unlabelledView post →It’s a film that feels destined to join Speed Racer and John Carter in the list of blockbusters that flopped at the box office that people can post about on Reddit with “does anyone else think this movie deserved better?”

unlabelledView post →Andrew Stanton's John Carter was released 12 years ago today. A film neglected by Disney, which was about to buy Star Wars (while A Princess of Mars, the original novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, was a source of inspiration for George Lucas).
unlabelledView post →Name a movie that flopped at the box office but is actually great. #FilmSky JOHN CARTER (2012)
unlabelledView post →Dominic West is an incredible actor who has done some of the most acclaimed performances on TV and in film on the last 20 years. He is also the scene chomping villain of John Carter and I think that's what acting is all about
unlabelledView post →Red Planet is a better movie but its own kind of mess. Better Mars movies: Robinson Crusoe on Mars, The Martian, Quatermass and the Pit (though it's on Earth), John Carter
unlabelledView post →It's so funny that Avatar made billions and John Carter, a film that's essentially identical except no one's blue, is the biggest flop in Hollywood history
unlabelledView post →Listening to the Blank Check for John Carter and finding out that the old Facebook page for the movie is now defunct. But I distinctly remember a post from March 2012 for pre-release tickets that had this picture with the text JOIN WOOLA FOR MIDNIGHT ON MARS
unlabelledView post →Watching John Carter for Film Sack tomorrow. Know what kind of enjoying it so far.
unlabelledView post →Books to film 📚=🎞️ A Princess of Mars (1912) by Edgar Rice Burroughs was filmed as John Carter (2012). The protagonist is changed from a genteel soldier to a damaged veteran. Other changes include how Carter gets to Mars as the film discards the imperialist tone of the book. 🔴⚔️👽 #filmsky #booksky
unlabelledView post →I’ve gotten more requests to bring this post back from the internet graveyard than anything else. So here it is, for April Fool’s, my stupidest post: the time I called someone named John Carter in every state to see if they were going to see the movie JOHN CARTER
unlabelledView post →I am watching the movie John Carter and it is a MAGNIFICENT waste of special effects. The script is turgid and John Carter himself is a seriously dull person. So dull. So uninteresting. Quite dim. Why are heroes written like this? Lowest Common Denominator humans with no sense of humour.

unlabelledView post →I have to work today, but I’m going to take a break and go see a movie. I’m taking a break from writing an adventure with John Carter and Dejah Thoris and Red Sonja and Tarzan and Tars Tarkas to go see a Star War, with my tiny fierce adorable rebel leader wife. The world is on fire. I know. 1/2
unlabelledView post →Dropping "of Mars" was (IMO) one of the things that hurt it in terms of appeal/drawing people in. "John Carter" sounds like a generic action movie that you wait to watch until it's on streaming. "John Carter of Mars" at least adds that intrigue. "Wait WHY is this guy on Mars?"
unlabelledView post →A real sic transit gloria etc moment to contemplate how huge Barsoom still was 50 years ago, so huge the Burroughs estate sued TSR and buried this game, and how nowadays not even Disney could get people into a John Carter movie
unlabelledView post →make a movie better by adding John Carpenter's to title John Carpenter's John Carter
unlabelledView post →I haven't seen the new He-Man film, but reviews seem mostly positive. Is this another case of John Carter, where we get a surprisingly fun movie that nobody gives a shit about?
unlabelledView post →BADLANDS is basically a sword and planet adventure movie that just so happens to star a Predator in the John Carter role and it's fun. It doesn't need to be the original because we already got the original.

unlabelledView post →Today's movie recommendation is the under-rated "John Carter". This 2012 movie was the most undeserving box office bomb in modern times. It should have been the start of a franchise. Great world-building, compelling story, it deserved better than it got. #Movies
unlabelledView post →JOHN CARTER is an absolute banger of a film that should have been a much bigger hit.
unlabelledView post →Why use multiple framing devices for the opening? Why saddle John Carter with gloomy charmless characterization? Why start the movie with complicated alien politics that actually figure little in the original story? Why choose that generic looking art style?Gah!!!!
unlabelledView post →Since there's some conspiracies that Disney screwed up John Carter on purpose because they were getting Star Wars, maybe they have been screwing up Star Wars because they want to do a sequel or Reboot to John Carter
unlabelledView post →When EX-PATRIOTS came out in 2011, someone asked me if the character of John Carter Freedom had been named as a product placement tie-in to the upcoming Disney film. (he was not)
unlabelledView post →All the same “themes” AVATAR touches on — with cringey simplicity — are right there in Edgar Rice Burroughs. But he’s a “genius” so we had to get John Carter, Warlord of Ferngully, Who Dances With Dragons. Or whales. Depending on the movie.

