Ladyhawke
Captain Etienne Navarre is a man on whose shoulders lies a cruel curse. Punished for loving each other, Navarre must become a wolf by night whilst his lover, Lady Isabeau, takes the form of a hawk by day. Together, with the thief Philippe Gaston, they must try to overthrow the corrupt Bishop and in doing so break the spell. From TMDB

unlabelledView post →#NowWatching Ladyhawke It's entertaining Not the tightest of choreography, the score is bizarre and feels like it doesn't fit the tone of the film - but the story is fine, the production values seem high, and the acting is solid #FilmSky 📽️

unlabelledView post →Just finished Ladyhawke (1985)! Kinda weird I never saw this in the 80’s, during my movie-obsessed childhood. Anyhow, I had a blast with it. Matthew Broderick is the lead, and he plays his character, a medieval thief, exactly like Ferris Bueller, there’s essentially no difference. But he’s funny!

unlabelledView post →#NowWatching LADYHAWKE (1985). Director: Richard Donner. Michelle Pfeiffer, Rutger Hauer. Need some medieval adventure? Some romance? Matthew Broderick cracking wise in least convincing period performance in history? Oh well, I usually tolerate Broderick to swoon for Pfeiffer & Hauer. #filmsky 📽
unlabelledView post →Watched Ladyhawke for the first time in years (in no small part because of @josephbrassey.bsky.social) and damn that movie holds up better than I’d expected. Also, holy damn the intro is the proto-form of every 80s anime series ever. Especially the music. You could overlay it on Macross w/o issue.
unlabelledView post →The pictured characters are from the movie “Ladyhawke”. They are lovers who are cursed: he is a wolf by night and she a hawk by day. In the movie, an eclipse plays a key role in breaking the curse. This movie features pretty sick sword fights and peak Michelle Pfeiffer.

unlabelledView post →My ★★★½ review of Ladyhawke boxd.it/a6c24d Medieval-lite romp featuring swordplay, vindictive curses, & Matthew Broderick's never-ending comedic monologue. Which will kill them first? Fun, cheesy, not very convincing period piece. But you could swim in blue of Hauer & Pfeiffer's eyes. #filmsky 📽

unlabelledView post →It's a BONUS week for SHELVED BY GENRE, so we're talking about 1985's extremely weird, rather imperfect, but very interesting romantic fantasy fable LADYHAWKE, featuring an out-of-place Matthew Broderick and one of the most dissonant soundtracks in film history: www.patreon.com/posts/shelve...
unlabelledView post →Ladyhawke is that rare movie where you actively want them to lose all the music rights so that somebody has to arrange a new score and soundtrack. 😂 The original music is dreadful. Completely wrong for the movie.

unlabelledView post →#LGBTQWriteAThon A literal title for my current WIP: A sapphic retelling of the 1985 cult fantasy film Ladyhawke with enough changes incorporated throughout to make it distinct from the source material because it's not public domain (also please don't sue me I'm poor and fragile)
unlabelledView post →13) Ladyhawke. If you're Gen X, you probably know this movie. A hot lady turns into a hawk during the day. A tough guy turns into a wolf at night. They're a couple. They make friends with Matthew Broderick and kill a guy in a church.
unlabelledView post →I would like to formally apologize to the makers of Ladyhawke. this movie slaps
unlabelledView post →Watching LadyHawke. I loved this movie as a kid. Well styled and the soundtrack takes me back. Apparently Matthew Broderick has made a career of being a smart ass.

unlabelledView post →I can strongly recommend Ladyhawke if you like fantasy, although I am biased because Michelle Pfeiffer is one of my all time favourite actresses.
unlabelledView post →Not the best week for my eyes but it was saved by @fatedmates.net reminding me that Ladyhawke exists. What a film. 🐺🦅❤️ #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched
unlabelledView post →I can name a good movie with a bad soundtrack. I tend not to pay attention to soundtracks unless they're a mess. Anyway that good movie/bad soundtrack is, of course, Ladyhawke
unlabelledView post →I snipped just this post and sent it to my partner, and I was like, "Guess which movie," and he said, "Ladyhawke."
unlabelledView post →A common critique of Ladyhawke is that it’s a great fantasy movie hindered by its Alan Parson’s Project score, and I could not disagree more because that score marks it as being of a specific pop culture point in time. It makes the movie unique and even more memorable.
unlabelledView post →#MovieMadness I don't know. I looked at lists of hated movies and I was all, "Yeah, these kinda suck." I'm gonna go with a movie that I loved (still love) that was panned outside the sci-fi/fantasy worlds. Ladyhawke (1985) The Andrew Powell soundtrack is🔥. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ODV...

unlabelledView post →Oh, I got a few: Wings of Honneamise is an anime from the 80s that I rarely see mentioned that has a special place in my heart. It's about the first space program in some foreign world, with conflict and war that captures the frontier spirit. Black Rain, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Michael Douglas and Andy Garcia, is not exactly some small indie movie but I never see it mentioned anywhere. I would describe it as a fish out of water story with two American cops going to Osaka. I love…

unlabelledView post →Such a great movie. The main guy is whiny and whatever but the supporting cast is so good and the story is really interesting! The guitar soundtrack is crazy. Like Ladyhawke but louder.
unlabelledView post →Making the discord watch Ladyhawke tonight, it's truly a film ok. But all the jump cuts to the castles with the 80's synth is taking me out it's so good. I just love dark fantasy, and the aesthetic of it and I don't know of any good modern films with it atm
unlabelledView post →I also think that some people are offput by how unabashedly earnest the score is in its emotions. It’s romantic and sweeping and evokes the sort of feelings the film wants you to feel. Ladyhawke does not want you distracted from those things, and the score helps keep you there.
unlabelledView post →Watching Ladyhawke (1985) It's been so long I don't really remember it. Oh my Michelle Pfeiffer's eyes.

unlabelledView post →OH!! I ALSO JUST SAW A POST THAT REMINDED ME LADYHAWKE EXISTS! So yeah, LADYHAWKE! The film that dares to ask: What if Ferris Bueller were a character in a Marie de France lai?
unlabelledView post →#nowwatching LADYHAWKE (1985) I somehow have never seen this one. The synth score is baller though. Pretty sure it is one of @handmadebygrey.bsky.social 's favorites. And no, it is not riffed. I figure one night without a dozen Rifftrax shorts is ok.

unlabelledView post →I love the movie Ladyhawke, but the soundtrack is annoyingly anachronistic to my brainmeats. I keep expecting Sonny and Cher to burst in for a song.
unlabelledView post →Hmmm, favorite? Hard call. Labyrinth, Legend, Willow, and Ladyhawke have to be on the list. But leaving out the Conan movies, Beastmaster, the Dark Crystal, and Krull seems wrong. And then there's the Never-ending Story and the Princess Bride, which have to be near the top, if not the top. But there's Baron Munchausen as well. Fuck. The Princess Bride is half comedy, so calling it a true *fantasy* movie may not be acceptable. But, it's the one I've watched the most out of all my…

unlabelledView post →I absolutely adore the film, but Ladyhawke has an awful soundtrack
unlabelledView post →SO DAMN EASY. LADYHAWKE. An amazing movie with a terrible Casio keyboard score.
unlabelledView post →Ladyhawke remains the best example of "great music + great movie distracts from both enough to make both worse because they do not go together" so I will say that even though it's not 100% on point.
