Monsters University grossed $268.5 million in the United States and Canada and $475.1 million in other countries, for a worldwide total of $743.6 million. Calculating in all expenses, Deadline Hollywood estimated that the film made a profit of $179.8 million. It became the 53rd highest-grossing film of all time, the 11th highest-grossing animated film of all time, the seventh-highest-grossing 2013 film, and the third-highest-grossing Pixar film. The film earned $136.9 million worldwide on its opening weekend. Disney declined to provide a budget for the film; Entertainment Weekly speculated that it was higher than that of Brave ($185 million), mainly because of the high cost of John Goodman…

Just a pair of colorful, big mustache-havin' blokes who've (probably) never before had the pleasure of gettin' their stuff drawn! #nsfw

positive · AI labelView post →I can’t remember what I was trying to see, but my worst movie theater experience is probably the time they played Monsters University instead and the projector wouldn’t switch over after half an hour of trying.
neutral · AI labelView post →#SeptemberMovieChallenge #Moviesky Day 25. Somebody going to school in a movie. I had to 😁 Monsters University (2013)
neutral · AI labelView post →2. Monsters University is the best of the non-Toy Story Pixar sequel films. The ways it expands on both Mike and Sully's characters greatly enhance their relationship and growth in Monsters Inc. and it also has one of the brutally honest morals of any Pixar film while still ending on a happy note.
positive · AI labelView post →...this decade, and I do think it will get even bigger by the end of this decade. With that said, Shi's musical film, Ono Ghost Market, and Monsters Inc. 2 do have me intrigued. (I know, I did not forget Monsters University. But it was mainly a prequel film and not a full on sequel.)

neutral · AI labelView post →#60: Monsters University As far as Disney/Pixar sequels go, aside from Toy Story 2 & 3, this is by far the best. I love its themes so much, and I think it informed a lot of why I don't like superpowered societies that don't explore people with disabilities. I hate the dean though. Stupid bitch
neutral · AI labelView post →Ryan needs to enunciate clearer, I genuinely thought he was calling Monsters University an anime film

positive · AI labelView post →Kid's into MONSTERS UNIVERSITY right now. One of the more charming conceits in the movie is the idea that the Scarers have trading cards like they're famous athletes but they're just, like, the guys who work at the power company. My Dad works for the power company so I find this extra funny.
positive · AI labelView post →Free space: Monsters University whips ass. Funny as hell, chemistry on point and the best message ever afforded in a kid’s film: you can completely fuck up your life plan, have your dreams shattered, and still live a happy and fulfilling existence. Beautiful.
positive · AI labelView post →I think the older I get, the more Im starting to resonate with Monster's Inc as a movie and it might now be my favorite Pixar franchise. Monsters University and Monsters at Work just really fleshed out the universe in a fun, mostly grounded way, and so much care is put into the world building.
positive · AI labelView post →While I still don't like how much of Mike and Sully's history the movie retconned, I still think Monsters University was a perfectly fun film. It was a nice college underdog story and I think that summer camp finale scene was absolutely fantastic
neutral · AI labelView post →1: Monsters Inc 2: Monsters University 3: Toy Story 4: The Truman Show 5: The Bee Movie but ONLY the parts with Joe Swanson
neutral · AI labelView post →Monsters University: 7/10 "Let's make an incredibly average college movie but then slap the audience of children with the cold reality that some people have intrinsic capabilities to achieve their dreams while others just cannot and should pursue other things in life." Damn
neutral · AI labelView post →I was 18 years old. And the movie was This Is The End. Though I suppose I should give context: we were supposed to see Monsters University and instead my friends dragged me to this comedy shitshow. I was so fucking mad lol. i fuckin hate this movie
neutral · AI labelView post →So we all agree Monsters University is a movie about aspecting your disability and succeeding anyway ?

neutral · AI labelView post →14. Monsters University A fun and enjoyable prequel to a Pixar classic. Yes, the plot is mediocre in the middle of the film, but it delivered a better execution with great and colorful animation, the Scar Games being very creative, and hilarious cast of characters.
positive · AI labelView post →It was during that dubious period when every movie got an unfortunate and unnecessary canon-obliterating prequel. (Looking at you, Monsters University.)
negative · AI labelView post →Shoutout to Monsters University. Low key top 10 Pixar movie of all time.
positive · AI labelView post →He's my favourite Monsters Inc character btw Never said how much I relate to him but I do ESPECIALLYY with Monsters University. People were so mean abt that film but I genuinely think its one of the best. Mike is autistic you can't tell me otherwise
positive · AI labelView post →Phil Andrew's secret Pixar movie tier rankings revealed; he has "Up" and "Inside Out" at C but "Cars 2" and "Monsters University" at B
neutral · AI labelView post →Monsters University was admittedly a bit generic as far as college movies go, and I wish the cast outside Mike, Sulley, and Hardscrabble got more focus, but I have to commend this film for its message that I think needs to be told more (i.e., "You don't need a college degree to achieve big things.")
neutral · AI labelView post →... for making hit after hit that people started to expect nothing less, so when a film like Monsters University or Luca comes out, people start saying that Pixar is "losing its edge". Honestly, I think it was only inevitable, and those films and others have their own redeeming qualities. I think...
neutral · AI labelView post →Quick-ish fact! Thanks to the prequel movie "Monsters University" from 2013. We learned that human children are not the only source of power, because near the end of the movie. Both Mike & Sulley managed to scare grown adults in order for them to hop back to their world. youtu.be/XR0wS7NmZPs?...

unlabelledView post →I want to care. I DESPERATELY want to care about the idea of a third film. Monsters Inc is one of my all-time favourite movies, but after Monsters University which I found disappointing, and Monsters At Work which was forgettable, I'm not exactly ecstatic. But by all means, prove me wrong, Pixar!

You have to learn to adjust your life goals according to your limitations.'

unlabelledView post →Weird thing is though, until like 2010, Toy Story 2 was the EXCEPTION to that sequel thing (and kinda weird cuz it was their third film). Everything else was original Then Toy Story 3, Cars 2, and Monsters University came out and kinda opened the floodgates. And now they just can't help themselves