unlabelledView post →The JOHN CARTER movie is an excellent space opera swashbuckler that was sunk by TERRIBLE marketing and audience perception that it's a Star Wars knock-off (other way around).

unlabelledView post →I don’t think anyone has made a worse title for a movie than John Carter. Your average moviegoer is gonna think that’s their neighbor getting a movie, not a movie based on one of the most foundational piece of sci-fi ever
unlabelledView post →"I don't care what anyone says I like that movie"🎥 My choice Disney's John Carter
unlabelledView post →I vividly remember being outside the multiplex and seeing a pair of teen girls looking at the film titles on offer: “John Carter? I think thats about a president”. They did not choose that film.
unlabelledView post →I watched John Carter Man of Mars again and I still think it rules??? Maybe a bit long but so chock full of cool shit. Underrated movie.
unlabelledView post →Yes yes nobody remembered who the fuck John Carter was when JOHN CARTER came out, but let me suggest its a mistake to open your movie with like 2 prologues. Or a prologue *and* a framing device.
unlabelledView post →I think John Carter (2012) is a good and fun movie that would have been a more fun direction than the MCU Charybdis that has swallowed us all
unlabelledView post →Disney actually tried to make a "Barsoom" movie. It was called John Carter of Mars. However, the "Barsoom" setting is so violent and luridly sexual (Edgar Rice Burroughs was kind of a freak) that it didn't really go anywhere. The Disney Barsoom Cinematic Universe ended up being a flop.
unlabelledView post →Name a movie that’s wayyyy better than people say. Mine: John Carter (of Mars)
unlabelledView post →it would be fitting for elon to take big budget movie advice from John Carter
unlabelledView post →John Carter is bad!! It's very bad! It's not even the best flop sci-fi movie starring Taylor Kitsch of that year!
unlabelledView post →My current go-to ‘what should I watch?’ movies are Pride & Prejudice, LotR (series), The Hobbit (series), Barbie, John Carter, MirrorMask, EEAAO, The Shining, Scream (1-3), The Exorcist, any Miyazaki film, The Fall, Summer Wars, Bedknobs & Broomsticks, Shrek, DOA: Dead or Alive: The Movie, & Wicked.
unlabelledView post →Don't sit, P catches himself & doesn't, John Carter grabs the hat. After the film segment finished & lights came on, John says, Man, you almost squished my Dad's hat.
unlabelledView post →Watching John Carter for the first time having not really appreciated previously that it was an Andrew Stanton film and man, yeah, even in the first half hour you can see some of the basic Pixar DNA that both makes this better than a lot of modern crap but also just *is not quite working*
unlabelledView post →The idea that action fans won't go to a movie with a female lead is ridiculous. Pam Greir, Michelle Yeoh, Angelina Jolie, Sigourney Weaver, Jane Fonda, Margot Robbie and a host of other women have headlined successful action movies. Also, there have been plenty of action movies starring men that have cratered on opening day. "John Carter of Mars" springs to mind. I haven't seen Supergirl yet. Maybe I'll like it, maybe not.
unlabelledView post →JOHN CARTER with JACK BERNHARDT. Which one’s the title of the film? I’ll never tell! Lovely hearing old Jackson on the Smersh Pod at last!
unlabelledView post →people hated John Carter and that movie was rad who cares what ppl like 🙃
unlabelledView post →Yeah, it's interesting how Tarzan remained... if not popular then certainly recognisable over the generations. Meanwhile, I don't think the average member of the public in 2012 knew a single thing about John Carter (even after watching the trailers for the film, probably! The marketing was a mess)
unlabelledView post →John Carter is a great adventure movie. Very fun and amazing visuals.
unlabelledView post →I thought it was a generic action movie about an assassin when I saw the title. My dad (who has some of the original books) encouraged me to look up the trailer and explained it was a movie set on Mars. Even calling it "John Carter of Mars" would've generated interest. Also, PLUSH TOYS.
