Hollow Man
Cocky researcher Sebastian Caine is working on a project to make living creatures invisible. Determined to achieve the ultimate breakthrough, Caine pushes his team to move to the next phase — using himself as the subject. The test is a success, but when the process can't be reversed and Caine seems doomed to future without flesh, he starts to turn increasingly dangerous. From TMDB

Wells was adapted to film in 1933 with many sequels & remakes/spinoffs such as Invisible Woman, Hollow Man & the 2022 Invisible Man. In the book Griffin is a megalomaniac bent on power whereas in the films he's insane. 👓👣👤 #filmsky #booksky

unlabelledView post →I 100% stole part of that from the trailer for 2000's Hollow Man, btw. "It's amazing what you can do when you don't have to look at yourself in the mirror anymore."
unlabelledView post →Rewatched Hollow Man. It's a pretty mid film, outside of the very impressive visual effects there isn't too much to love. The fact the weird tech bro uses his tech to be nothing more than a weird little creep is pretty accurate tbf but he's not that interesting of a villain.

unlabelledView post →I don't remember. But do remember being in a press screening full of people audibly enjoying Showgirls, who then went away & rubbished it in print. I pretty much loved every Verhoeven film up until Hollow Man IIRC - huge disappointment - & most of them I love even more now than I did back then.

Plus that really good Invisible Man movie with Elisabeth Moss. All focusing on those concealed inner evils. #SpaceApeCinema
unlabelledView post →#ACenturyOfCinema continues, 2000: Verhoven's HOLLOW MAN asks what would happen if a maniacally egotistical scientist (Kevin Bacon) became invisible. Misogynistic voyeurism & murder ensues. Great cast, good fx & an exciting finale in an elevator shaft. DTV sequels on my watchlist! #filmsky #scifi

unlabelledView post →I forgot to mention that the film is written by Gary Scott Thompson. His curious career has seen him write the first Fast & Furious film (I assume he continues to bank a healthy cheque for creating the characters), several of Jim Belushi K9 sequels, and the story for Hollow Man.

unlabelledView post →That was the one really interesting bit from the Kevin Bacon invisible man film, Hollow Man. It was basically a throwaway line, but he mentioned trying to sleep when he his eyelids are invisible.

unlabelledView post →Wait... Joe Eszterhaus can get $4 million to write a non-woke(?) Basic Instinct remake but Paul Verhoeven can't get the money for YOUNG SINNER, an erotic thriller set in Washington DC that he wants to make and would be his first/final American movie since Hollow Man? Forget IP. Make original movies.
unlabelledView post →did you ever watch that HOLLOW MAN movie???? that shit was so bad, i feel like if someone ever suggests you watch that, it's like your job to immediately refuse and put on the original INVISIBLE MAN from 1933, a good movie
unlabelledView post →Was Hollow Man a good movie? Technically & conventionally I am inclined to agree with “no”, but I love it unreservedly & unironically. Is Elisabeth Shue awesome & PERFECTLY styled in it? Yes! Am I dying inside a little from misspelling “Hollow” before? Absolutely yes
unlabelledView post →A really solid genre film with SFX that remain pretty tremendous tbh, quite casually integrated into the whole, but Hollow Man lacks that extra layer a Verhoeven project usually revels in. Bacon's slide into insanity is uneven and not really explored.

unlabelledView post →Hollow Man isn’t a sci-fi movie because Kevin Bacon turns invisible. Hollow Man is a sci-fi movie because the year is 2000 and Kevin Bacon is having an HD video call over the internet on a clunky Nokia monitor with no webcam in sight. I’m six degrees away from losing my mind

unlabelledView post →📽️ Hollow Man 2 I expected a bad movie but this is actually a top notch low budget sequel. Think Halloween 4 to Halloween. Lean runtime and a decent plot that has a few surprises. Completely disconnected from the first film and stands on its own just fine #filmsky #film #moviesky #horror #halloween

unlabelledView post →We got free preview tickets to see Hollow Man and about half way through we looked at each other and agreed to take off. First time I ever walked out of a film, it was that bad.
unlabelledView post →I see this film as a better, flipped version of “Hollow Man”. Elisabeth Shue’s character is the final girl of that film, but Kevin Bacon’s invisible man is the protagonist. In this film, Elisabeth Moss’ tortured victim is the final girl and the protagonist. I think it works better.
