This game looked so promising but the execution falls short and ruins the experience. Controls are clunky and the game demands a certain rate of precision, this goes for both mouse / keybaord and controller. It's sometimes unclear what to do and the game offers no help most of the time. Not possible to check keybinds once ingame, so you'd best not forget them. Lastly, I discovered a point where if you click too fast, the whole game crashes to desktop, yet you can only get past the obstacle by…

Level puzzle game with a nice horror atmosphere. Even though it's dated, it's a good game. The graphics aren't great but the levels are all different and well presented. Not suitable for everyone. My rating 7/10 to take at discount

You could argue it is unfair for me to give bad reviews to decade-old games because they will not let you rebind your keys, but like, this is not some sort of innovative feature that only came about recently. You have been able to rebind the keys you played games with since the early 1990s at least (source: I was alive and playing games in the early 1990s). What drives developers to this level of laziness? Do they think A) every keyboard layout internationally has W, A, S, and D in the exact…

this game is one of artistic dissociation. it can't really decide what it wants to be. the art styles clash with one another -- the 2D cutscenes, the sometimes cartoony platforming levels, the minimalist horror chase scenes, and then the cyberpunk-like interludes. this of course means there's also game styles clashing with one another. is this a walking sim, a puzzle game, a psychological horror game? each stage seems to want to do something completely different. there's no cohesion or flow…

Master Reboot is a 3D puzzle/platformer with few ups and many downs. PROS: + Overall atmosphere and story is ok. + Graphics. I loved the 3D work but i'm a guy who loves watching scene demos so dont count on me for that one. 2D artworks are not any good and cripples the overall story telling. CONS: - Platforming: For that, you have to deliver tight controls, its overall clunky (especially at the end with time limit). - Puzzles: Even exploring to understand what game is expecting from you…

One of the my first major gaming experiences, before dipping into Portal 1, 2 and Bioshock. While obviously neither the in-game graphics or cutscenes compare to those other titles, Master Reboot is a solid, story-driven puzzle and adventure game with some quite beautiful levels (Like the field before you enter the Soul Cloud or the level with the encased neon-tree in it) and enjoyable puzzles. Some levels are deliberately designed simply to be hard rather than fun (The godawful end level…

Master Reboot is the kind of game that intrigues me - it's a cyberpunk narrative game where you explore the memories of a dead person after they were uploaded into a machine to live on. Think Vanilla Sky, but with more of an emphasis on memorial. However, I haven't finished it, and I don't intend to, because the gameplay is at the level of a Steam Greenlight horror game. Some item interaction is clunky and unintuitive, and it's not always clear what you can interact with. There's the cliche…

You mostly just roam around an open level, collecting stuff. Then a door opens and you can move on to doing the same in the level. Some levels do mix things up, with mazes and even zombies at some point, but even then it's just walking forward, clicking on things. I couldn't find a true reason to continue playing it, but I did anyway...…

I rarely write reviews, but this game deserves it. Master Reboot is a hybrid masterpiece combining elements of adventure, horror and mystery games. Considering it's an indie game i'd say the devs put alot of effort in this game and makes me think what they could develop with more budget. Oh, wait! I can see that on their new game "[url=http://store.steampowered.com/app/279900/]Soul Axiom" which sets the surreal environment and awesomeness of the game on a whole new level. Also the graphics…

To start off: This game has the worst metacritic score of anything in my steam library. At first, I did not think this was deserved. The movement seemed a bit clunky and the graphics style wasn't too appealing, but it presented an interesting idea and I thought I would continue to play and see how it went. Though the more I played the more quickly the game seemed to devolve into a chore rather than anything of substance. Typically I have an easy time letting myself be immersed in a game, its…

Not so much of a bad game, it can be fun to play, but I find it doesn't stand up to how it was presented and what I expected of it. My major turn-off's are: - Huge difference of quality amongst graphics, some drawings look very impressive but others are downright ugly. (Most of the cutscene that look like poor flash animation). - There is no story. Troughougts the journey you may collect (optional) clues and journals about what has happened in the backstory, but else nothing will actually…

This was a nice surprise! I did not even read carefully the description....I thought the game was something completely different....some sort of sci-fi exploration game with a slow pace (my bad) but it's not. The game is in 1st person view, it uses Unreal Engine 3 and will last about 4 or 5 hours. It is mostly about exploration, with some puzzles and few platforming fast sections. You begin without knowing anything about yourself, or where you are. There is very little voice acting, you can…

