Flubber
Professor Phillip Brainard, an absent minded professor, works with his assistant Weebo, trying to create a substance that's a new source of energy and that will save Medfield College where his sweetheart Sara is the president. He has missed his wedding twice, and on the afternoon of his third wedding, Professor Brainard creates flubber, which allows objects to fly through the air. From TMDB

I assume the theater saw an animated movie and immediately thought "movie for kids." Anime was not a thing yet. I doubt the 70 year old owner had the internet.

This time, it focuses on the new gravity-busting substance called by Prof. Brainard as "Flubbergas."

unlabelledView post →Thinking about how in the 1997 movie Flubber they sold the formula and rights for Flubber to the Ford Motor Company. Ford holds multiple contracts with the US military. In their timeline Flubber was probably jiggling it’s fat ass around in Iraq dancing and killing Al-Qaeda members.
