I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the best game ever!!!!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun. you can get stuck tho
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately this game doesn't seem to like my particular hardware config, Hard crashes constantly capturing mouse and making it difficult to force close without restarting system. Crashing on initial game load, return to blueprint, video export ect. Neat little game, might try again in the future, There are options to make chat dialogue load instantly so you don't have to wait, videos are skippable if you just want to get to launching rockets. Neat premise, nice low stress interesting game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is a very unique game but it has many bug as in if you press go to launch sometimes the rocket will be under the map and sometimes when you press finish it gets rid of the rocket designing tool for the session.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are looking at this kind of game with interest it probably means you are the exact kind of audience to get it. 10/10 experience. Engaging and funny story, challenges increasing in difficulty and you will see your ambitions for the starts only rise.
