Dungeon Siege III
Developer Obsidian Entertainment
Dungeon Siege III is an action role-playing game developed by Obsidian Entertainment. It was published by Square Enix for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows in June 2011. It is the third full and fifth overall release in the Dungeon Siege series of video games and the first since Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony in 2006. The game is set in the pseudo-medieval kingdom of Ehb, 150 years after the events of… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

(4/10) The core issue is that the game strips away the depth expected from an RPG. The gameplay quickly devolves into a repetitive grind that feels stuck in the past; the combat lacks the tactical weight I look for, and the progression system feels uninspired. While the story is serviceable, it never managed to pull me…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is absolutey the worst sequel to what was an amazing game series. Don't be fooled by the developers history of making great sequels (KOTOR 2, Neverwinter Knights 2, Fall Out New Vegas). This must have been made by the D team entirely comprised of 16 year old highschoolers doing their first work experience class. Even if you ignore the fact this is nothing like Dungeon Siege 1&2, just as a regular RPG it is a horrible game, the controls are bad, combat is even worse and who knows wtf the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Remember the fun times you had playing DS I and II? Yeah, this is not either of those two games. Not even close.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →1st mistake: you made a sequel focussed on Consoles. 2nd mistake: you made a bad sequel focussed on Consoles. 3rd mistake: you made a bad PC port of a bad sequel focussed on Consoles. + ok(ish) graphics + choice system with different stroy progression, which also influences the relationship with your companions - pre defined Skills instead of a full fledged Skill Tree - no Synergies between the Skills - pathetic AoE Skills - no Attribute Points - no Resistances - bad Itemization - no Set…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The real title should be "Contractual Obligation" or maybe "Gauntlet RPG". A very average, not entirely incompetent game. For something bearing the "Dungeon Siege" name, the gameplay is surprisingly not hack'n'slash-y enough. For something being created by Obsidian, the writing is surprisingly bad (published in 2011, I assume everybody competent was working on ALPHA PROTOCOL instead). To be bought ONLY during deep sale and played with NO expectations whatsoever.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a very VERY basic action RPG with none of the charm of the previous 2 games in the series and none of the mechanics that made those games interesting. One of Obsidian's worst games, I'd love to know what the hell happened.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Should you play Dungeon Siege III if you have other options? No. Could you make worse choices for your time playing games than playing it? Absolutely. I would only recommend it to anyone in the context of serving as some curiosity, like seeing a renowned chef try to make a dish using only safety scissors as a utensil. I didn’t feel like my time was wasted with the game in that way, as it was at least interesting in a melancholic way to see what a studio I greatly enjoy the works of like…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →just play the first 2 this ones trash
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dungeon Siege 3 is a hack and slash Action RPG. I have to say I didn't enjoy it as much as Dungeon Siege 1 and 2. Unfortunately, Obsidian changed a lot of things about the Dungeon Siege formula that made it fun to play. The game seemed dumbed-down compared to the previous titles in the series, and certain mechanics were removed altogether. The graphics were noticeably improved, but the environments were not as interesting or expansive. Maybe Obsidian was aiming for a different audience…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dungeon Siege 3, a departure from its predecessors, marks a disappointing turn for the beloved action RPG franchise developed by Obsidian Entertainment. Despite the anticipation surrounding its release, Dungeon Siege 3 falls short in multiple areas, leaving long-time fans and newcomers alike feeling unsatisfied and underwhelmed. Watered-Down Gameplay Mechanics: 2/5 One of the most glaring issues with Dungeon Siege 3 is the noticeable simplification of gameplay mechanics. The once dynamic and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My sister and I are playing through this together online (she's in Japan; I'm in the US), and we're having a lot of fun with it. In 2025 it still looks very solid graphically and, while I see there are a lot of folks who aren't happy with its departure from DS 1&2 gameplay-wise, we didn't play those...so it wasn't a factor for us. It plays a lot like Dark Alliance 1 & 2, but with a bit more story -- which is EXACTLY what we were looking for in a game (we played Dark Alliance 2 to completion…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First thing first: Local multiplayer Action RPG on PC. This gets bonus points from me by default. Reviews are harsh but seem mostly centered around the fact the game isn't faithful to it's predecessors. I can totally understand that but having not played those (yet), this isn't a criteria for me. Actually having a lot of fun playing this on the couch by the fire with the kiddies. Fun dynamic combat, interesting skill tree and build progression, diversity of characters to swap to on the go.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →an unfairly hated, beautifully crafted masterpiece
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't understand the hate for this game. It's a basic no nonsense couch experience. Run about and do quests. If it's cheap you can enjoy the old charm and stop comparing it to other things. It's like the dark alliance games. Works great with the xbox controller. Get it cheap and try it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good story game like dragon age and mass effect with all the consequence even side quest, highly recommend. -If you not see the price just buy Dungeon Siege Collection on steam, Yes is include Dungeon Siege III.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hidden gem? Really fun game buried under negativity from series hardcore fans and poor keyboard and mouse controls. Gamepad is a MUST for anyone who want to have satisfying gameplay with intuitive controls.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I cannot, in good conscience recommend this game. I don't hate the game and I am not an OG fan of the franchise either. This game was actually the introduction, to the Dungeon Siege franchise to me over a decade ago. Since then, I tried 1 and found it unplayable, with all the visual bugs and glitches, that the steam version had. The 2nd game was playable, but I sort of lost interest. Strangely enough, this is the first Dungeon Siege game I finished. Probably because of how "streamlined" it is.