unlabelledView post →For examples of m/m romance written by men for men I'd suggest the Taiwanese film Your Name Engraved Herein and the kdrama Love in the Big City (recognizing of course that both have viewers who aren't gay men). It's interesting to see the differences between these stories and BLs. ###
unlabelledView post →I've been reading "Love in the Big City" and watching the tv series lately potentially for a seminar paper as I'm getting interested in queer media, especially film and television. It really lives up to the hype, I'm genuinely enjoying both!
unlabelledView post →I started reading Love in the Big City after watching the series (haven't seen the film yet), and it is really good, the series captured its desperate joy.
unlabelledView post →Finally seeing Love In The Big City film (2024) tomorrow, featuring the wonderful Kim Go-eun and Steve Noh. Here's a fun clip from the criminally underrated Behind Every Star series (2022) with the always excellent Kwak Sun-young getting ready for her date with the stunning Mr. Noh. #Kdrama

unlabelledView post →Bawled my eyes out at LOVE IN THE BIG CITY: a film that captures the joys and pitfalls of carefree youth with such remarkable sensitivity and tenderness, yet doesn’t shy away from some of the darker aspects of Korean culture. Made me want to rewatch a few of the earlier Hong films, for some reason.
unlabelledView post →Love in the Big City: the movie is beautiful to look at and Kim Goeun is LUMINOUS but it does very much feel like a film about queerness made for straight people IMO

unlabelledView post →Dumb question(s): Are there two "Love in the Big City" productions coming out at the same time? Is one a show and one a film? Are they both covering LGBTQ+ topics?
unlabelledView post →Introduce yourself with: one book: Love in the Big City by Sang Young Park one film: Makoto Shinkai "Your Name" (Japan, 2016) one album: Jason Isbell - Southeasten, 2013 one tv show: "Queer as Folk UK" 1999
unlabelledView post →I agree with the first two, which are great. I would add: - Way Back Love: mental health and grief - Light Shop: grief, healing, duality of life and death, human connection - Love in the Big City (kdrama, not movie): urban life, queer identity, LGBTQ+ rights, class dynamics, gender roles
unlabelledView post →I see you have Love in the Big City 3 series on there, but they did also do a big-screen film. youtu.be/BDzoEbSCGaE?...

unlabelledView post →Service gets a nod in the film Love in the Big City, but that's an adaptation from a literary coming of novel, which tend towards often being memoir-adjacent or otherwise favoring realism.
unlabelledView post →If there's anything I liked more in the movie compared to the series it's probably how women's struggles came out even more strong through the movie narration. Said that, I still think the series resonated more with me and I'll keep it my heart for a long time #LoveInTheBigCity #kMovie #kDrama #kBl
unlabelledView post →I watched Love in the Big City movie and I absolutely loved it. The movie is more about loving your best friend and trusting and relying on them but also budding heads throughout the friendship. The series is more about experiencing the joys and heartbreak of romantic love and growing from them.
unlabelledView post →Hopeful plan after appointment: - Watch Love in the Big City movie. - Play games for a couple hours. - Watch the last two episodes of Love in the Big City series. - Finish watching Semantic Error again (to make me feel good after LitBC because I've been crying the last few days).
unlabelledView post →Korea is still deeply conservative when it comes to LGBT+ issues. Their first mainstream BL hit, Semantic Error, came out just two years ago. And when the Love in the Big City film and drama came out there was a campaign against them by conservative Christians and the leads came in for online abuse.

unlabelledView post →"Love in the Big City", film (South Korea, 2024) Sorry to say I didn't love this as much as I did the series. Perhaps if I had seen it first? I envied the friendship between the two. The acting, production, everything was on point but the series really was better. #LoveInTheBigCity #BoysLoveFilm
