unlabelledView post →I'm glad "I'm Still Here" won an Oscar last year and helped expose the horrors of Brazil's dictatorship... ...but I hope people don't skip "Secret Agent". I think it's a deeper & more expressive movie, that has more to say to the average person — even if it's more demanding for non-Brazilians.
unlabelledView post →This is absolutely harrowing to watch. If you've seen the Brazilian film I'm Still Here, it's exactly that: armed men from an unnamed agency coming to a couple's door to take the man away, with no charges, no due process, no response to the wife's pleading questions. Completely unconscionable.
unlabelledView post →I'm glad to see the movie "I'm Still Here" In the running for Oscars in several categories. A movie about the ruinous effects of political persecution under a dictatorship hits too close the bone in today's America.
unlabelledView post →Four Favorites with I'm Still Here director Walter Salles 🇧🇷 I'm Still Here is nominated for Best International Feature Film, Best Actress (Fernanda Torres) and Best Picture at the 97th Academy Awards.
unlabelledView post →YES! YES! YES! “I'm Still Here” won the Academy Award for best international feature! It's a phenomenal movie! Parabéns, Brasil! #oscars
unlabelledView post →It's somewhat heartening that for a non-English-language film, I'm Still Here is doing really good U.S. business. It's now grossed more than $5 million, which is two times what Nickel Boys has taken in, and more than Anatomy of a Fall last year.
unlabelledView post →Fernanda Torres is incredible in I'M STILL HERE, which is expanding in the US tomorrow. My review via @ebertvoices.bsky.social.
unlabelledView post →Feeling immense relief that I'M STILL HERE, a wonderful film about surviving a dictatorship, beat out Emilia Pérez for Best International Feature Film. Go see it! #oscars
unlabelledView post →This is a great interview with the the wonderful Marcelo Rubens Paiva, author of the book I'm Still Here that became the Oscar-nominated film. deadline.com/2025/02/marc...
unlabelledView post →Fernanda Torres + International + Best Picture noms for I'M STILL HERE is really wonderful. I gave the film a perfect score for my @ebertvoices.bsky.social review.
unlabelledView post →If you can, do watch the movie "I'm Still Here", which is really about that period in Brazil.
unlabelledView post →Essentially nothing happens, and the film has almost no political content. It made me weep and I will see it again, ten stars. I wrote about I'm Still Here: www.northsouthnotes.org/p/im-still-h...
unlabelledView post →Treasure Planet is an underrated Disney film... Also the song "I'm Still Here" as well...

unlabelledView post →For a great movie that makes you worry even more about where the country could be headed, you can't beat I'M STILL HERE. (The Brazilian one that's nominated for Best Picture, not the one where Joaquin Phoenix raps.)
unlabelledView post →I want all of my non-brazillian followers to understand that I'm Still Here is so much more than a movie. It's brazillian history preserved. It's the story of a country that was so wounded by a long military dictatorship.
unlabelledView post →Catching up with Walter Salles' I'm Still Here (Ainda Estou Aqui), which features one of the cutest movie pups of 2024.
unlabelledView post →we have an movie called I'M STILL HERE and a Dylan movie called A COMPLETE UNKNOWN when the last big Dylan movie was I'M NOT THERE (2007) none of this accounts for YOU WERE NEVER REALLY HERE (2017), which isn't relevant but goes so fucking hard we just ... things need better titles

unlabelledView post →#TavQOTD #BG3QOTD #BG3 #BG3OC Sorry to be lame, but Treasure Planet is a Disney movie, so Bo's song has always been, "I'm Still Here".

unlabelledView post →All I have to say to the nicer Americans is: watch Brazilian movie "I'm Still Here" before you're living inside it.
unlabelledView post →Anybody else get confused by the film title I'M STILL HERE and always think it's the Bob Dylan movie because of I'M NOT THERE? Just me? Ok.

unlabelledView post →The movie "I'm Still Here" is now on Netflix. It puts you right in front of what the families of a person "disappeared" by a tyranny go through.
unlabelledView post →#NowWatching: “I'm Still Here” (2024) Dir: Walter Salles
unlabelledView post →Movie recommendation: I'M STILL HERE.
unlabelledView post →I also loved "The Secret Agent," the second remarkable film in recent years set in '70s Brazil about the resilience of the oppressed in an era of dictatorship. "I'm Still Here" won an Oscar, "Secret Agent" got shut out, but with "Sinners," it's the 2025 film I cherish the most. (2/2)
unlabelledView post →Actually, what was that Bob Dylan movie, I'm Still Here? Do it like that. Every scene is a different embarrassing moment in his life played by a different actor. Get Geoffrey from GOT back into acting so he can play young Elon getting thrown down a flight of stairs for being an asshole.
unlabelledView post →Continuing the momentum of great Brazilian cinema in the wake of THE SECRET AGENT and I'M STILL HERE, Gabriel Mascaro's magical aquatic road movie, THE BLUE TRAIL, opens in NY and LA Friday ahead of its nationwide release. A trip worth taking. www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...

unlabelledView post →It probably speaks to my middling taste, but I thought I'm Still Here was a materially more impressive and meaningful film than The Secret Agent. It is stolid political drama that hits you directly with intimate family suffering, and the toll that hopeful perseverance takes.
unlabelledView post →I don't mind a more serious movie when I fly (for example I saw I'm Still Here on my flight to Portland last summer) but School of Rock was on my most recent flight to KC and it was perfect for the length of the flight
unlabelledView post →I really recommend the movie "Ainda Estou Aqui"/"I'm Still Here" for like. A good look into just a part of what happened to targeted families from the perspective of someone who survived and was not disappeared. It's a real story, I met the author of the book it was based on
unlabelledView post →when it comes to being into reimob call me oscar winning 2024 brazilian film the way that I'm Still Here
unlabelledView post →Brazilians were hoping to see The Secret Agent being rewarded with an Oscar, but they weren't able to spot the problems in this movie and the fact it seems bizarre to foreigners, who lack the historical context and the small references. I'm Still Here deserved much more.
unlabelledView post →the struggle between record collector Star Wars and film buff I'm Still Here
unlabelledView post →I'm Still Here is just so good. I can't find the music video using the movie footage but just ugh so good.
unlabelledView post →I still cry at the big scenes. It's just such a powerful movie and I'm Still Here hits
unlabelledView post →More people need to watch documentaries about Latin American dictatorships in the late 20th c. They serve as a guidebook. Or, for fun, watch the recent film, I'm Still Here - good examination of habeas corpus being thwarted by an authoritarian regime
unlabelledView post →Easily the grossest movie of @fantasiafestival.com 2026 - if not 2026 entirely - BOWELS OF HELL is a shit-filled horror comedy that is, thankfully, not shitty. And it's from the Oscar-nominated producer of I'M STILL HERE (not shitting you)! Screens this Friday, July 31st! Enjoy my write up!
unlabelledView post →I have so much love for this movie, I used to perform "I'm Still Here" at open mic nights in college 🖤
unlabelledView post →Yeah... either it's a bit for a documentary film project like I'm Still Here or there's something. But right now, odd.
unlabelledView post →Great movie. Love that Sondheim re-wrote I'm Still Here for MacLaine.
unlabelledView post →Just watched I'm Still Here. A very sobering film that's one big emotional gutpunch.
unlabelledView post →True. Almost every time a movie is nominated for "best picture" & "best international/foreign film", it wins the latter Oscar. The only exceptions are from the last two years (Emilia Pérez, The Secret Agent), & both lost to other films nominated for both awards (I'm Still Here, Sentimental Value).
