FernGully: The Last Rainforest
When a sprite named Crysta shrinks a human boy, Zak, down to her size, he vows to help the magical fairy folk stop a greedy logging company from destroying their home: the pristine rainforest known as FernGully. Zak and his new friends fight to defend FernGully from lumberjacks — and the vengeful spirit they accidentally unleash after chopping down a magic tree. From TMDB

neutral · AI labelView post →Making the man watch Ferngully for the first time, seminal film for me
positive · AI labelView post →What do you think of Batty Koda from the FernGully series?. He was an interesting character with antenna back in the first movie and a memorable voice actor.
neutral · AI labelView post →Ferngully Live Action movie, Timothée Chalamet is Zak, Sidney Sweeney is Krysta, Zachary Levi is Batty Koda, and, of course, Chris Pratt is Hexxus.
neutral · AI labelView post →For me, it was Hexxus in "Ferngully, the last Rainforest". Both him and Robin Williams gave amazing performances for an animated movie for kids. To this day, whenever I stumble or trip and fall, I still catch myself saying "Gravity works", or when I touch something disgusting, I'll end up singing "Slime beneath me, ooh, slime up above!"
positive · AI labelView post →Hexxus #TimCurry Movie: FernGully: The Last Rainforest Year: 1992 Tim Curry has been praised for voicing the villainous Hexxus in this full-length animated feature released by 20th Century Fox. Also in the voice cast were Robin Williams and Christian Slater. #Ferngully
neutral · AI labelView post →FernGully: The Last Rainforest (1992) is probably the best environmentalism propaganda-as-film ever made
positive · AI labelView post →Rewatched FernGully with mates and why was that film so fucking horny for a 'save the rainforests' vibes
neutral · AI labelView post →After growing up in a conservative home, Rocky Horror was my queer gateway drug. Clue was and forever will be my can't go wrong comfort movie. Ferngully was one of earliest movies i can recall. Plus countless other movie cartoons and games that I grew up that Tim totally made. RIP Tim Curry
neutral · AI labelView post →A reminder that Ferngully counts as a Tim Curry movie
neutral · AI labelView post →FernGully (1992) was a pretty mediocre movie but my first encounter with Tim Curry was him absolutely chewing up this musical number. He never took a line off, always brought incredible theatrical energy to every project. A master of camp and humor!
neutral · AI labelView post →Okay okay y’all Name a film that’s a green flag to love Mine is FernGully: The Last Rainforest
positive · AI labelView post →"char are you seriously saying that FernGully: the Last Rainforest is your favorite movie?" look. much like with our love for Christian ska band Five Iron Frenzy, we simply must admit that those few things we have carried from childhood until today are special to us.
positive · AI labelView post →As someone who hasn't watched *FernGully* (but should), I'm increasingly skeptical of these types of "plagiarism" comparisons between movies. Lindsay Ellis recently broke down [the "Aladdin was stolen" narrative](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44chgavSaKA) and compellingly showed "it's complicated", and more obviously, YMS five years ago [fucking eviscerated](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5B1mIfQuo4) the then-popular argument that *The Lion King* was a ripoff of *Kimba the White Lion*.…

neutral · AI labelView post →The movie I think of when you say Tim Curry is FERNGULLY
neutral · AI labelView post →I had no idea Tim Curry did the voice of Hexxus in FernGully and now I'm sad all over again. Watched that movie as a child more than any other. No idea how I didn't know.
positive · AI labelView post →James Cameron was the producer of Dark Fate, and did the writing. He didn't direct, but it was still his movie. And his Avatar movies are just Ferngully, which is just Dances With Wolves, which are all retellings of Lawrence of Arabia. I don't know why they're so successful when Avatar is nowhere near as good as Lawrence of Arabia.
neutral · AI labelView post →Ferngully: The Last Rainforest (1992) I dunno, a lot of quotes from this film feel especially relevant these days and I really struggle to get through this movie without crying.
positive · AI labelView post →Ferngully. The soundtrack for this movie slapped too.
