60 of 182 · most liked firstThough I saw it in other reviews, I decided that people were overreacting and bought the game. The inability to quit+save mid run is awful, the runs are quite long and you're stuck with the option of quit or be stuck playing for a very long time. If not for that, this game would get a thumbs up, but it's bad enough that by itself it earns a thumbs down. Otherwise a fairly fun game, I suppose. Update. I played a bit more. Apparently if you take too long on a level it sends a reaper that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was very patient with Wall World, but I ain't with this one. Time-based games that you can't save your current run is a big NOPE. You can only "Give Up" your run. No saves. It's a huge rinse and repeat. When you finally unlock the second world, you can't even do it properly, unless you farm the first world a hundred times - many long runs - which is cute, until they send 5 titans your way. Also, the game starts to drop in frames when it gets too intense, so time goes even slower. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The idea is nice and all, but its very repetitive and can easily turn into an idle game. On top of that there a bunch of bugs and unfinished things that havent been fixed in many many months, i doubt they ever will. Things as silly as abilities having the wrong name, like there is two robot arms, one is a big saw "Steam Saw" and the other is a machine gun "Steam Saw"... Wait thats not right. TLDR it feels like whoever made this wanted to bring it out and already lost motivation, they then…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't understand why this game is 99% identical to the original one and still it feels much worse. Also, the way it sets limits on you and makes to replay over and over to get enough gold and titan body parts is ridiculous. The worst sequel I could imagine. PS A separate "thanks" to devs for a skippable trophy to be defeated by a titan hand!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like in Necrosmith 1, you build creatures out of body parts. In this game, the story is spread out over three mini worlds. You've a bit more control over your units and there's the added titans. And there's the problem. Without titans, you die. Simple as that. Normal units are worthless against bosses. Units are mostly crap either. While in NS1 it was fun to experiment and find 'secret' ingredients, here, you'll hardly ever unlock a *good* formula because most of it is either too weak, or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →no Save & Quit, only Give Up, wtf???
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly, I don't recommend the game. I finished all the content in about 10 hours. If the story had been engaging or cool, and it took 10 hours to tell a great story, I would have loved it. But there's no story. I played 3 maps, and there's nothing else to do. I tried to justify the purchase by giving it a few more hours, but I give up now. It feels like a demo of a game. There's no endless mode that I discovered to have fun with the game mechanics. After completing the 3 arenas, you just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Doesn't matter how neat the game is. You cannot release a game with this kind of sound design, where you have units CONSTANTLY spam casting their abilities with INSANE sound effects. If you have two Pharaos, you literally have to play the game on mute. It feels like they've not even played their own game or play tested it, cause it's impossible that anyone who have would find this acceptable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →slow-paced, a hidden achievement that you can miss and youd have to create another save file to accomplish it if you do. 3 levels that shows no improvement in gameplay whatsoever. Just doesnt work for me. (I will still 100% it tho since im just built like that) Edit: I 100% it and i still stand by my review
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Slow and boring. Its like an RTS except you really don't control your troops except for some vague commands. Sure you can directly control a SINGLE unit at a time but you have to manually walk your little guy over to where you want them to go but as soon as you click away from them they go back to doing whatever they were before. Building creatures is fun the first couple of times but when you have to do it over 30 times during a map you just end up clicking whatever is at the top of you list.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Warning. Abandonware - Devs promised fixes, adjustments, and more then went completely dark. Want to grind level 1 for hours just to beat level 2's absurdly high difficulty? Then repeat for level 3? Then this is the game for you! Mix'n match of body parts is a fun gimmick, although it is explained very poorly. Unit AI is absolute garbage. The body part inventory view is absolutely horrible once you start getting a lot of parts.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting tower defense mechanic in that you harvest body parts to make your own creatures to fight your battles for you. I had fun playing a few runs on the introductory map and seeing that there are secret recipes to discover. It seems a core aspect of this game is having the player discover which body parts to combine to get set bonuses. Without that mechanic, I don't see anything in this game to make players want to keep playing. But the body part inventory management is atrocious. You…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is essentially NecroSmith 1.5. If you liked the first game, you will like this one. One big complaint is the absolutely dreadful lag that happens the longer the game goes on. I don't know why the devs haven't fixed it still, but this seems like such a critical thing to deal with... EDIT: Yeah, the game would be more fun if it didn't turn into a race against time (that is, the horrendous late-game lag).