unlabelledView post →Good point. Matchstick Men ( a minor masterpiece of a film, 4/4 stars) with Nic Cage and Alison Lohman is the perfect version of this. He, the master con man, gets redemption by being conned by Lohman.

unlabelledView post →My favorite movie that he’s in is Into the Spider-Verse, but my favorite Nicolas Cage movie is Matchstick Men. Great flick with a gut punch of a twist.
unlabelledView post →I like the last 20 minutes of that movie but the last one of his I was fully sold on was Matchstick Men
unlabelledView post →Nic Cage has some great movies, like Matchstick Men and National Treasure, but as for my favorite, I would probably have to say G-Force, the 2009 live action guinea pig spy movie in which Nic Cage voices a mole.

This is an ode to his performance in the Ridley Scott gem “Matchstick Men”. See more at bloodygooddesign.com/project-cage/. #nicolascage #illustration #bloodygooddesign

unlabelledView post →Pillloried at Thanksgiving when my godson asked me if I’d seen Gladiator II, I rightly noted the first one is a boring mess & one of the one of the worst Best Picture winners & that Scott probably hasn’t made a good movie since Matchstick Men. (I forgot about The Martian in the heat of the moment.)
unlabelledView post →Since the Tyson/Paul fight didn’t work on Netflix, I opened Tubi. The first film to appear was 2003’s Matchstick Men. I haven’t seen it in years, but it features fantastic performances from both Cage and Rockwell.

unlabelledView post →Tony never made a film as amazing as Alien / Blade Runner / Gladiator / Kingdom of Heaven, or launched a franchise, but tony never made a film as dull as Someone to watch over me, or as bad as Matchstick Men. Tony was a lot more dependable, reliable & always entertaining & interesting. miss him.

unlabelledView post →I know I'm late but I wanted to put a plug in for the phenomenally fun "Nine Queens" from Argentina, and Ridley Scott's delightful random heist movie he made in between two massive historical epics, "Matchstick Men" - both are sensational.

unlabelledView post →A-hah!! Haha, how did I forget that!!?? Dang. Hmmm, yeah, my theory NEEDS work... Is Scott big on Director's Cuts these days? (Just been looking through his filmography and I really need to go and give Matchstick Men another watch, love that film)
unlabelledView post →Ridley Scott's best film is Matchstick Men. Your opinion (whatever it is) is wrong on this.
unlabelledView post →Along those same lines, whenever they show a preview for a Ridley Scott film, a find it hilarious when the put in the obligatory “from the director of…” and list 3 of his films. Cousin, his directing choices could not be more random Blade Runner American Gangster Matchstick Men? Same guy.
unlabelledView post →I started with Matchstick Men, my favorite of the post-9/11, pre-World Trade Center set. I fucking love this movie. Ridley Scott nailed it here. Alison Lohman is a treasure, Cage and Rockwell play beautifully off of each other. Solid Cage Freakout at the pharmacy.
unlabelledView post →His performance in Matchstick Men was so fucking good. I love that movie
unlabelledView post →But I really liked his Matchstick Men movie, which was on a really small scale for someone like him.
unlabelledView post →I think they get "best film" mixed up with "favorite film." My fave Nic Cage film is Matchstick Men. Is it his best? IHNI
unlabelledView post →My all time favorite Nic Cage movie is Raising Arizona. Matchstick Men, Lord of War, and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent because it felt like they took his Nicolas Cage-ness and cranked it up to 11. But he was also good in a very accessible way in Gone in 60 seconds and in National Treasure.
unlabelledView post →Matchstick Men is an okay film, but Nic Cage absolutely shines. It's the perfect vehicle for him to do all of the Nic Cage things that we've come to know and love. moviesanduspod.podbean.com?utm_source=b... #moviesandus #matchstickmen #filmsky

unlabelledView post →MATCHSTICK MEN (2003) was the most unexpected movie of the bunch for me. i went in knowing absolutely nothing about it and was so so moved Cage’s performance as a con artist crippled by OCD who reconnects with a long lost daughter is absolutely astounding. i hesitate to say any more: SEE IT!

unlabelledView post →Anyone who would answer The Croods has never seen another Nicolas Cage film. Like, you can pick Face/Off, Matchstick Men, Mandy, Con Air, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, Raising Arizona, or Colour Out Of Space... and that's not even half of the right answers!
unlabelledView post →He's also good in a film called 'Matchstick Men', whose director - Ridley Scott - ruthlessly stopped him from hamming it up, perhaps with a stun-gun. But that was twenty years ago.
unlabelledView post →I like quiet Nic Cage. I like him in Matchstick Men. I like him in Guarding Tess. Hell, I even like him in Bringing Out The Dead even though that movie is piss boring.
unlabelledView post →Thank you, this helps! (I was thinking of the OCD portrayed in the movie "Matchstick Men" which didn't really line up with the how things worked for a family member with OCD, once I got to understand more about it.)

unlabelledView post →You get what you give and (hopefully)... redemption I've heard good things about Ridley Scott's "Matchstick Men", released in 2003, but was reluctant to give it a try since it was about two con-men. It's hard, after all, to care about the outcome of a story if its main characters are swindling scumbags who make their living by ripping others off. Let 'em be wiped off the face of the planet for all I care. But everyone universally praised the film and said it had a good ending that catches the…
