positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've never had a video game hit me as hard as Death Stranding 2, not even the ending of Like a Dragon Gaiden. I'm not entirely sure why this is, but I'd love to have the media analysis tools to understand and explain why. And despite it depicting tragedy at times, I find DS2 incredibly uplifting.
unlabelledView post →Ah yes, the man who never killed anyone is back (clearly shooting goons with a shotgun at a point blank range causes no harm). For being a spinoff this game has so much important lore that fans of the franchise shouldn't skip this one. It explains what happened between yakuza 6 and like a dragon, and even a bit more. Don't really have any complaints, it's a solid title from the beginning to the end. The story might be a little shorter (which is to be expected) but I still racked up 25 hours…

unlabelledView post →Pros - This game returns to Beat 'em up gameplay mechanics. - Even though this game is just a "gaiden" it has a lot of content and minigames. - the easiest yakuza series to collect all achievements cons - Kiryu's disguise is terrible and makes no sense
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →new byline! my latest for gamesradar+ --- I reviewed Like a Dragon: Gaiden The Man Who Erased His Name. while it's a return to form for Kiryu, and lots of fun, the game cheapens every send off for Kiryu by the merit of existing and RGG needs to let him go. www.gamesradar.com/like-a-drago...

Feels like a spin-off until it doesn't... - Story is freaking PEAK; - Gameplay is incredible (top 3 combat systems for me together with Yakuza 0 & K2); - Visuals are beautiful; - Kiryu is a badass; Probably the most emotional ending in the series if you played all the previous games! Must-play for all the Yakuza fans!!!

I loved it
unlabelledView post →it was alright. i liked the conclusion to the story, not a big fan of how the combat was handled but it was no Yakuza 3. that final fight was kino though. also, it was very short. should probably get this one on sale, boss.

unlabelledView post →Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name completely surprised me. This is actually my first Yakuza/Like a Dragon game, and I didn’t expect to get this attached to the story so quickly. There’s something about the way it blends drama, humour, and character moments that just pulled me in from the start. Kiryu’s journey hit harder than I expected, and even as someone new to the series, I never felt lost if anything, it made me want to dive into the entire franchise to see everything I’ve…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story made me cry, the gameplay made me fight, and the cabarets made me goon. Good game, only pick up on discount, dont regret the 100% would play again, agent funny gadget, dragon funny physics. 8/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Might start doing some of my playthrough updates here now since I'm planning to finally start being more active here Rn I'm playing through Like a Dragon Gaiden (in chapter 2) and the game is absolutely stunning
unlabelledView post →Gameplaywise it's the most coherent and straight to the point game in the series. Almost no filler, just meat and potatos. Story was so good that i cried at the end. Playing it after yakuza 7 makes the most sense. Don't even listen to people who might tell you to skip it. Same as yakuza 3 is not skippable. I'd say playing yakuza 3 adds A LOT to the experience, especially last scenes. Yakuza 0 also adds to the experience. I recommend playing those two before Gaiden. OFC same as y1 y2 y4 y5 y6…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A wonderful addition to the Yakuza franchise! Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name is the Yakuza 6.5, or rather 7.5, we all wished for; a game that concludes Kasuma Kiryu's story slightly better than Yakuza 6. Story and gameplay wise the title is on par with the best Yakuza, even if it smaller tham usual. If anything, I appreciated the care for the quality rather than quantity, expanding the lore without giving us more questions than answers. The new fighting stile is fun to try…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Listen to me. If you ever play Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, be sure to bring tissues for the ending of the game. I'm serious. People who ignored my advice have regretted doing so after seeing the ending.

unlabelledView post →As usual the best experience ever. I already forgot what it is to play and forget the flow of time because you actually enjoy a game instead of looking at the clock thinking you waste your time. The ending is phenomenal and made me cry like many many other players, all the yakuza games are peak but this one is the first one that made me have tears on my face. Takaya Kuroda knows his stuff and I'm grateful that he is the one voicing our dragon.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love me some japanese crime soap opera Turning Kiryu into Yakuza batman, I love that for him. Commitment to the bit of him not being Kiryu but then taking off the sun glasses and now hes Kiryu never stops being funny as hell. Classic Yakuza combat flaws and all, if that aint your thing its not any better here. If you hate it and want to enjoy the game just max out grapple tool and run around spamming it and youll win every fight with ease even on the hardest difficulty' The…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a guy who "erased his name" Kiryu sure gets spotted by half of Japan. Peak Kiryu aura For me, it lands solidly in the top 2 Yakuza games, right after 0. Honestly, this game hit me way harder than i expected. It's short , but that s exactly why it works, no dragging just clean focused story without the usual "40 hours of random ♥♥♥♥ before the plot moves again" vibe Side quests are straight up total cinema, full of references and fanservice to older games, even Judgment (wich i somehow…

unlabelledView post →It’s actually quite funny how this game labeled as a “Gaiden” - something that should be purely supplemental - ends up fulfilling its role of bridging Like a Dragon and The Song of Life so perfectly. Not only does "Gaiden" work exceptionally well as a side story by focusing heavily on the Coliseum battles, but it also complements the events of the main entries, especially Like a Dragon, in a surprisingly meaningful way. This installment also draws attention to something important: after so…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While it is definitely the shortest in the whole series, it is the most emotionally impactful of the lot. I ugly cried like Joryu.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Maybe a weird decision, but this was actually the first Yakuza title I played and finished. Sure, I might have missed a few references here and there, but even without prior knowledge, I had no issues following the story and had a great time with the game. Simply exploring Sotenbori was a ton of fun because it felt so alive and detailed. There is this in-game smartphone camera, and I took soo many pictures, I felt like some weeb tourist on their first trip to Japan, lol. Since I've never…

I did watch a summary of all the previous games though, so I knew parts of Kiryu's story up until this point. Playing through this game I found out I really like Kiryu as a protagonist. Ichiban and Yagami are very likeable in their own right, but Kiryu dominates a room like neither of them does. What I liked: * The story is short and succint. Even without deep knowledge, I easily understood what it…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you’ve enjoyed the previous entries in the series, this one definitely won’t disappoint you. It’s a great narrative bridge connecting parts 6 and 7, and I really appreciated how focused the story felt: no unnecessary filler or side plots slowing things down. The ending was especially satisfying. The final cutscenes were genuinely moving and will probably stay with me for a long time. My only small gripe was the hostess club segments. They were a bit too cringe. That particular minigame was…

unlabelledView post →Kiryu hasn't wanted to be in the series since Y3 and it shows here. He painfully does not want to be involved in this story so it's hard to stay invested. The "I've never met this Kiryu man, no you must have me confused" schtick is funny at first but loses its charm as the façade falls away over time. You can play most minigames and game modes in other Yakuza games. The drones are somewhat fun but you can get by without engaging with that system.