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To start, Necrosmith 2 feels like the first game on half-time. The movement of in game troops, alongside the slowly animated UI and the requirement to press multiple buttons to make selection choices is increasingly atrocious. For instance, having to press two buttons to confirm building structures: In the first game, resources were gained fast enough that building was actually fun and happened at a quick enough pace that a confirmation button was practically useless. That, alongside the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Starts interesting and great. Becomes grindy, repetitive, idle, tiring. Secret recipes you say? Yay... that is, until you realize how hard it is to discover them, even after hundreds of combinations had only one. The game is too small to even discover the 300+ recipes. And even if you do it, by early figuring out how, the mechanics are making them instantly useless. There are artifacts making your monsters more powerful, than recipes... so why create a 1- or 2-races monster for minimal boosts…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I booted up Necrosmith 2 and saw the Alawar Games logo, it made me realize that I own quite a few games that have been published or developed by them. However, whether that is indicative of their quality or their price point is an aspect that I'm still on the fence about. In my opinion, many of Alawar's products share a similar space with Goblinz Studio (another game developer & publisher). Specifically, they tend to be at an affordable price point (often going on steep discounts), have…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It would be such a great game if the devs just actually fixed it, especially the memory leak so you cannot play more than 1 match at a time, or press pause, or go fullscreen, because any of these things usually triggers some sort of lag that slowly gets worse and worse. play the 1st one if you are going to play one, atleast it doesnt have the same issues this one has and is still a solid game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its really weird, incredibly easy (pretty much a free win) until at the very end one enemy base sends INSANELY strong enemies that just 1 shot everything you summon and then instantly destroy your tower... idk
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →unplayable. once you reach mid part of the game it takes up all of the memory and dies.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The scaling from one map to the next is insanely harder making it just not fun it seems like a cool idea and the system in place for strategy isnt bad I just think the scaling from map 1 to map 2 is extream, I go from not losing a unit to losing any unit that comes out base units get wiped like they are toilet paper and the better units put up a fight for a moment then get overrun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want a NecroSmith game that goes on forever. Always so sad when it ends and the compulsion loop is gone :(
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game's tutorial sucks. I get into the tutorial and it's like, "Make 4 skeletons" I start making skeletons, not knowing I'm giving them orders to ignore enemies and just gather resources, I make two of these, then my tower gets attacked. It tells me I need to have skeletons guard the tower, I click the defend order... but this only tells a new skeleton to defend the tower not existing ones. I try click on the the skeletons, it gives me control of the skeleton, I don't want this I want to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So many shortcomings but still fun to play. Could have been an awesome game but ends up mediocre. High playtime due to leaving the game running over night multiple times, as there is no save feature during a level.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A significant improvement from Necrosmith 1. There are more parts to play with, new relics to pick from, new spells to use, titans to summon and several environments to do it all in. If you liked the original, give this one a shot as well :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Adds little to the first game other than length. Could have been a DLC that I would have looked favorably upon but otherwise not a worthy sequel title.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is not by any chance a bad game, but boy it gets boring really, really fast. Also, the difficulty curve is like a rollercoaster - you start with nothing, then you are beyond godlike and can withstand over one hour long runs just to get back to basically nothing and you have to start over again. The worst about this is that the game gets repetitive really, really fast - after about 8 hours in I had to push myself to even play it, when I really liked the first one. If you have an…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Better than the first NecroSmith because that game was more of an open Beta. However, this game still has the same problems as the first. The game is yet another meta-progression mobile game. I don't mind meta-progression upgrades as long as the upgrades make the game easier and aren't mandatory. This one is mandatory grinding, for many hours.