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's really a very repetitive, tedious game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used to play this game on PlayStation 3 I am so glad to see that it runs so well on modern PCs running Windows 11 even! Full controller support at least for my X360 controller which is an off brand Power A controller. I really wish they would bring some of the PS3 classics like the Resistance Fall of Man series to PC as well those were some of my favorite shooters ever.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a disappointing turn in the gameplay from the previous versions.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was clearly meant for Console, where the previous two were clearly meant for PC. Pick a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lane. If I knew they were dumbing the game down to a stub for the console gamers who can't finish a game without someone holding their hand, I would never have bought.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unique combat, it's really cheap these days, and the characters are different enough it's fun to beat it with different ones. I'm running through again with the rifle chick (I forget her name) and it's totally different than the first time I ran the wizard guy. I think he was easier, but as you level up she gets crazy cool.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A meh game 5/10 To be played with a controller. But hey, I could finish it. I like finishing the games I started, it too me 9 years, but eventually I got there. On my third attempt, in the first two, I only played for 30 minutes and didn't use a controller. Just don't overthink things and try to move as fast as you can to avoid getting bored as the game suffers from bad pacing due to very bad level design.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you have been waiting for a great sequel of Dungeon Siege 2, then don't. A game is a dissapointment almost in every aspect. + Graphics + Good story and story impact based on your decisions. - Everything else...... No skill tree. No attribute points. Bad controls. Camera.... Forget it. Nothing good there. It is just a bad console port and worse game. I've been expecting a lot from DS3, since Dungeon Siege 2 after all this years still is enjoyable and playable as hell. But, unfortunately....…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Half of your attention can be put towards playing the game; but at all times, the other half must be focused on fighting the camera angle. (You control both the camera and the player, simultaneously.) I've tried the game 3 or 4 times. Never been past the opening sequence. Imagine if in Doom Eternal, when you turned, the camera didn't turn with you.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its a change from the other dungeon siege games in terms of gameplay and your rail roaded into playing 4 characters with set archetypes I don't recommend
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Square Enix ruined the franchise and killed Dungeon Siege. I can't even force myself through this garbage for nostalgia's sake.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Xbox 1 controller works perfectly well, even if it says otherwise. A ton of fun. Don't listen to the haters who think it's bad cause it's different from the other two.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First impression - hard pass. OMG the controls and camera suck so hard that it really takes away from the game. Occasionally the camera will insta 180 when you get too close to something. Very disorienting. What in the hell were they thinking with the inventory screen?!? Some tutorial messages happen - as you are being attacked. Obviously kind of difficult to read while your trying not to die. On my first level up I chose a skill that I can not even figure out how to use. I'm assuming it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i bought the bundle. 1 was rough, 2 was great, and i was really looking forward to playing 3 after 2 but 3 is so bad. if they would have just left the controls like DS2, it probably would be good but they made the interface for children and the controls are so stupid. i hate this f**king game only after 30 minutes of trying to play it. waste of money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Weakest instalment of the series. It somehow took a simplistic (but fun) dungeon crawl and dumbed it down so far that even the console and mobile players must have been scratching their heads wondering where the content was. Dungeon crawlers aren't supposed to be real deep storey wise, but this version was ridiculous. The guts of a Dungeon Crawler style game is have fast paced action and interesting styles of combat expressed through multiple ways to build a character. In this game they have…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is NOTHING like the older games of the same name. TBH this should have had an absolutely different title. They tried something new and while it's not bad as something new, it's NOT a Dungeon Siege game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I was 12 I dropped it after 4h and it was great decision. Don't listen to anybody whose recommending this crap, it's not worth your time even if u got it for free.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is far from perfect, certainly in comparison to Dungeon Siege's previous titles. In comparison to the earlier titles in the Dungeon Siege series, it feels like a diluted version, with many gameplay mechanics having been overly simplified or even cut altogether. This includes significant changes to both the combat system and inventory management, which may disappoint some fans. One glaring issue is the somewhat clunky controls, leading to instances where your character can become…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game dropped over 10 years ago, and for its time, it was a dang banger. Y'all see a ton of negative reviews from people complaining it’s "too different" or "dated," but honestly? Ignore the haters! If you take it for what it is—a fun, punchy ARPG with great combat and cool environments—it’s a total blast. It’s got that classic 2011 charm that just hits different. Definitely worth a play for some old-school dungeon-crawling fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not as bad as some of these reviews make it sound. The auto-combat of ds1, or the Diablo-like combat of ds2 are gone. This plays like one of the Lego or LOTR 3rd person games. If you look past the combat, and the new rpg skill system, with attributes coming almost entirely from your equipment/weapon choice, it is still very much a dungeon siege game. This game is good, but not great. It was definitely made by people who had played dungeon siege and "got" the overall setting/style of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have tried to play this game on 4 separate occasions and every time I feel like there's just so much better games to play and end up playing those instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4/10 The story feels more immersive when compared to other games of its kind (path of exile, gw2, etc.) but mechanically speaking this must be the cheapest ARPG I have ever played. Literally trash. The controls are clunky and unintuitive and the gear system is pretty much useless since you can't really decide what kind of build you want to make. All the other features are either lacking or completely missing. I always thought people were complaining for nothing when comparing this to the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DS1 + DS2 - oh god yes DS3 - what the ♥♥♥♥
