And there are some beautiful shots (not enough to carry 3.5 hrs..) But in story and style, it's eight films. And politically, it's like Atlas Shrugged and Exodus had a baby.

Due to social media and the war on terror, large segments of Americans who don't view themselves as racist associate Arabs as victims in Gaza to American bombs. Not a bunch of atavistic savages from the desert.

UK columnists remain undefeated
unlabelledView post →You ever think about how fucked it is that Mel Gibson, an infamous bigot, made a hit movie w/ an entire cast of unknown indigenous actors but other directors still go full Ridley Scott like "Noo if I don't cast a B-List white Australian guy as Pharoah in the Exodus story, nobody will watch ittt"

In 1960, director Otto Preminger and actor-producer Kirk Douglas gave blacklisted writer Dalton Trumbo screen credit for Exodus and Spartacus. These films became massive commercial successes and the fear driving the blacklist evaporated. /end

unlabelledView post →One of Hollywood's roles is to brainwash people... The movie Exodus (1960), starring Paul Newman, was made to influence how millions in the West think about Israel. Paul Newman did however realise the evils of Zionism soon after…..

unlabelledView post →Exodus: The Film Used To Brainwash The West Authored by Leon Uris, operationally shaped by Israeli state actors such as Teddy Kollek and Moshe Perlman, endorsed by David Ben-Gurion, and cinematically laundered by Otto Preminger into a moral fable that taught the West to confuse

unlabelledView post →so I might misremember this because I'm only one coffee in, but Ridley Scott in an interview when Exodus came out said "If I cast Muhammad so-and-so as the Pharaoh, I can't finance my movie" or something to that affect

unlabelledView post →33/ But all of that interferes with the glow you feel after watching the movie "Exodus". It doesn't fit the fantasy. If the State of Israel is tarnished, maybe there is no center of Jewish identity, of Jewish authenticity. It's not like they're going to look at Torah for those things.
unlabelledView post →That's the thing I try telling pro-Israel people. Biden's brain was stuck in the old liberal Zionist vision from the film Exodus. He believes a moral obligation to support Israel (and it could be somewhat admirable, but for, ya know). But Trump doesn't give a fuck and is surrounded by anti-semites

Movie wise...who knows. Exodus and/or Apocalypse would be a better choice for mutant supremacist villain.
unlabelledView post →27/ The movie Exodus gave them the fantasy that in Israel there were sexy, muscular Jews kicking ass and building a new nation, claiming a Jewish authenticity that the people having the fantasy seriously doubted about themselves. The same way that white leftists wanted to emulate Black Panthers.

unlabelledView post →25/ The core assumptions of the Israel-right-or-wrongniks were designed to persuade US Jews in the 1960s to join them. Yes, they have been updated since then, but if you watch the movie Exodus today, you're going to see most of the contemporary assumptions already there.

unlabelledView post →I just saw the movie from 1960 called Exodus. With Eva Marie Saint. It’s 3 1/2 hours long history of the formation of Israel in 1948. Newman was great and the whole cast was pretty great and it was very tragic. They went into some detail about Auschwitz and the Holocaust.
unlabelledView post →Few film composers were ever more influential than Ernest Gold (born on this date in 1921). Just during the 1960s, he wrote film scores for: Inherit the Wind; Exodus (winning an Oscar & a Grammy); Judgement at Nuremburg; It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World; and Ship of Fools. Gold passed in 1999.
