It has that classic arcade feel to it without the overspending on coins part. If you are looking for a challenge packaged in archaic gameplay mechanics this game is for you. I nominated this game for the "BEST GAME YOU SUCK AT" award.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the worst shoot 'em ups out there in terms of features and value. No story at all. No difficulty levels. No options besides reassigning buttons. No way to put this in full screen unless you double-click the window (not mentioned in game or on store page). Only one type of attack with no upgrades, although the other girls you unlock after beating them have a different one. Only one model of enemy, besides the girl bosses, in different colors and sizes. Always the same background with…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Steam is dumb and manichaean and doesn't allow players to give a "Mixed" rating to a game, so I went for negative even though my opinion really is mixed. Neptunia Shooter is a cute shmup spinoff the JRPG series that stars Neptune and pits you against several other characters in the franchise, who act as bosses. When you defeat one boss, they will join you and you will be able to switch bewteen all the characters you have. Each one has a specific shot type (forward shot, backshot, charge…

To fix resolution problem change the "high DPI settings" of the game executable: - Find the game executable NeptuniaShooter.exe on your system (manage > browse local files). - Right-click the executable, then select Properties. - Switch to the Compatibility tab and click on Change high DPI settings, under "Settings". - On the new window, under "High DPI scaling override", activate the checkbox: [✓]. -…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very odd Neptunia spin-off. Buy this only with big discount. If you're hardcore fan of Neptunia games or just enjoy/very professional at shmups then you'll probably like it. Or not. This game has everything 8-bit games have: 8-bit sound, 8-bit graphics and super hard difficulty. Don't know how some people can complete it until the very end, but you have limited number of lives and the game will be over once you lose 'em all. Too bad there's no option to place mediocre mark in recommendation…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a meh game, not particularly something I'd recommend to a bullet hell fan or a Neptunia fan unless you're looking to complete your collection For a bullet hell game, it is extremely barebones and feels quite clunky to play. It lacks a tutorial, any way to practice a single stage (you'll have to simply play the whole game over again if you want to fight a specific boss again), and a way to play previous stages with newly unlocked characters (for instance, you can never play stage 1 as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cash grabbing trash. No fullscreen. High difficulty. You cannot even select particular levels and you have to start over again everytime. If this was an indie game, it would be trash. And it's a game from a medium company.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun shmup game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, this game is quite enjoyable. The music is great, the pixel art is simple, but does its job, the levels are challenging, the bosses are challenging, each character plays differently, the final boss is quite satisfying to beat. Recommend it. And try to beat the game first without any cheats, then use something like Cheat Engine to add score and lives are stuff for the achievements. One achievement requires you to not get hit, so practicing will help.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →an ok, bullet hell game but its a bit to hard than is should be. Neptunia Shooter is your very basic shump but here when you beat a boss you can turn into them to attack in new ways well 1 new way since each one only has 1 attack. sadly as you get more characters swapping between them can take a sec and you don't always have seconds. one reason is the screen is very small giving you less space to move around in. the game does give you lives allowing you to take 1 hit per life but if you lose…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game for relaxing!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game shouldn't cost money. This should be a minigame within a game that costs money. An extremely easy sh'mup that on my first playthrough beat all stages in 15 minutes taking less than 5 hits (I know because I got a chievo for it). Hit this again on my backlog of chievo hunting and managed to get all the rest of them in 2 more passes for a grand total of about 45 minutes played for 100% completion.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Imagine if Compile Heart hyped up the new nep game and it's Neptunia Shooter 2 🤣
unlabelledView post →This actually happened to my buddy Sean.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredibly shallow title that stretches the definition of "minimal" (I hope you don't want to pause). No powerups, just "hold button" and, after a stage or two, "swap characters for different shot" (but hope the lag on switching doesn't get you killed because it'll eat through lives real quick). Avoid. There are better retro-style shooters on Steam for $5.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(Note: I gave up on this one rather than finishing it because it's harder than it is fun. But I made it to stage 5 out of 6 before giving up the ghost!) Neptunia Shooter is ... alright, I guess? That's about all there is to say, it'd be better if the controls for changing weapons worked better, or if there were difficulty modes, or really much else other than an 11-minute-long game that gets the rest of its playtime out of killing the player and making them start over. While that's somewhat…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I came to it seeking distraction. What I received was gnosis. The bullets are not projectiles, but verses of an arcane liturgy. The hitbox is not a mechanic, but the eye of a storm where mortal and divine briefly touch. When you no-hit a boss, you are not playing well—you are performing alchemy, transmuting focus into revelation. They say the ancients carved warnings into temple walls about this game. That the first prototype was found etched onto a neutron star. That when you unlock the True…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty great bullet hell with the Neps. Surprisingly difficult, which I really didn't expect here. The only problem with this game is that it doesn't tell you how to fullscreen (you have to double-click inside the window, which is a very unusual way of doing that).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought the game as a meme, nothing more. Its an April fools game so don't expect much.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Touhou style. Love the music and pixel art. The characters have different types of shots and you can switch them after you defeat them.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the soundtrack and pixel art.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a nice time waster, I got it as a gift from a friend who knows I'm a hardcore Nep Fan! Overall fun considering I'm not into bullet hell, but didn't keep my attention too long since I suck... BUT NEP IS HERE SO 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is too hard
