Some viewers found the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot enjoyable and funny. [1][2][3] Others criticized it as unfunny, childish, and a disappointment. [4][5][6][7] A few reviewers considered it average, with decent performances but a weak plot. [8][9]

As a male nerd who grew up in the 1980's watching both original movies and the cartoon, running around with my toy proton pack and catching imaginary ghosts in my basement, I should be of the demographic complaining about how this ruins my childhood or that a cast of all women is just a stunt in the name of political correctness, or whatever their issue is. But the truth is, I REALLY enjoyed this movie. The four …

I was determined to see this movie on opening day. Female cast, Paul Feig (a Michiganian who included a Michigan line in the film), a couple fistfuls of ridiculousity on social media. When the movie started, I was one-eyeing the screen. Waiting for it. Oh oh. Fart joke. Oh oh. Kristen Wiig still can't make her eyes look interested. Then Charles Dance shows up with his serious comic tongue stuck in his cheek to …

This movie was a huge disappointment! The only positive thing I can say about it is that the special effects where not half bad. The movie itself was childish, unfunny, unintelligent and generally really bad. Some reviews giving this movie 9 or 10 stars (which is just ludicrous) are saying that people cannot handle the feminism in the movie. What feminism? Replacing the original actors with women is not feminism as …

I didn't watch this for quite a while because I heard so many bad things about it. "What do they know?" I thought to myself. I figured Ghostbusters had already had a bad sequel I sort of enjoyed, a bad remake should be sort of enjoyable too. Besides, you just know that so many of the complaints were exclusively because the cast had been of the dreaded ~~fEmaLe VeRsiOn~~ variety. But I just watched it, and... Oh man …

A few years ago the internet told me the all lady cast reboot of Ghostbusters was terrible. The internet lied to me. This movie is perfect! A good blend of nostalgia (easter eggs & cameos) and comedy. It doesnt take itself too seriously and the actors did a good job. I feel good after watching!

Critics, per Wikipedia
Ghostbusters grossed $128.3 million in North America and $100.8 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $229 million, against a net production budget of $144 million. Because of the large amount spent on marketing, the studio stated the film would need to gross at least $300 million to break even. Before the release, director Paul Feig said: "A movie like this has to at least get to like $500 million worldwide, and that's probably low". The Hollywood Reporter estimated the film's financial losses would be over $70 million. A representative of Sony found this loss estimate to be "way off": "With multiple revenue streams ... the bottom line, even before co-financing, is not even…

positive · AI labelView post →I often think about how the main non-occult antagonist of the first Ghostbusters movie was a guy who worked at the Environmental Protection Agency, & it was just taken as read that we'd all boo a guy who was a threat to freedom loving Americans' god given right to store nuclear waste in Manhattan
neutral · AI labelView post →"Back off, man. I'm a scientist." Ghostbusters was released #OTD in 1984. What a film: one of the greatest teams ever assembled in a movie😀, Sigourney Weaver looking hot as hell, Slimer being brilliant, Rick Moranis, and the iconic Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Absolute classic ❤️ #Filmsky #Moviesky 📽️

positive · AI labelView post →The Ghostbusters franchise being destroyed by shallow nostalgia is oddly meta given that the climax of the first movie features an embodiment of shallow nostalgia trying to destroy the Ghostbusters.

neutral · AI labelView post →I have spotted a plot hole in Ghostbusters (1984). The song clearly states they aren't afraid of no ghosts and at several points in the film, the ghostbusters are clearly afraid of the ghosts. I'm not sure how this slipped through.

neutral · AI labelView post →Ghostbusters is actually an anti-Trump movie, it's about three Columbia professors fired for their beliefs.

neutral · AI labelView post →I LOVE Ghostbusters, and I think it’s a brilliant film, but this is absolutely correct. The villain is an evil EPA Agent, you *should* want guys with proton packs to be regulated, and Afterlife even tosses in some unnecessary, pro-Reagan nonsense.

Dan Ackroyd basically stole the name for the film, so Filmation did an animated reboot of their project. This is why the Ghostbusters cartoon is called The REAL Ghostbusters.
neutral · AI labelView post →Watched Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire while editing. It... sure was a movie.
