My Time at Portia is a 2019 farm life sim role-playing video game developed by Pathea Games and published by Team17. Playing Stardew's got me back in my cosy game phase Got My Time at Portia reinstalled and it's just so...COSY. Very Stardew like, only real difference is no farming and animals but other than that it has that Stardew feel Just cosy, nice, romance options and easy to get into

Look, My Time at Portia is a perfectly nice, pretty game, but it suffers from a severe case of "Older Sibling Syndrome." It walked so its sequel could sprint. If you are a die-hard cozy game fanatic who needs to inject every single crafting simulator directly into your veins, buy it. You’ll have a lovely time. But if you’re a regular human playing this today, the entire experience is going to feel distinctly... off. Playing Portia now feels like trying to build Ikea furniture while wearing…

This is one of those games I desperately wanted to love. On paper, it has everything I usually enjoy: a cozy post-apocalyptic setting, crafting, relationships, a charming art style, and that slow-burn “build a new life” promise. The community loves it, the reviews are glowing, and everyone talks about its heart and potential. I went in fully prepared to agree with all of that. And honestly? I really tried. I gave it time. I pushed past the awkward early hours, told myself the systems would…

The developers have a very bad habit of not fixing old bugs... which is why, despite me actually enjoying the game I can't recommend it until they get better about this. This is a problem for their other games too, they drop support to work on a new project despite some bugs causing straight up crashes... it's scummy and bad. If you want to give this game a try please wait until it's super on sale cause it is NOT a $30 game. Bugs/Major problems I've seen: - Crashes. It didn't happen a ton on…

I can't say that I haven't enjoyed this game; it's really slow but in a way that can be kind of relaxing. The reason I cannot recommend this game is that it's just so buggy. It freezes every so often, it's clunky, it feels unfinished, and I could honestly look past all of it except that this game has been crashing nearly every other time I attempt to play it. An in-game day lasts almost an hour. How many days can you get to the end of just to lose all of your progress before it just isn't worth…

This game looks cozy, but it really isn’t by default. My Time at Portia is an efficiency and progression game disguised as a life sim. You can play it slow, chill, and make it cozy and farm, socialize, decorate, take your time but progression will be very slow, and you will miss out on a lot of advantages. The game heavily rewards planning, early tech unlocks, and good stamina management. If you don’t optimize at least a little, everything just takes longer. You’ll always be grinding for…

This was my first cozy game. To be honest, I had always been a little hesitant about the genre because I dislike routine and endless repetitive tasks. What convinced me to give My Time at Portia a chance was that it looked more exploration-driven than farming-focused. And, at first... it absolutely worked. The soundtrack is beautiful, the world is charming, exploring new areas felt genuinely rewarding, and slowly uncovering Portia, meeting its quirky residents, discovering new mechanics, and…

I came to Portia after completing Sandrock. I also completed Portia. I do like Portia but I LOVE Sandrock. Both games share the same core gameplay, which I found enjoyable. Portia is just a bit more grindy, requiring a lot more attention from the player early game. I found myself enjoying the extra challange but I can see players getting overwhelmed and frustrated with the lack of QOL we had in Sandrock. QOL improvements do appear later once you max your equipment. Once you get the factory…

A friend of mine praised My Time at Sandrock, so I thought I'd check out the series where it started. It's got charm, the music is alright and the main missions have a fair pace to them. However, the way items are managed in this game is missing some serious quality of life improvements (that aren't end-game only), the combat feels pretty bad (and is mandatory) and every NPC comes with the same "Lights are on, but nobody's home" type of vibe. All of which wouldn't be that bad if you wouldn't…

With My Time at Portia, I actually gave the game two chances. The first time, I played for many hours. Then later I started again because I really wanted to see if maybe I had been unfair to it the first time. But unfortunately, I ended up feeling exactly the same. The beginning is exciting. You create your own character, enter this open world, build your own life, get to know the townspeople, form relationships, grow stronger and slowly have an impact on the region around you. Cute graphics and seems pretty relaxing, but unfortunately it constantly crashes on Mac. Like other reviewers have noted, it seems to be tied to play time, but as there is no way of saving prior to reaching that time, you just lose all progress for the day. I guess racing back to your bed (and save point) before your timer for the next scheduled crash might add a bit of excitement to the gameplay, but that's really not what I want from a cosy game!

Rating this game is tough. In a vacuum, it’s a worthy title. It can certainly hold itself against the other games in the genre. The problem is, Sandrock exists, and is fantastic — light years ahead, despite having a similar user score. So I’m hesitant to bridge the gap even more with a positive review. As a compromise, I’m giving Portia a thumbs up, but using the review to blast this game and glaze Sandrock. You know, in case someone actually reads it. Let’s start with a positive, though.…

"Immersive" is a deranged description of this game. Everything from the visual presentation to the voice-acting is jank as ♥♥♥♥. The UI looks like it was made for an iPad tablet game. Presley's voice actor uses an audibly different microphone half-way through his dialogue. The protagonist just abruptly says "Yeah." and "Yup." Quite frankly I think this game is only enjoyable to the easily entertained, it's actually baffling how nobody has pointed out these things.

While I do love this game and had began playing it as addictively as I did with Stardew Valley, I can’t recommend this game at all. This game saves only at the end of the day and doesn’t have an autosave, which is hugely problematic because it keeps crashing. For a game with crafting that's on timers and has you racing across the world map to complete tasks, it’s ridiculous that it doesn’t let you manually save or autosave. This is apparently a big problem and because of the game’s age, it’s no…

Fun crafting game, but I need to stress this is not a dedicated farming sim. Farming is a part of the game, but you are a builder/crafter in this game. Now there's a lot to see, a lot to do, and even a skill tree thrown in there with various action combat styles. My initial one line review would be "Good, but mileage may vary due to how the game handles its mixture of systems." There are flaws dotting the game here and there. The NPCs don't feel very alive, the grinding is a little annoying with how big the map is (grinding can be fun in open-worlds like in BOTW, but it wasn't here), and the gameplay is not very imaginative.
