Lady Parts
Directed by Jared Campbell
Traci, a gallerist, is relentlessly pursued by a sadistic killer fixated on a painting that once graced her gallery's centerpiece. Following a home invasion, Traci's friends come to offer solace and protection. But as the bodies begin to pile up, Traci is thrust into a desperate search for the painting, knowing it’s the only chance to stop the killer’s relentless slaughter. From TMDB

She's already worked for the show, she's run her own show (We Are Lady Parts) and a feature film (Polite Society) and she's a fan. Hard to see anyone better on offer.

unlabelledView post →this movie is by the absolute genius who made We Are Lady Parts, an actually perfect television program.
unlabelledView post →You should get your paws on the movie "Polite Society"! It's a Bollywood/Kung-Fu/heist romp from the creator of the extraordinary "We Are Lady Parts". All the male characters combined have like eight lines. What more can you ask for?
unlabelledView post →Gonna watch a horror movie but I’ve promised myself that if it’s too upsetting, afterwards I can watch a We are Lady Parts episode as a sort of entertainment Valium?

Hacks, We Are Lady Parts are honorable mentions) and I feel I ended up with a pretty solid lineup. Movie list at some point!

unlabelledView post →Since I am always speaking of We Are Lady Parts, shout out to @tennawan.bsky.social for recommending Nida Manzoor's delightful film Polite Society. I always love a story that says "hoarding wealth makes you weird and untrustworthy" with its whole chest!
unlabelledView post →That's how I found out about Lady Parts - saw Polite Society [in the theater] and someone told me she also had this show. I love that movie.
unlabelledView post →WE ARE LADY PARTS on Peacock is an absolute delight, and the woo-woo comp lit multigenre academics (complimentary) who ran BUFFY + philosophy courses in my day should consider a quarter dedicated to TV/film female bands and patriarchy, including Lady Parts, Girls5Eva, and Josie and the Pussycats.
unlabelledView post →I think it was delayed because Nida Manzoor (the showrunner) did a movie (Polite Society) in the middle. The movie was good and really weird but not as good as We Are Lady Parts IMHO
unlabelledView post →Hey! If you liked the series "We Are Lady Parts", I strongly recommend you watch the movie "Polite Society", which is also written & directed by Nida Manzoor. Sisterhood! Martial arts! Thrills! Suspense! It is SO GOOD, y'all.

unlabelledView post →I recently watched We Are Lady Parts which I see folks have already mentioned, but also Film Club which is totally different but feels in the same not-genre. I know what you mean, the shows you list stand out. Ooh, The Bear also goes in that list.
unlabelledView post →This movie, which u saw in a whim based solely on I've trailer, led me to We Are Lady Parts, which is also wonderful. Reminding me it's time to rewatch both the movie and the show.
unlabelledView post →Such a good film! If you like it, check out the director's (short) TV show "We Are Lady Parts" for more.
unlabelledView post →We Are Lady Parts, a streaming series about a Muslim all-girl punk band, has a punk rock version of the theme song that is amazing! That movie was punk in the same way libraries are.
unlabelledView post →Probably the only show or film that's come anywhere close to true representation for me is We Are Lady Parts. The show's about an all female British Muslim punk rock group. A masterful slice of comedy / drama by Nida Manzoor. While I'm not Muslim (or religious), it's the sort of DIY, uncompromising
unlabelledView post →I just finished 3rd season of The Bear and watched S2 of We are Lady Parts before that. I am struggling with every show I try to watch now. I need recommendations for real TV not 2nd screen TV, not a movie blockbuster stretched into 6 episodes. Real TV.
unlabelledView post →The director also made a film called “Polite Society” that looks similar in tone. Though I confess I’ve only watched S1 of Lady Parts so far
unlabelledView post →Also, have you seen Polite Society? It's a feature film by Nida Manzoor (which is how I found my way to Lady Parts), and it is absolutely delightful.
unlabelledView post →Wonderful movie! Same director (NIDA Manzoor) as We are Lady Parts
unlabelledView post →Another of our 2023 favorites - so happy that it’s back already. Pandemic schedules got us used to 18-24 month breaks, which is really tough for 8-episode comedies. Don’t even get me started on the long wait for S2 of “We are Lady Parts” (I know the creator made a movie in the gap, but still).

unlabelledView post →Polite Society - Crazy debut film by the writer of the brilliant We Are Lady Parts. Not really sure how to describe it - a kind of fantasy action comedy. Really enjoyed it, it’s pretty silly but also has a touching element about the two sisters who are at the centre of the story.
