Good Luck to You, Leo Grande
Nancy Stokes, a retired schoolteacher, is pretty sure she has never had good sex. Now that her husband has died, she is determined to take a tour of sexual vistas that until now she has only imagined. She even has a plan; it involves an anonymous hotel room, and a sex worker who calls himself Leo Grande. From TMDB

Me estuvo agradando bastante hasta que decidió romper con sus propias reglas para salirse, de forma forzada (y un poco innecesaria), del sólido tiesto que estaba construyendo. Sin entrar a juzgar el fondo, la recomiendo igualmente.

unlabelledView post →I <3 Emma Thompson. Brilliant in 'Good Luck To You, Leo Grande' and 'Sense and Sensibility' but - and I'm willing to fight you here - 'Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang' with Maggie Gyllenhaal is her most enjoyable movie. I fucking love that film. I cried like a baby.
unlabelledView post →I made the DEEP mistake of watching “Good Luck To You, Leo Grande” last night. Very triggering as a former sex worker, and also as a woman of an advanced age. Neither of those topics were handled well at ALL. But I’m seeing “Longlegs” at midnight to cleanse my cinematic palate. 👍
unlabelledView post →Watch Good Luck to You, Leo Grande! Emma Thompson is incredible as a widow seeking pleasure and confidence. This film is a candid, beautiful look at self-discovery, intimacy, and accepting your body at any age. It’s truly empowering. Go see it! ✨💖 m.imdb.com/title/tt1335...

unlabelledView post →I watched Good Luck To You, Leo Grande last night. What a fantastic film. Emma Thompson’s honest portrayal of a nervous and inexperienced woman seeking a sex worker to fulfil the experiences she’s never had is brilliant, while Daryl McCormack is great in a role that’s perhaps just as difficult…
unlabelledView post →It was very clear to me after Good Luck to You, Leo Grande that Daryl McCormack should be the next James Bond but I guess my brain is just operating on a higher frequency than the hoi polloi.

But in my head, Good Luck to You, Leo Grande is the sequel to this, showing Kate's mistake in giving such a prick a second chance.

unlabelledView post →obvs there are ways to get at these issues in a thoughtful way but this movie just does not do that at all. made me think of Good Luck to You Leo Grande which is so much more deep on these issues and shows Emma Thompson's very naturally aged body to wildly different ends.
unlabelledView post →I am yet to find a movie that explores the unfulfilled sexual desires of women over 40. This tried but didn't quite manage it, and 'Good Luck to You, Leo Grande' was brilliant but obviously not a sexy movie. There's such an opportunity to do something great with that genre but this was way off.

unlabelledView post →Good Luck to You, Leo Grande; directed by Sophie Hyde; starring Emma Thompson and Daryl McCormack; written by Katy Brand Feeling she has missed out on life, a retired widow hires a young sex worker to expand her horizons. Interesting discourse on sex from a woman’s perspective with an amazing Emma Thompson that goes all the way with the part. A bit too wordy and theatrical in its trappings however. Streaming/Rating: C+ #GoodLuckToYouLeoGrande #MovieReview #Movies

unlabelledView post →There was the same issue with Good Luck to You, Leo Grande (2022). The racial angle was a bit.... They could have just as easily cast a young white male. (It was a good movie. Emma Thompson was a horrible client but they're British so 🤷♀️)

The ONLY good thing to have been a result of the COVID pandemic and lockdown was that women now aren't ashamed to wear grey hair. Good Luck to You, Leo Grande is a wonderful classic for instance!