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all, I'd like to reveal Alawar's cunning plan to artificially boost play time for this game by not having a save feature. All jokes aside, a good run can take quite some time. So if you don't have enough time available you need to leave the game running in the background. Thankfully it's not a taxing game for your pc. Necrosmith 2 is an addictive mix of Tower Defense, 3X(you don't EXpand), Crafting and Auto Battler. You can control one unit at a time though, which is a great…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Is this UE 4 or PowerPoint presentation? Once you’ve uncovered around 70–75% of a large map, the framerate doesn’t just drop — it quietly lies down like a tired elk and refuses to get back up. We’re talking 0–1 FPS, the kind of slideshow you’d expect from an ancient laptop running in a wooden cabin with three meters of snow on the roof. The rest of the game sits in that strange comfort zone between “fine” and “why bother”. The grind is tolerable, the so-called “hidden” recipes are about as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i did play through the first one, but i expected more from the second installment, except having added alot of new systems and more stuff to the game, it feels too overwhelming and boring, and you simply play for the grind i dont know why i bought this, im cooked.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →...it's the same game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is too short, only three not very large levels and one mixed one larger. The main story and achievements go by quickly, but you're left with grinding for all the artifacts, since you don't need most of them and you can only use 4 and upgrade everything in the tower, but unfortunately it's too expensive and useless. The game is not very difficult compared to the first part and before you have unlocked or upgraded everything you have already gone through the story. And all that remains…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ehhhhh its fun but it gets pretty repetitive after completing the first world, not enough progression for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game is really poorly done, fps drops to single digits beyond the first level through normal gameplay YET SOMEHOW doesnt use more than 40% of cpu, memory or gpu (so its not an issue where running out of resorces is the fault) oh and bug reporting doesnt work either, so no refunds cause you wont see this issue until after the first level. huge disappointment, which sucks cause the game is genuinely fun, it's just unplayable after the halfway point
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After finishing the second part I came back to the first and realized that SO many aspects of the game have been polished that it deserves a positive review, although there is not much variation to the gameplay (the titans are pretty but make the game easier rather than more challenging. I hope the third part will see some gameplay variations like different tasks or handicaps or, if I can truly hope, some form of multiplayer. Still, a job well done for a quick, casual game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game just does not seem to work for me. Despite the improvements that they have made on the first one, this game just is not very fun. Units can now all be assigned to a specific task: hunt down lairs, defend the tower, explore the map, etc. This is really, really good. It helps a lot to do this rather than have them wander around aimlessly like in the first game. Another improvement is the ability to create a titan zombie made from the parts of hundreds of little zombies. They are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the game, but it's way shorter than I expected. On my third run of the Master Disc, I found two Prototype recipes, never used a single vampire part, never used a single cyber dinosaur part, never used a divine tier titan part.. and beat the game. After that, it's just Chaos runs.. There should really be two more worlds.. even if its just recycled-enemy no-story maps. I had another ten to twenty hours in me, but the game ended and now I'm back here on Steam, looking for my next fix.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is more of a final thoughts list than a review: Fun little game, easy to play, not really idle for more optimal gameplay. Fun trying to figure out all the recipe combinations. Progression between disks is a bit tough, especially to the Master Disk. It seems strange that in that disk, the top tier units from the previous disk are completely useless and can't even survive against the first wave of enemies. I wasn't able to succeed until I had the mecha generator building unlocked to build…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i would love to keep playing this game so i can actually judge it but after the first run it gets stuck on the ´´use gold to repair and upgrade devices and items´´´screen im clicking to buy the upgrade its hovering and it just wont let me buy it and i cant hover anything else besides that one item that i am forced to buy to progress and it wont let me buy it ive restarted the game and i even redid a new run to see if it had something to do with that but no it simply wont let me continue…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately becomes unplayable because of fps issues during a long run
