Released in 1984, the movie still holds up as one of the more socially-prescient, UK-set/UK-feeling dystopias depicted on film. I also like Brazil, V for Vendetta, and Never Let Me Go. #filmsky

But I can never watch it again. It broke my heart. Tied with Ishiguro’s , “Never Let Me Go”. I was a mess after that.
unlabelledView post →Books to Films 📚=🎞️ Never Let Me Go (2005) by Kazuo Ishiguro was released in 2010. Mostly faithful, the film is more blunt as to the dystopian future. A romance is added as part of the tension in the film whereas the book goes for a slow reveal as to the horrors of the clones. 🧬❤️🩹🫂 #booksky #filmsky

I've heard so many great things about it, so many rave reviews, and it just fell flat for me... His critical success and movie reviews surely will not be affected by my feelings though. #BlackReaders #BookSky
unlabelledView post →I'll say this: if this movie succeeds in being worse than the movie of "Never Let Me Go," it'll do so in a blaze of glory. Waititi is... trying something here. That's not always a good thing in his hands, but I think he's physically incapable of making something as *boringly* bad as the NLMG movie.