positive · AI labelView post →I do this with the Avatar movies, but it’s: - *Avatar* “Ferngully” - *Avatar: The Way of Water* “Ferngully” - *Avatar: Fire and Ash* “Ferngully” I have a friend who does something similar; it goes: - *Avatar* “Dances with Wolves” - *Avatar: The Way of Water* “Dances with Wolves” - *Avatar: Fire and Ash* “Dances with Wolves”
neutral · AI labelView post →>Ferngully 2!? WHY??? Just wait for the live action remake! They're coming for your generation's childhood next... Signed, An old fart (NGL, *Masters of the Universe* looks like it could be pretty dope)
neutral · AI labelView post →I watched Ferngully for the first time again in likw 20 years maybe. Movie still holds up exactly like I remember and now I can't stop singing like Tim Curry mmmm Poison slime, toxic slug mmm that's what I love mmmm. Tim Curry is the mutha fuckin man!
positive · AI labelView post →It's the full version of Hexxus' song from Ferngully. It's actually a bit chopped up in the movie.
neutral · AI labelView post →FernGully is a frustrating movie, not because the film is bad but because its warning was ignored
positive · AI labelView post →Things i was afraid of as a child: 1. Pollution monster from Ferngully (screw that film) 2. Slime (Thanks ghostbusters 2) 3. Spiders (sort of) 4. Death 5. Other murkey/slimey/goopy things
negative · AI labelView post →Well good night Skynet. I haven't heard much mention of Tim Curry's role in Ferngully: The Last Rainforest, which I think is a bit underappreciated anyway. In a movie that also features prime 1990s Robin Williams, Tim Curry still ends up stealing the show. He will be sorely missed.
positive · AI labelView post →I rewatched Ferngully zooted out of my gourd a couple years ago and just kept rambling to Greg about how it’s the most important movie ever made because it’s not only environmentally impactful but also big gay skeleton
positive · AI labelView post →God how do I talk about a man who defined my childhood in the 90s. Home Alone 2, FernGully, IT, The Three Musketeers, The Shadow, The Wild Thornberries. Hell, Rocky Horror Picture Show was my first R-rated film that my dad allowed me to watch frequently. Tim Curry was THE bad guy you wanted to see.
neutral · AI labelView post →FernGully doesn't get talked about enough and Tim Curry absolutely SLAYED in that movie. This is still one of my favorite tracks: youtu.be/pVzYS3Ga_j8?...
positive · AI labelView post →I needed something to help save my miserable Friday night. So, I watched FernGully. I swear it's been 30 years since I've seen that film. I honestly think I haven't since it came out EXACTLY 33 YEARS AGO (yesterday). Yeah, I can't believe I haven't seen it since I was 11. I love batty so much.
positive · AI labelView post →I rewatch FernGully every couple years, and yes, it's worth revisiting just on its highs still, what a weird movie also love how the Pizza Hut tie-in promo came with literal packets of seeds
positive · AI labelView post →OMG the secret of NIMH. I love that movie. But my kid self was definitely traumatized when my school showed that movie in the same week as Bambi, Ferngully, The Land Before Time, and the Brave Little Toaster. Whomever was in charge of movies at my school broke our little brains.
neutral · AI labelView post →* - fair point, he had a stroke at the time before composing his musings. And he's been in hundreds of productions (the list is pretty considerable, at back of the book). BUT. FernGully WAS his first voiceover work in a movie and he said he took shit for doing that work. And our family LOVED Hexxus.
positive · AI labelView post →Ironically I think FernGully is the better film 😄 but Vincent Price is an excellent villain
positive · AI labelView post →leave ferngully the fuck alone, film ghouls. Ferngully was a labor of love by a handful of incredibly talented people willing to tell the mouse himself to fuck right off when Disney repeatedly tried to interfere in production. No fucking way does an AMAZON produced remake honor any of that.
positive · AI labelView post →If there was ever a movie that didn’t need this, it’s Ferngully. I adore this film.
