Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Raoul Duke and his attorney Dr. Gonzo drive a red convertible across the Mojave desert to Las Vegas with a suitcase full of drugs to cover a motorcycle race. As their consumption of drugs increases at an alarming rate, the stoned duo trash their hotel room and fear legal repercussions. Duke begins to drive back to L.A., but after an odd run-in with a cop, he returns to Sin City and continues his wild drug binge. From TMDB

Take for example ["The revolt of the cockroach people"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Revolt_of_the_Cockroach_People), which was written at the same times as "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", but after "The Kentucky Derby Is Decadent and Depraved", which I would argue was Thompson's first "full" attempt at Gonzo. So with "The revolt of…

Thompson (as quoted in the movie "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas): > There was madness in any direction, at any hour. You could strike sparks anywhere. There was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning. And that, I think, was the handle - that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of Old and Evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn’t need that. Our energy would simply…

Real adrenochrome is synthesizable oxidized adrenaline and isn't special. OG fictional adrenochrome had to be squeezed from a fresh gland and got you high AF.
unlabelledView post →that's good, because I felt nothing of the mood of the novel. I did (wrongly) feel the same way when the fallout tv show didn't start with "war. war never changes". There's something that's so profoundly disappointing in the adaptation of a work that begins with an incredible line that instantly sets the mood of the work, and maybe an entire genre. With Neuromancer, you HAD TO show , not just your hand, but your entire arm in showing that your creative team can make "The sky above the port…