A very ambitious spooky puzzle game. The game consists mostly of solving puzzles in each room to escape, and collecting information to piece together the cyberpunk story. There are a lot of memorable moments and interesting surreal locations. The game is held back by some clunky movement and a couple of obtuse puzzles. Additionally, it features a lot of cheap webcomic level cartoons tellling some of the story. It's not exactly a masterpiece, but I think it's worth checking out if you are…

The sound design is absolutely horrendous, the game relies on cheap audio jumpscares that are tripple the volume of the already unbearably loud game where you cant even separately change the volume level of for example sound effects, its all just mushed up in one audio level. The game is severely lacking in explanations, I'm not one to argue for games to hold your hand along the way but for gods sake, dont just throw the player into cold water and leave them wondering whether the game is bugged…

Finished couple of "levels" and, so far, it hasn't aged too gracefully - the puzzles are just there, the visuals are drab, the story feels way too predictable and the tone is somehow even more pessimistic than SOMA (spoilers). Buy it only if you've got nothing else to play

While the game has a good premise and great atmosphere; it suffers from abstract puzzles and design flaws. First off - If you don't like jump scares, probably best to stay away. There's several in this game; and while they're not so prevalent that they get annoying; some just seem unnecessary. Level design felt average; with nothing standing out that made me excited. Some were cool ideas, while some felt tacked on just to add another puzzle. The dev's have gone with a sort of "abstract…

After a promising initial levels it is somehow a disappointment to relise how little this game has actually to offer. I understand this project has ambitions, but in the end it lacks not only polishing, but also a basic parts like consistency, smooth controls and story/pace ratio that will keep your interest intact thoughout the play. That lack of variety in terms of game design (puzzles, strory telling) results in game being blunt and boring. Also, graphics aren't really special, after said…

Master Reboot is a very strange game. And I honestly still not sure about what I experienced. So essentially, the idea is that you live in a future in which people can upload their memories, personality, and other traits into a cloud service. Your family and friends can then visit these memories or download and install these people’s personalities into robotic shells to continue living with them if they desire. This is a weird, but interesting concept. Unfortunately, there was a crash and some…

I bought this game a long time ago, back when I was playing on a low-end PC and couldn't handle much more graphics-intensive games. This seemed like a really pretty looking game for the minimalist style it was, and I was looking to get into the horror genre without blood and gore everywhere. Well, I made it through the game after buying it. It was suspenseful and had a few jump scares; startled me 2 or 3 times. (I did the entire playthrough in the dark. SpoOoOOoOOoooky) But that was about it.…

It's supposed to be a puzzle game, but all the "puzzles" boils down to just walking around slowly looking for brightly colored things. The controls is slow and awkward you get stuck in invisible collision boxes everywhere and the edges of the levels are lazily just a red grid that appears when you get close. The "action" is constantly interrupted by unskippable cutscenes all the time. And you randomly die a lot. It's also buggy and the graphics sometimes get stuck in super blurry rendering.…

The story is an interesting idea but the gameplay and level designs aren't. They design levels that are open but block off sections with bright red wire fences instead of making intuitive level design that nativly shows you where you can and can't go. The puzzles are decent but there's nothing to write home about. The levels are wildy inconsistant.

Maybe it's simply because I really love sci-fi stories that I give a perfect note for this game, but you cannot find a similar game anywhere ... I'm not saying the game is better than System Shock 2, but it's certainly there breathing on its shoulders. The story about downloading someone's memory/counsciousness inside a virtual world may seem farfetched for some, but if you look into it a bit (Intiative 2045, Google Deep Mind) we might be getting there sooner than we think. Master Reboot is a first person adventure/horror game. The ambience and the levels are pretty good, but the experience is overall a letdown. The game crashed just before ending a level that took me 30 minutes to complete, and for me, that's a big no-no. Not only is the game full of jump scares that are so obvious they're almost cringe, the puzzles are also extremely tedious... I totally do not recommend this game, there are much better adventure/horror games out there.

The overwhelmingly positive reviews got me to buy this game and I expected something beautiful and complex. What I got was a rather humble thing. The graphics are horrible except for a few effects. The bulk of the game consists of a hub area from where you can access other levels by entering the scattered buildings. Some of the graphics look pretty good while other areas have really clunky graphics - the art direction is very inconsistent which is distracting.
