You like clever chess-like logic moves that make you feel like a boss when you pull off a slick combo? Check. You like FTL-like procedural generation and tough-but-fair gameplay? Check. And believe it or not, they mixed bullet-hell with turn-based gameplay... And it worked brilliantly. There is some serious meat-on-the-bone for a mere five bucks. Tons of polish, too. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Judging by the lack of reviews at the time of writing this, I would guess that this game isn't selling very well, which is a damn shame. While it may not have the depth of FTL(which I assume is a partial inspiration), it is exactly what's advertised... which is a criminally hard thing to find these days. It's brutally difficult, and could use a balance patch or two in my opinion, but when you string together a X9 combo on your 1st turn? Feels good, man... John Goodman. On a personal note, on…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game where you fly a spaceship and shoot enemies ✅Different ship types, each with a different style ✅Different enemy layouts ✅Fast-paced combat ❌Very poor interface. It took me a while to understand what was going on ❌Too much chaos in this game ❌Poor controls ❌Poor soundtrack ❌Very poorly balanced difficulty; you can encounter either easy or very difficult enemies ❌I strongly advise against buying this game at this price; there are many better games in this price range ❌❌❌Verdict: Bad ,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well now, it's time to review yet another roguelike... or is it a turn-based strategy game? Bullet-hell? Yep, Next Jump: Shmup Tactics is all three of these things at once. These genres seem like they absolutely should not go together... it sounds totally nonsensical. But not only is the combination viable, but it works out really well here. In this game, your overall goal is to reach the Dragon Mothership and defeat it, because apparently they stole your space beer (???) and ran off with…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is no variety in tactics, you are performing the same actions every jump. There is no necessity to buy different weapons since they aren't that useful compared to your upgraded basic weapon and enemy variety had no effect on the way I played the game, it didn't force me to adjust my playstyle or tactics. Decisions where to jump next were not meaningful, there was always a shop nearby to jump to. I have cleared this game in amply over an hour and have no desire to replay it, I don't see…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A turn-based shmup, you say? It works well, you say? Next Jump: Shmup Tactics is a fairly unique game, it’s a turn-based shmup game with some roguelite/FTL type elements. I really wasn’t sure what to expect when I went into the game, but I was pleasantly surprised. NJST doesn’t play anything like a traditional shmup, which is great because it should make this game appealing to people who are and aren’t fans of the genre. Essentially you have an FTL-style premise where you’re jumping between…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too many possitive feedbacks and "like FTL" comments tricked me into trying this game., But it actually looks unfinished, the ship is useless unless batteries are bought, they cost around 700 but enemies yield 4-5 scrap. Out of nowhere, 999 scrap is granted for free after reaching some level of reputation (???). Graphics are terrible, everything looks messy, bullets look like energy or powerups, it's impossible to distinguish between going for the grab or avoid, even background has moving…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Man, do I hate Shmups. Reaction speed simply isn't my strength. And that goes for everything; games, T.V quizes, arguments, knocking over my glass and spilling beer across the table. If, like me, you can whup your friends at board games as they roll their eyes at how long you take, but then lose miserably at Mario Kart, you know what I'm talking about. Never was there ever a genre of video game less suited to the thoughtful tactition as bullet hell shoot-em-ups. Imagine the satisfaction,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is an absolute mess to try to understand... it's free... okay sure... thanks for the garbage. The premise seems incredibly simple but the graphics and mechanics are absolute garbage... you think you understand what's going on but then all of a sudden, 90% of the way through your game, a bunch of random stuff just kills you for absolutely no reason... I beat the game once, was on NG+ mode and I was just getting murked by random attacks and enemy movements... this game SUCKS. The…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Prelude: The developer reponds quickly, this is always a plus, so if you can get past the issues I personally had, I'm sure they'll work with you to fix any bugs encountered later in the game. This is always a good sign, regardless of if you personally do or don't like the game. I wanted to enjoy this game... but... The Tutorial is reading through a literal manual with only 2 or 3 interactive parts, all of which takes about 15-20 minutes... of solid reading, before you're even allowed to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh poop this game is fun. It's going to appeal to a very specific audience. If, like be, you love, bullet hell shooters, turn based strategy games, and FTL-style rogue-lites, a.) I congratulate you on your excellent taste, and b.) you're probably going to love this, because it's at the exact overlap of the Venn diagram for those genres. If you only like one or two of those genres, give it a shot anyway. You might like it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It took a moment or two for this to click with me, but once I did, I was having a BLAST. Mix the tactics found in games like Final Fantasy Tactics or Jeanne d'Arc with the sector exploration of FTL, mix in ship and weapon upgrades, and you have a turn-based tactical shmup that is just a delight to play. At the price, it's a freaking steal I think.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/DXlGfE4IGT4 Flipping design standards to translate a shoot-em-up into a strategy game is a solid foundation to build on. The planing of each move and action feels weighty and the variety of ships helps keep multiple runs feeling fresh. Yet this game really doesn't go far enough with it's best ideas, auto warping from screen to screen makes encounters feel much to brief to really soak in and make meaningful decisions.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Next Jump: Shmup Tactics Gameplay Designed and published by Post Mortem Pixels, their very first game, Next Jump: Shmup Tactics is a casual SHMUP ("Shoot em' Up") space sci-fi real-time strategy game where you, a pilot sent with the mission to destroy a mothership, have to make space jumps and destroy waves of enemies, using real-time strategy, while keeping in mind various variables like: how much damage the ship can take, energy you spend in every action, the scrap you can collect to repair…

