Frankenweenie
When a car hits young Victor's pet dog Sparky, Victor decides to bring him back to life the only way he knows how. But when the bolt-necked "monster" wreaks havoc and terror in the hearts of Victor's neighbors, he has to convince them that Sparky's still the good, loyal friend he was. From TMDB

unlabelledView post →Rewatching FRANKENWEENIE. This movie is gorgeous. So many visual Easter eggs to old horror movies and animators flexing as hard as they can. Just a beautiful flick.
unlabelledView post →Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie (2012) is a gorgeously animated spooky lil underrated gem of a movie.

unlabelledView post →Happy #LetterboxdFriday! My #lastfourwatched are all influenced by the fact that my 5 year old picks everything now. Frankenweenie was cute and surprisingly violent, Speed 2 is fascinatingly bad, and Spider-Man 3 deserves a second look. fuck that dogs purpose movie though, ontologically evil flick
unlabelledView post →Genuinely wondering when Tim Burton is gonna do another stop motion film. We're 13 years out from the last one (Frankenweenie) and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice had probably some of the best stop motion I've seen from him. Would love to see what he could do with that style of stop motion

Fun and Fancy Free (full film not just mickey and the beanstalk) 3. Teachers Pet (the movie) 4. James and the Giant Peach 5. Frankenweenie(story is eh but looks great)
unlabelledView post →Frankenweenie (1984) another Burton short that stands taller than most of his features. The fact Tim never made another movie with Duvall or Stern is a CRIME because they are both AMAZING in this 30 minuter. If you've only seen the stop motion version this is the rare superior live action take

unlabelledView post →Burton was pretty active all over the film, he just didn’t share a directing credit (like Lucas on Star Wars 2 & 3). I suspect he later regretted that, as he was then credited as director on Corpse Bride & Frankenweenie.

unlabelledView post →Frankenweenie (2012) 10/10 🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕 I adore this movie! It's a loving tribute to old horror movies. Instead of Victor bringing back the dead out of hubris, he is a young boy who can't come to terms with his dog's death, a very relateable idea as that's the way many of us first encounter death.

I also intend to place two Frankenstein movies together, so it's cool how today turned out. Ari loved this movie! #filmsky #horrorsky

unlabelledView post →Watched Frankenweenie and the kids had a lot of “why is this like this” questions—the black and white, the old monster movie references—and it’s a great example of how a particular time-bound shared cultural experience can jump, fractured, forward in time.

unlabelledView post →Shelley Duvall would be enshrined in the hallowed halls of genre film history if only for Wendy Torrance, but she's a warm presence in Frankenweenie, a fun player in the Time Bandits ensemble, and is arguably the greatest comic-to-life casting ever in Popeye. RIP. An eternal icon.

unlabelledView post →Yeah it's cool they tried to put in some practical fx but Burton's stuff is still coming off so...rushed & checklisty now. And I'd kill to see natural lighting in a Burton movie again. I'd be happy to be wrong, but I haven't felt the "THIS is why I love Burton's work" vibes since Frankenweenie.

unlabelledView post →can interrogate this way, and often the whole is the sum of its parts. To my eye, Frankenweenie fails to cohere in basically any of its fundamental components. I think this makes it a flat-out bad movie. Let's start with something mostly superficial: the choice to be shot in monochrome.

Nightmare before Christmas? Hotel Transylvania? Haunted Mansion (2003)? Frankenweenie? Coraline? Hocus Pocus?
unlabelledView post →I'm not sure if you've seen it yet, but I'd like to suggest Corpse Bride. I like it a bit more than The Nightmare Before Christmas. Both are great. I loved the 90s Hocus Pocus movie too as a kid. I haven't seen Frankenweenie, but it's another Tim Burton film.

Blaming Thrall for Garrosh's actions is like blaming the professor for saying it COULD be used badly, not blaming the person using it for bad instead of good.
