Critics called it “hugely charming crowd-pleaser”. It was the 1st major Hollywood film to focus on a gay teenage romance.

unlabelledView post →Today's movie recommendation is "Love, Simon". A movie mostly targeted at closeted high schoolers and their parents, this is a wholesome family-friendly movie about coming out, and how the closet can hurt people. An after-school special with some really good moments and minimal cringe. #Movies

unlabelledView post →I gay-teen-came-of-age in the era of Love, Simon, a film which did unfortunately gag me when they give him a “gay wardrobe” and it was all clothes I wore regularly
unlabelledView post →Love Simon always brings the waterworks. the entire film is great but that scene with Jennifer Garner about exhaling just hits 😭

White, attractive, well-off, intelligent, has own car, doting parents, & stellar friends. Rewatching, but acknowledging privilege! #filmsky 📽

unlabelledView post →It never occurred to me that the director of Love, Simon is the same guy who was one of the main architects of the ArrowVerse. Greg Berlanti really just around. So as a trade, this means Becky Albertalli (who wrote the book) should write the screenplay for the DCU Flash movie. Lol

unlabelledView post →Rewatching "Love, Simon". I know people don't like it now, or whatever. But this was the first queer movie I got to see in my hometown's multiplex like it was no big deal. With my bestie from grade school. Something I never thought would be possible There's also the amazing Natasha Rothwell

unlabelledView post →Love, Simon is a good movie (better book). And I'm not too afraid to say so. Yes his face looks weird on the poster but still. Sometimes you just need a cute gay YA story.
unlabelledView post →#AprilFilmChallenge #MovieSky (16) A film that makes you cry Love, Simon (2018) This scene, every time, it‘s simply beautiful.
unlabelledView post →Love Simon Stalenhag’s art, and for that reason have not seen the film, looks dreadful. The Amazon ‘Tales from the Loop’ show does a far superior job of capturing the feeling of his art, something a lot quieter and almost melancholic. Electric State seems to almost entirely miss the point.

unlabelledView post →How did this go ? Love Simon was a 📕 book. That became a movie and then was what revamped as Love Victor which I have no recall of… and in beating a dead horse fashion somehow spun off into whatever it was that just got canceled ? Might have the Simon book, not sure if still here or apartment
unlabelledView post →Oh, I was writing about "Love, Simon." The movie pretty much ended with the boys getting together, but in the novel ("Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda") so much more happened after that.
unlabelledView post →yall, i thought Love Simon was the film sequel to the Dear Evan Hansen play
unlabelledView post →What is one of your comfort movies? Love, Simon: Jace knows that if I'm watching this, I'm not necessarily in a great headspace. I just think its such a cute film. Though I do think Honor Among Thieves is slowly working its way into being a comfort movie for me.

unlabelledView post →I’d include “Love, Simon” on this list. Not because it’s a “great” film from a critical perspective, but because I thought it was the perfect blend of coming out film with John Hughes style teen film.
unlabelledView post →This past week has been a lil blah and with Valentine's Day coming up (yes I know it's "just a day" but still I want one 🤷🏽) I wanted to watch my "feel good" movie...Love, Simon. Someday I'll be able to say a movie I wrote touched ppl as much as this movie touched me. #scriptsky
unlabelledView post →Castration Movie to me is not any different than something like Richard Linklater’s Slacker. Are people yelling at him for the optics of Austin Texas or whatever no. But because your film has trans characters and themes suddenly it has to be Love Simon levels of dull
unlabelledView post →Another thing to add, although not from the same year as these, is that H cowrote a song for the film Love, Simon, which is about a closeted gay teenager Look at what stories H chooses to be involved in telling and see how they differ from the ones told ‘about’ him.

unlabelledView post →The most blatant queer example of 80s nostalgia / correction is Love, Simon which diverts from the novel because Greg Berlanti wanted to make the John Hughes film he didn't get to see. In a scene set in the future, Simon and his college dance to an iconic 80s song which... would they really though?

(You see where I’m going with this?) I’m not a BL purist but it’s interesting to see what gets the label and what doesn’t

unlabelledView post →this movie is queer but it’s … so boring lol I’m sorry Brokeback Mountain is always going to remain #1 for me with Love Simon coming (hah don’t) in 2nd. I don’t know why gay films just ….are so boring. Like Portrait of A Lady on Fire for all its yearning and sadness managed to keep my attention