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This Game is very basic, but very hard. I would not recommend playing it, as it has a bunch of problems. This Game could easily give the player a different button for every kind of attack you unlock, to not have to switch through multiple characters when wanting a different weapon, as it needs you to use everything. It also wants you to memorize everything to be able to clear it, because if you're only reacting, there will be times in which it becomes impossible to dodge attacks. You also…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Charming, Challenging Spin-Off Neptunia Shooter takes the beloved characters of the Hyperdimension Neptunia series and throws them into a retro-inspired bullet-hell shooter. While it’s a far cry from the RPG roots of the franchise, this spin-off offers a fast-paced, arcade-style experience that’s simple to pick up but tough to master. Gameplay – Tight and Addictive The core gameplay is straightforward—dodge waves of enemy fire while blasting through colorful Dogoos and facing off against…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a fan os Smups I'd say this one is on par with Touhou IN in terms of difficulty. The character rotation is hard to get used to at first though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice game to play in short bursts. There are only 5 stages but they are quite difficult and adds up to the arcade replay value of the game. It's always nice to see more Nep nep but this game is very simple overall. There are a few gimmicks like being able to change to different characters with different shooting bullets, which was quite interesting and added a little bit of depth to the gameplay, but in the end I think this mechanic made the game harder because it takes a few button presses to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4 / 10 Ehh, way too simple of a bullet hell game to the extend that you can't exit the game without alt+f4 if in fullscreen (atleast I didn't see any option to quit). Bullet hell sections are okish, but bosses don't have any indication of how low they are and game mechanics aren't explained at all (like how you can switch characters, took few tries until I even knew you could do it). Gameplay is okay and price is really cheap, so it is almost recommend (might be recommend for die hard nep…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good spinoff game for Nep fan. Not as hardcore as dedicated bullet hell games but challenging enough for an hour of fun. 9/10

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →pew pew.... pew? Gosh, what am I doing? I really need motivation for other things.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not bad, but not good either. This game is just a standard shoot-em-up with Neptunia characters. There’s nothing innovative about this game nor is there anything too particularly wrong either. The only complaint I have with this game is the character cycling which made the game progressively difficult for the wrong reason. I know a lot of people have a hard time with this game so, most people won’t notice it in the long run, but I know for a fact I could have had an easier time with the game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pro/con list time. PROS - Cute and charming - Switching characters on the fly is cool - Controls are great - Satisfying sound effects - Great music - Cheap - Cool boss fights CONS - Extremely difficult - Short - No ability to go fullscreen
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fairly certain this is a joke game that can't be beaten by a human. I've played entire touhou games easier than this game's second stage. Buy if you like unfair danmaku. 3/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really Meh game at best. The quality isn't any better then a Flash game you can play for free, I played it for a few minutes and yeah, pretty uninterested despite being a Neptunia fan. Compa is pretty lousy to use in it, and it took me maybe the second try to realize I can swap her out with Neptune at the beginning, not needing me to beat her level first or anything. You'd really, REALLY have to love bullet hells to enjoy this, but even then there are better ones.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neptunia Shooter is a 2D side scrolling arcade bullet hell/shmup where the traditional spaceship/warplane has been replaced with a cutesy anime girl from the Neptunia RPG franchise, and the enemies are all cutesy JRPG pixel blobs. I don't think the cross-promotion made the Neptunia franchise better and it sure as hell didn't add anything of value to the bloated 2D retro pixel arcade shmup genre clogging the pipes on Steam. At least it's not a pixel platformer? Anyway, to judge the game on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game isn't good and it isn't bad. Your enjoyment of it will depend more so on your interest in Neptunia than it will on your interest in shmups. I only played through the first few stages and it just didn't hold my interest. The first four stages feature only different colored Dogoos for enemies. They have the most basic of animation. Even when they twist to fly diagonally, they've clearly just been rotated and look awful. Admittedly they have different actions throughout the stages…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →BRUH WAY TOO HARD FOR ME LMAO I cant even reach stage 3 also not really worth $5 as i havent even/CANT completed the game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neptunia Shooter is a very cute side-scrolling shooter. As a fan of the Neptunia franchise, I can say that this game has gotten waaaaay more attention than it should have from the developers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First off this is an excellent mix of old school shooters and more modern bullet hell games as well. The Neptunia aesthetic works well within the game. I’ve seen people compare this to an NES game and while I understand why, this is completely incorrect. The game is designed and modeled after the Sega Master System through and through. The sprites and color palette as well as the music is all emulated from that system. Which if you think about it makes perfect sense since Neptune herself…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →honestly good to occupy your time for like 30 minutes before getting frustrated and stuff
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun, even though I am terrible at this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun shoot em up. Love the music and the quick switching of characters.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've love these kinds of games cause I remembered I use to play them a lot, but now since I'm rusty at them it will take time to get back into them. Thank you Neptunia Shooter of becoming a thing. I recommend this if you love the game genre that Neptunia Shooter is in.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →much shooting, so wow
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you want to try out a Touhou inspired parody with the Neptunia Cast then this game is up to you. However, it doesn't really give that Hyperdimension charm as it's a bit of a basic shooter game with Neptunia characters. The graphics and music are decent but the difficulty to casual players can get a bit too rough if they don't know what they are doing, Especially with Stage 2. And I'm sure not going to get the damage achievements any time soon. I'd probably wait for a sale on this one as it…