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Perfect example of shallow, insipid game design. MOBA-like predefined characters with gear that only makes numbers go up.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Somewhere along the way, this game lost what made the first 2 so great, and became a pretty clunky, if at times enjoyable RPG. The combat feels stiff/unresponsive, the characters you can choose from are decent (but it's a shame you play some pre-made characters with pre-defined classes and skills and items). It's the most story focused of the 3 entries in the series, but the story is still not very memorable (it has some nice throwbacks to the original games, there are some choices to be made).…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still a terrible game and doesn't deserve the Dungeon Siege name. Don't play it. (Also killed the franchise....)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a good game that delivers a satisfying action-RPG experience. What really hooked me was the story. They did a great job weaving an interactive narrative about rebuilding the 10th Legion against a tyrannical foe, complete with meaningful choices that impact alliances and endings. The characters are memorable. That said, there are some annoying things that hold it back from greatness. The controls, especially on PC with keyboard and mouse, feel clunky and console-ported—movement is awkward,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Why bother? The dialogue and voice acting is cringe and the fighting isn't even fun. The game is so mediocre and cookie cutter it's hard to even write a review other than just play a different game. Oh, I guess the graphics are okay. The inventory system is even stupid.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have never played DS1 or DS2 so my review is based on this game as a standalone title. I really enjoyed this aRPG and it played great on the steamdeck. If anyone is looking for a simple aRPG in the likes of the old school Dark Alliance 1\2 or the Champions games you should definitely give this one a try.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just play DS1 and never touch 2, 2.5 or 3. Just DO NOT. But watch the 1st movie it's great.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The reference to DS1 characters in one of the crypt was pretty cool. And because I am a huge fan of Dungeon Siege, I brainwashed myself to liking this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Accept this game for what it is - very simple; terrible random aiming; not great levelling engagement ... if you do that, and you want to switch your brain off and repeatedly spam hit fire button whilst spam dodging, the game is ... fine :-) ... don't pay money for it if you can avoid it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can see how this game was a let down for some people. Very different gameplay compared to the first two games that targeted the console game market and because of that created some hurdles for the game. Targeting enemies is not intuitive with a controller and there is no easy, consistent way to target in this game. You will frequently target the wrong enemy. The game looks and feels unpolished but I had some fun despite some of the drawbacks. Roll dodging reminds me of the souls games. Some…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the first game defined the desires of my childhood i don't think anything can beat that.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this does work for steam deck in docked mode
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Get it on super sale, like $5 or less. From the moment you unlock all of your character's abilities a few hours in, the gameplay does not change in any meaningful way. Once you've unlocked your character's "bread and butter" abilities there's little reason to do anything but spam them for the remaining 16 hours of the game with the only variation being the slight power spike of finding an especially strong piece of randomized gear. The writing failed to grip me in any way, and I felt…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DARE you to take a shot every time you hear someone say Jeyne Kassynder. You will die of severe alcohol poisoning 3 hours in. That alone gets this game an F.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not truly a Dungeon Siege title or sequel? Passable. Not recommending it in good conscience, though. Not even to myself - as others already pointed out, it did not age well. It was not that great to begin with. Wasn't too bad as it was painted in the past, either.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've owned this game for years and I have never been beyond the tutorial. I hated it from the start and after a recent go at it I still hate it. I love the first two releases of the game, but hate this one. What I like about the game is the graphics are a vast improvement over the first two releases and it runs in Windows 10 without any compatibility issues. That's it for what I like about it. There are so many things I hate about this game. The first is what made me quit the game in the intro…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a shame that this ended up being the 3rd Dungeon Siege, a series which under Microsoft at the time, rivaled even the likes of Diablo for me. This new game is less of that and more of a heavy story based DRPG (Diablo RPG) but without the replayability, the loot and levels. Even the co-op sucks. You can't just load your character up and play with a friend. You play with a character that's only valid in your friends game. Stupid, stupid changes ruined this series. Thanks, Square!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a nice RPG, more of a spin off of Dungeon Siege. The real Dungeon Siege 3 was released on PSP (Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony).