Then i found this game and i said "This look very nice, let´s try it!" and when I completed tutorial a knew that this game is absolutely for me. The mission is simple. Destroy ´Em all!. I´m rookie in this game, so i didn´t won it yet, but i can reccomend it to everyone. Graphics is very simple but beautiful, gameplay is also "easy to learn, hard to master" and it´s also very…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish Steam had a neutral button. I feel bad giving this game a thumbs-down, because at times it is fun and the core gameplay is intriguing. However, so much of the game is clunky. For some reason the tutorial spends equal amounts of time explaining things you almost never need to know and things that you need to know just to get started. General gameplay is somewhat unintuitive, as is leveling up and upgrading. The basic weapon you get, with no upgrades, seems to be better than anything you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The tutorial doesn't adequately explain some very key, important gameplay details, like "your turn ends the moment you hit 0 energy, even though you can pick up more energy during that last move", and "the reason some enemies move during your turn is because they have a high energy stat", and I had to look up the very verbose manual to nail down exactly how things worked. Ultimately, every run is more or less the same because the stat upgrades are generally the most useful item to buy, and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Edit after +11 hours: finally got the last achievements for beating the game on Hard. Unfortunately, still struggling to get the "Legend of the Drunken Jumper" for getting all achievements... Tips: use Knight (very versatile), combo a lot with sword mode (pick up energy), buy poison rocket launcher (clears groups of enemies + creates scrap that protects from shots), extra batteries + energy eater + teleport / advanced jump landing to escape in a pinch. Hooooly molly, it's a game with a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →NEXT JUMP: Shmup Tactics blends turn-based tactics with bullet-hell action in fast, strategic grid battles. It’s fun and fresh, though held back by a clunky UI and rough edges. - Rating: 7/10 – A clever hybrid that shines in short bursts. - Video Gameplay - https://youtu.be/cz-LtjEVmNU - Follow my curator page - https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45547027/
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just can't get into the gameplay, and then the button to start a new round stopped working, so I'm done with this game.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good idea but i think it needs fleshed out a bit. the point of a bullet hell game is to avoid shots but do to the small levels i find that there are to many cases i can not do this. i give it a low 5/10 + turnbased tactical fun + good assortment of weapons, upgrades + you don't need to kill anything during bullet hell parts - steep learning curve. you have to keep an eye on alot of things though it will reward players that are good at this. - levels are very small - you can't repair without…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fantastic game if you like small-scale turn-based tactical battles in space. The core gameplay is turn-based shoot 'em up with simplified FTL-like sector jumping in between the skirmishes. It's not really much like FTL except superficially. It's a great game nonetheless! First, the downsides. It's a relatively short game. It's very replayable but even if you like it, you probably won't play for many tens of hours. It's also cheap though. The battle map is small and doesn't contain…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is so awesome! A turn based that looks like non turn based, so many ships, weapons, shields, engines. And every time, you can look for a safe raven with a misterious music behind, relaxing! The game has challenge and worth EVERY penny!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quick enough to play on a whim but deep enough to not get boring after many playthroughs. There was love put into this. Worth the price and then some.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a pretty simple game, although pretty boring. The idea is cool, but the execution is really bland, with stereotypical graphics, art and soundtrack. The gameplay is at first confusing and when you think you know everything, suddenly some random particle kills you instantly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring free game is boring.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A true hidden gem, very easy to get into the "zone" with this one, at least for me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The tutorial is equivalent to them throwing a book at you and telling you to read it before playing the game. Instead of teaching you as you go along, you're just forcefed pages of mechanics ALL AT ONCE. Imagine going on an MMO, being given a max level character and being forced to read every single skill, mechanic, currency, shop etc all at the same time before you even play. Screw that.