Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon
In a Kaiju-filled Japan, Kafka Hibino works in monster disposal. After reuniting with his childhood friend Mina Ashiro, a rising star in the anti-Kaiju Defense Force, he decides to pursue his abandoned dream of joining the Force, when he suddenly transforms into the powerful "Kaiju No. 8." An action-packed recap of the first season of Kaiju No. 8 and a new original episode, Hoshina's Day Off. From TMDB

I’m not sure what it would’ve taken for me to love this like I loved the OG when I watched it decades ago. I appreciated the better pace and less time wasting fluff and recaps. I bet I’d find the OG nigh unwatchable these days, anyway. I guess I was hoping for a more interesting contextual update considering modern times, but…

It wasn't in the seasonal list for summer, so nice catch * Reborn as a Vending Machine, Now I Wander the Dungeon S2 * My kind of brain rot. S1 was stupid funny. * My Dress Up Darling S2 * I almost watched S1. I might do so now to be ready for S2 unless sometime can recommend better. * The Summer Hikaru Died * Almost skipped based on title, but I love a good psychological thrill. * Grand Blue S2…

unlabelledView post →Just binged [season 1 of Attack on Titan](https://anilist.co/anime/16498/Shingeki-no-Kyojin). IMO it is overrated. 1. Besides the scenes where they are swinging around with their mobility devices, the animation is completely a slideshow. 2. There's way too much narration and exposition. 3. The scriptwriter / original writer tried to make the characters sound cool, but they just ended up with stupid dialogue. 4. The recaps are as long as the ones in [Undead…

Second season continues right along with no noticeable drop off. 4/5+ - **Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra** - I like the dark fantasy aspect and how the world/game aspects are based on a strategy game instead of the usual RPG. But, there is not much of a plot yet, the characters have not been that interesting, and the world building is slowing down. 3/5 for now. - **Call of the Night** - Another returning series that…

unlabelledView post →I wish Kaiju No. 8 was better. I just saw the "movie" that's a summary of the first season, and it really made me think how much time that series wastes building up Kafka's unique role in the squad as an underpowered guy who uses observation & experience, before he just goes full-time monster-mode.

Then season 2 started and it just became infinitely better for me. > Also, now that I watched AoT, [Kaiju No. 8](https://anilist.co/anime/153288/Kaijuu-8gou) feels like a dumbed-down knock-off. Yeah, it absolutely is.
unlabelledView post →Yeah, I shouldn't have picked the marvel movies. I don't think they are all necessarily simple and shallow, just that there is a certain recurring themes that one can spot. My point was just very obvious in Iron Man 2. Many Anime are made with kids as their target, so they may introduce a cool new theme but then tend to fall into repetitiveness. What I liked about early anime were the translater's notes. Fanmade translations with subtitles that included additional context, mostly on the top…

(Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra: World Conquest Starts with the Civilization of Ruin) I read one or two of the LNs, and I enjoyed it back then. The anime is starting pretty slowly.
