Ostracized by her more socially adept friends, Muriel runs into fellow outcast Rhonda Epinstalk, and the two move from their small Australian town to the big city of Sydney, where Muriel changes her name and begins the arduous task of redesigning her… From TMDB

It was my first time seeing it on the big screen since 1994, tho I've seen it on DVD, but it was so weird seeing myself on the big screen!! (I was an extra on the film). So strange to see a much younger version of myself!!

(the Peter Weir films were in the "Peter Weir" section)

It leads her to many adventures and ultimately to an arrange pairing. Nothing is what it seems in this movie but its well made and acted #hatm

Britney Spears revealed that she turned down a role in the Chicago movie musical in her new memoir. Spears regrets turning down the role of an unspecified murderous villain in the film after she became too engrossed in her character from Crossroads. Writes Spears: > > > When it came to Chicago, I should've done it. I had power back then; I wish I'd used it more thoughtfully. Chicago would have been fun.…

As part of a longer interview Kate Miller-Heidke talks musical theatre, Muriel's Wedding and Bananaland: “I think I was a very eccentric child, a bit socially backward, a sort of mixture of painfully awkward and introverted and also a terrible show-off who loved to sing. I didn’t know where I fit in for a long time, and then I discovered amateur musical theatre. I found my people. When…

Partly this is because there are fewer people living in Australia - about 26 million compared to 67 million (UK) and 333 million (US). When you have smaller talent pool to tap into, it's not surprising…

The film used the real Videodrama, where Muriel works, which really was directly opposite Roylyn Drycleaners, where her friend Rhonda works. (Watching the film's POV camera go into the doorway of your local video shop was surreal.)

unlabelledView post →I never cease to be astounded that Muriel's Wedding is classed as a Comedy/Romance. If you watch it attentively it is such a grim dark depressing tragic movie. TBF that's what makes Abba such a perfect soundtrack (have you actually listened to Abba's lyrics).