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't think I could in good conscience not recommend Shmup Tactics, because I picked it up for a couple bucks and enjoyed my time with it - but I don't think I'll revisit it. Negatives: - 15 of my 40 minutes in-game were spent on the opening cutscene and tutorial. There's no need for these to be so involved. It's not a complex story and the parts of the game (most of) the tutorial emphasizes are trivial to understand. - The tutorial's not that good. I re-read how turns/jumps/actions work a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is indeed a bizarre mix of FTL and FTT... and Galaga... and Chess... and I don't even... It's fun, it's mind compelling, it's puzzling. Keep doing what you're doing, this has that FTL feel that I made me love that game. I'm gonna keep playing it, my review is based on very little play time, but I liked what I saw.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The developer did a damn good job with this game! Hats off to you guys. Thanks for this wonderful little gem. :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge! The rules of slow motion dodge ball applies here! Welcome to Next jump, where an insanely detailed intro and tutorial await you. And for your efforts you learn that dragons exist... IN SPACE... and they have a far worse drinking problem then my father. With Beer supplies low and sobriety around the corner, you need to collect as much scrap as you can to power up your ship to get your booze back! Using a unique strategy of gathering energy to keep your turn…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am not reading an entire slideshow, just to play a short game. If I wanted to read a literal manual for a game, I'd play MTG.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →NEXT JUMP: Shmup Tactics is a unique blend of turn-based strategy and shoot 'em up mechanics, but its repetitive gameplay may appeal mostly to genre enthusiasts.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not recommended - the game mechanics is some turn-based mediocrity with additional awful annoyances thrown in AND it is NOT A SHMUP. Have you ever thought that "this shmup needs every shot to be chess move with the horse?" Me neither though apparently this game's devs did. It is as tedious as it sounds. Chess might be fun in a tournament where there is some nebulous fame to gain. Doing the same against a CPU is a net-lose proposition, meaning it will make you MORE BORED as you play it. Your…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An unexpectedly cool tactical game with an original presentation. The developers managed to mix elements of tactics and arcade shooter.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very creative, just like playing chess or Alien Invader Super-hot Version. Aesthetic style is not my favor, maybe someone else would enjoy this. This way to play is quite unique on Steam.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know how I feel about this game. On one hand it has a lot of neat elements and does some cool experimental things. On the other, it feels very clunky, the tutorial is abysmal, the UI is cluttered and confusing, and the gameplay is fairly repetitive and not very engaging. Overall, I have to say this is a cool experiment, but gameplay wise it just doesn't hold up. Jumping from combat to combat every few moves and spending so much energy on attacks makes it feel so weird and nothing like…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like this game. It plays more like a board game than anything else, like draughts/checkers, except you only have one piece and all the other pieces explode. It's not for everyone, but what game is? It's not a big game by any standard, but it's pretty cheap too. I found it a little confusing at first; I went through the tutorial and didn't quite get it, so I decided to learn by playing and got the hang of it pretty soon. The developers have put more stuff online to help new players, so…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hate smumps but this is fun. The plot is silly: space dragons stole all the booze from the 4 starfaring civilizations (who are naturally humans, orcs, elves and dwarves) so you need to run after the space dragon mothership in turn based tactical shmump combat, destroying or avoiding the guard drones they've left along the way. It doesn't really compare to FTL or Into the Breach despite having a few similar mechanics - but it's still good, and considerably cheaper. It's worth buying and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super fun and unique, getting more depth the more i play, and the Dev seems super active and responsive ! I highly recommend and stream it from time to time as well! Good pick up for Roguelike fans
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Games like this are why I'm glad for the refund system - I don't think I'd otherwise have taken a gamble on a game that claims to be somehow a cross between a shmup, a turn-based strategy, and FTL... but that's exactly what it is. The game has a rough tutorial (and some spelling/grammar issues), which unfortunately really doesn't emphasize the game's strong points well. But if you hop into the game proper, comboing becomes an incredibly fun experience. It's hard at first with the 2 battery…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm impressed with this interesting take on turnbased tactics. It's more fun that I would have thought a genre mashup of turn based strategy and space shooter would wind up being. It's a great coffee break game and nice indie title that manages to be challenging enough to hold your focus while remaining casual enough to be enjoyed by just about anyone. Good Stuff Interesting Tactical Gameplay Simple Controls Good Tutorial Easy to Pickup Good Challenge AC/DC Presentation is a Retro Stylish…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a bad idea, but the execution is lacking. It feels repetitive. The intro is so slow and the instructions throw walls of text at you to overcomplicate what should be fairly simple and intuitive.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i wanna 100percent it, its fun)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For me, the game has huge visibility issues. I have to mouse over most things and read the tooltip to see what it is. Is it a pickup or will it damage me? Often sprites overlap, sometimes sprites seem to not be aligned on the grid.
