Fringe
Created by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, J.J. Abrams
FBI Special Agent Olivia Dunham, brilliant but formerly institutionalized scientist Walter Bishop and his scheming, reluctant son Peter uncover a deadly mystery involving a series of unbelievable events and realize they may be a part of a larger, more disturbing pattern that blurs the line between science fiction and technology. Critics, per Wikipedia
Early reception through the first season was generally lukewarm, with many noting its "lackluster" start and the "dullness" of the characters. However, changes in the approach and storytelling of the show in the second and subsequent seasons led to more positive critical reception and made it a media favorite. As a whole, the series was well received by the critics and has developed a cult following. The pilot episode was watched by 9.13 million viewers, garnering 3.2/9 Nielsen ratings among adults 18–49, with ratings improving over the course of the episode. Ratings improved greatly for the second episode, "The Same Old Story" which 13.27 million people watched, making it the fifth most…

neutral · AI labelView post →Today I did my fortieth show at the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe. I have fifty-eight shows in total. On the 20th I will be in single figures. It's been a lovely fringe but I have barely stopped this year AND had two fortnight-long chest infections. So I'm ready for a GLORIOUS ten days off when this ends.

neutral · AI labelView post →Thinking about how I refused to watch Fringe during it's original run because I didn't trust Fox not to cancel a sci-fi show before the story was done.
negative · AI labelView post →Rewatching Fringe and thinking again about what annoyed the shit out of me about this show is that the show I was promised in s1 was not the show we actually got. The show we got was still interesting. But not the same show as s1. I appreciate how far Anna Torv as come as an actress tho.

Abrams and Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci, and starring Anna Torv, Joshua Jackson, John Noble, and Jasika Nicole. Put simply: I’d forgotten how brilliant this series is. It’s a masterpiece.

neutral · AI labelView post →Gotten to that last season of Fringe. The show always had its ups and downs but in a series that could be absolutely ridiculous, Season 5 is a voyage into "bless your heart." You can't really hate it, though. The ending wasn't bad. But the whole Observer storyline, oh lordy.