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's really close to being a top tier indie game, but it settled for, not just, being mediocre, but being predictable. Torn on the review but, it gets your hopes up and really just lets you down.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is fun, but it is abandoned; there have been no updates since its release.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is being developed by russians; be careful and don't buy it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It seemed good on paper but it's actually very linear in its development. There is also no save mechanic, so you can forget about casually playing this. There's just the grind.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think the game needs more levels and monsters and mechs to spawn as well as more story going in further.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game feels more like it should be an update to Necrosmith 1... The Gameplay didn't really change much and the additional stuff to do seems kind of similar. QoL Feature that are missed in Necrosmith 1 are in here, and some of the content could be a simple DLC and not a game of its own. Also the balancing seems to be kind of weird, you have to have a Titan 24/7 at the base defending, everything else doesnt make sense because normal units can't do anything against titans, not even holding it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's okay, a little different than some games but it is also grindy in a bad way just to make it last a little longer and it is still not a long game. Very linear as well. Needs a neutral button.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game you'll finish in 10 hours and find yourself asking "It's over already?". Very fun to play, no replayability value for me. Grab it when it's discounted.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay, played for three hours, feel ready to write a review. Short and sweet, I am enjoying myself. The game is not, however, what I was expecting. For me, a traditional tower defense game has a path along which you build towers, this is one of those games where you have a tower, and enemies can come from any direction. Plays more as a real time strategy game to me. Still, I am enjoying it. The core of the game is your ability to build an astounding array of undead types as the game progresses.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I seriously dont get the reaper. just wen im getting some gold boom reaper comes and just ends it. at least make it possible to beat him just really hard or something. instead he a big middle finger to the last 20 minutes ive spent playing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNINGGGGGGGG THERE IS ONE HIDDEN ACHIEVEMENT WHERE YOU HAVE TO LOSE AGAINST SPECIFIC BOSS (SECOND MAP) OTHERWISE YOU WILL HAVE TO CREATE NEW PROFILE AND PLAY ANOTHER HOURS TO GET IT. OVERALL GOOD GAME BUT AUTHORS COULD HAVE JUST MADE THIS ACHIEVEMENT EASIER TO GET AFTER FINISHING GAME. 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →art style looks nice, UI is decent but gameplay is pretty mediocre.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the first game to bits & was excited to try this, but it's just not in a good state right now. The game, despite it's small file size & listed resource use in task manager, drags everything else to a halt on a relatively powerful PC. With the game open YT videos don't even play. As soon as I close it they start up again. OBS goes on the fritz with this game open, I didn't dare to try streaming with it in that state. I truly hope this game gets the hotfix it needs & I can change my…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is interesting, not quite what I expect for a tower defense. Lot of interesting mechanics like frankensteining together allies, but it's a bit too fiddle-y * Liked the look of this game, fit the theme * Gameplay was fun, it's just not the type of game I would normally play * Price was fair * The story was really cute, wish I wanted to keep going but the gameplay itself was just not for me. Not my type of game * I don't think I'll play this again, but I would recommend if it interests…

I get to play the game before its release on March 26, thanks to Vicarious PR. See you Monday the 25th, 6am PDT/1pm GMT!
unlabelledView post →Fun towner defense game were you play the bad guy and send out undead to take over the land.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun, chill, a bit silly. Gets repetitive quickly. Long runs with no ability to resume sucks a lot.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Much more challenging than the first game, where the first game was more relaxed (but just as much fun!). Should consider the first Necrosmith before playing this one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite entertaining and unique game. Not the greatest ever, but good enough to spend some hours on. Definitely worth trying when on discount. Basically a combination of tower defense, resource farming and crafting. The interactivity is great, the progression seems fun so far. Not a big fan of its building mechanics, kind of weird with blueprint finding IMO and some of the bonuses seem useless. It could also use some speed-up mechanism.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →longevity through enforced failure/defeat makes for frustration. exciting concept, but you are gonna lose your temper as you navigate the ui (especially the '''''commands''''' you give units)
