As a consumer, I should not have to go into the ini files and change resolutions, fps, and audio settings to get modernized settings and to avoid crashes. That is the whole purpose of a port is to integrate these things into the game, and provide hotfixes. We play as Mondo, a hitman equipped with a katana and a cybernetic gun arm who takes on missions from ghosts, aliens, Russians, and goddesses to kill crazy moon monsters. It feels like someone mixed anime, a fever dream, and a blender full of energy drinks. The combat is slick, the style goes insanely hard, and the story acts like it’s hiding government secrets from you personally. The only crash I had was in Koharu's mission, I just had to cap the fps to 30 and played the mission without any problem. The game is really good, I loved the art style and the gameplay.

The level design is varied and the art style still looks good. The PC port is unfortunately pretty bad and crashes regularly unless you change settings in the ini files. As it is, I can only recommend the PC version if you're willing to tinker around with files outside of the game. Hopefully the developer either releases a patch or full remaster in the future.

You need to do a laundry list of .ini file edits for the game to properly not crash, and even then you still are in a digital minefield of all sorts of audio, visual (especially lighting), and stability problems regardless. Despite doing nearly every fix available, I was just barely to eek out 3 missions (all of which had a very strange lighting problem), before hitting a wall of constant crashes.

Capped at 30fps, bugs and fairly frequent crashing(had to immediately skip a cutscene since it always crashed before ending). If you want to play a Grasshopper Manufacture title and an actual Suda51 game, play Killer7. The visuals and cel-shading style are pretty nice though.

Killer is Dead is especially notable for its visual style. It's beautiful. It's incredibly inspired. The story is an absolute roller coaster, as most Suda51 games. It's short, the combat feels good. You can probably pick this up for less than $5. Give it a shot.
