Friday the 13th: A New Beginning
Homicidal maniac Jason returns from the grave to cause more bloody mayhem. Young Tommy may have escaped from Crystal Lake, but he’s still haunted by the gruesome events that happened there. When gory murders start happening at the secluded halfway house for troubled teens where he now lives, it seems like his nightmarish nemesis, Jason, is back for more sadistic slaughters. From TMDB

60 of 176 · most liked first(Pre-amble, I don’t think the meme should be taken seriously and I do find it funny) Horror is my favourite genre because it genuinely seeks to express the most primal and furious of all emotions: fear. From the goriest, straight-forward splatter fest to the subtlest discomforts of tense artsy horror films, the popular and cult favourite movies offer a fantastic reflection of that generation/culture’s deepest vulnerabilities. Slashers like Friday the 13th were about the internalized…

Ton of slasher and horror movies, though 3 fuuuuuucked me up. Friday the 13th - Jason, Child's Play - Chucky, and the most impactful being Nightmare on Elm Street - Freddy Krueger. At a 6 year old sleepover, the host father rented Nightmare on elm Street for a bunch of us little dudes. Half way through the movie, i got up and dressed out of my pajamas and walked…

It Follows, is a bit longer than it needs to be but a good concept for a horror movie. Jason Bourne, aka the weakest Bourne (movie).

neutral · AI labelView post →watching Halloween 4 last night, this isn't something I'd normally notice, but Michael Myers was teleporting like Jason Voorhees. I can't explain why it bothered me there when it doesn't in a Friday the 13th movie. My only theory is I must be subconsciously holding Halloween to a higher standard 🤷♀️

John Carpenter still reigns supreme and it's not really Halloween Week without some Corman-Price flicks either, damn it. Happy last week of Halloween!

These slasher movies drifted quickly into nonsense, but the first still works. 4 out of 5 film-authority.com/2026/10/20/f...

That played a part in the other installments moving forward even when New Line took over.

neutral · AI labelView post →When SCREAM came out, HALLOWEEN was 18 years old. FRIDAY the 13th was 16. The 2026 equivalent would be a film that satirizes, deconstructs, but also *is* a type of film we started getting too many of around 2010. In other words: The time is ripe for a SCREAM-like take on superhero movies.

neutral · AI labelView post →It wasn’t a movie per se. I thought it was when I was a kid, though. It’s an episode of “Friday the 13th: The Series” called “The Executioner”. I was like maybe 6 or 7 at the time. It starts with this guy in prison you see them take him to the electric chair and attempt to execute him. They botch it and the warden or whoever pretty much goes “oops, well by law we did technically carry out your sentence so you’re a free man now” He then goes on to become a dentist and uses a “cursed…
neutral · AI labelView post →They get no respect at the Oscar level. IMDB users clearly have a ton of respect for them. > A score of 6 and 7 is actually pretty good There's a pretty wide flavor profile to horror, from the thriller/gross-out/sexplotation end of the spectrum to the dramady/mockumentary/parody end. And some movies are really a product of their era. Movies like Scream and A Cabin in the Woods are fine on their own. But they're written like love letters to horror movie fans from the generation prior.…

positive · AI labelView post →Inspired by @lizzyisi.bsky.social to post this year's October spooky movie list and reviews. Last year was lots of folk horror and 70s and 60s vibes. Prior 2 years were the GenX classics: Halloween, Friday the 13th, Elm Street. This year I went back to my roots, campy horror comedies.

As a HUGE #FRIDAYTHE13th fan who has been so since seeing the very first and BEST one in 1980 at age 12 I can say that #LINDACARDELINNI is too SMALL to play the younger Mrs. Vorhees who was a much taller and STOUT woman in the movie.