positive · AI labelView post →It's movie night! I got FrenGully: The Last Rainforest. It's one of my favorite all time animated films. I'm so happy to get a Blu-ray copy of this masterpiece & I'm enjoying the extra features. The story is very meaningful. I highly recommend this film to anyone that hasn't seen it. 🌳 🧚♀️ #FernGully
positive · AI labelView post →Since I do like bats in general, there is one bat that I love since I watched Ferngully The Last Rainforest, and that is Batty Koda. He is a very funny and likable bat from this movie voiced by Robin Williams, who remains my favorite Ferngully character to this day. #battykoda #ferngully
positive · AI labelView post →In either my first or second grade class, we watched the movie “FernGully: The Last Rainforest” and the villain of that was terrifying to 7 or 8 year old me 😆
neutral · AI labelView post →Botanic Gardens will host an appropriately plant-based outdoor cinema event on Sunday as part of the Belfast Film Festival. As well as celebrating the 40th anniversary of Little Shop Of Horrors, FernGully will be screened on the day.
neutral · AI labelView post →This is kind of only unpopular because you might be the first person to ever compare the two movies lol There's way better comparisons to make: Avatar, Ferngully, Dances With Wolves, etc. Those movies all directly address capitalism/colonialism with every step of the plot. Capitalism is just a metaphor in Alien. For the record, I really liked both films.
neutral · AI labelView post →The Lego Movie, FernGully and Owls of Ga'Hoole would like to disagree. Even then, there are *a lot* of projects in Australian media that the wider world doesn't really know about because they don't get wider releases.
neutral · AI labelView post →Also, the first Avatar film (blue aliens, not Airbender) is essentially Ferngully in Space. I know nothing about the sequels. And TIL that Robin Williams voiced the bat character from the comments.
neutral · AI labelView post →And Tone Loc! Ferngully is an epic film. Should be shown in all schools.
positive · AI labelView post →Ooof a friend reminded me that Tim Curry voiced Hexxus in Ferngully. That movie was formative as a kid. Toxic Love still gives me chills…just look at this!! RIP legend youtu.be/4VOsfbaddsM?...
positive · AI labelView post →It is listed in the alt text on the image but it is FernGully (1992). Full title of the movie if you're searching for it is FernGully: The Last Rainforest
neutral · AI labelView post →I had to show @shadssnep.bsky.social this clip from Ferngully a while back as she has never seen the film and we were talking about Tim Curry and I mentioned it. She had… very confused emotions over it. 😅😂
neutral · AI labelView post →He’s the reason I told someone he made me think FernGully was a horror film for so long.
neutral · AI labelView post →My introduction to the guy was through Ferngully. Say what you will about that film, he fucking kills in it.
positive · AI labelView post →#TimCurry voiced Hexus in #FernGully, which probably did more than any other childhood film to teach me about empathy and how different evils can intersect. What a gift to leave us with.
positive · AI labelView post →I can’t…. I just can’t. First Dolly, now my favorite actor ever. It was Clue, I was maybe 8. “I buttle sir” still 34 years later makes me laugh hysterically. Ferngully, Home Alone, so many cartoons, Rocky Horror. He was the consummate bad guy and he made it look so fun. www.tmz.com/2026/08/26/t...
neutral · AI labelView post →I know I made fun of this already but I'm genuinely stuck on who the fuck was asking for a live-action Ferngully remake I know some people grew up with it but the only cultural impact I know it made was it was the film Robin Williams voiced alongside Aladdin and FERNGULLY was the passion project
neutral · AI labelView post →That's the version I'm reading, but I figured I'd leave the intros until after is read the book. I mean the Avatar film is also a lot like Ferngully, among other things, so it's clearly a kind of story shape.
neutral · AI labelView post →You know how some kids have The Film that they will watch non-stop from breakfast til bedtime if you let them? For my little sister, Ferngully was The Film 🤣
positive · AI labelView post →Film #312: Ferngully: The Last Rainforest The environmental message is not especially successful since apparently fairies will fix everything. And yet, the animation is pretty damn beautiful so it's got something to recommend. Also, Tim Curry as Sexy Pollution Phantasm. #2025Films

neutral · AI labelView post →Honourable mention to Ferngully because that movie still upsets and terrifies me. Mostly because people were screaming that we were killing the planet when I was born and we are still killing the planet today. Hexxus would be proud.
