Driftland: The Magic Revival is a charming fantasy strategy game with a really unique twist — moving entire floating islands with magic never gets old. It’s relaxing, visually beautiful, and surprisingly satisfying to build your empire piece by piece. Not super deep, but definitely a cozy and creative strategy experience. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3619019609

This game is fun in it's own way and has similarities to Northgard. Personally I enjoy single player but I am disgusted by the fact that I payed for it and it isn't even functional in online lobbies. Sadly due to this one simple fact I cannot recommend it to anyone unless you really want to experience a "single player" game for yourself and get lost in it for a while. But I initially bought this for the purpose of playing it multiplayer, in which it failed to deliver.

The game is... interesting. which is not always a good thing. the concepts are novel, but the execution is very flawed. every step of the process seems to be there to stop you from having fun. the reputation system looks like a rubber banding mechanism, but really it just punishes the player in last place - which, at the start of most campaign levels, is you. every war you're in gives -10% reputation, and every 5 population gives -1% from "overpopulation", a word which doesn't mean what the…

Driftland is a real-time empire-building game. It's OK, but it tries to spin too many plates. There's a lot to like. It has decent gamepad controls for a real-time strategy game. It is somewhat novel, and it's impressive how alive and fluid its map is. The map is broken into floating islands, and you use magic to move, modify, or even create new islands. Islands have specific finite resources, and you build industry to extract them. Naturally, you also build defenses, unit production…

POSTED: 6 JANUARY Game was pretty fun. Nice distraction and just playing campaign fully was good enough, story was more towards simple. There is a bottleneck with gold/food at the start but after a bit of micromanagement it starts being fun. Especially like the concept of flying islands and the effects of moving the islands looks so pretty, Of course there are some problems like the bottleneck but game mechanics are easy to understand as tutorial explains everything. Also at the final campaign…

It's okay. Needs more automation/features like 'recruit all available heroes' 'upgrade all such buildings', 'buy random/lots of skills with the money i have' or especially 'build cottages on available land.' it feels kinda like a loading bar simulator as it is, and I can't recommend. It's like Creeper World in that there's constant but unimportant micromanagement, stopping you from doing what you want to do.

At first, the game looks like it is going to be an interesting and complex fantasy builder with elements from majesty. After few minutes in the game you realize that is a very shallow game with very little variety. One game is enough to see everything the game has to offer. Zero replayability.

This game looked promising, but ended up being rather boring for me. There's very little room for different strategies or variation in gameplay, because there are very few upgrades that can change your playstyle and you can't control your units directly. Being able to move and capture islands is a great concept, but because of the extremlely slow pacing and dumb AI, this won't lead to exciting battles to gain control of an island. Not my cup of tea.

Boring. It tries to be a Majesty, but it doesn't have a soul. No humor, no story. You need tonns of workers who barely could feed themselves. Economy is really bad. Has a very heavy "mobile" feel to it. I pushed myself to the 3rd scenario, but could force myself to finish it. There are better game to play.

The idea is interesting, but the mechanics fall short. If you liked the Majesty games, this might be for you... but even then, things seem to be too hectic, yet at the same time too slow. Because enemies can teleport to you at any time, you're constantly flipping back to your base and trying to keep heroes in reserve for defense. (I learned that lesson after sending my heroes to attack the enemy stronghold, and they dithered around killing all the support buildings first... while the enemy…

Honestly a pretty neat sim game, but deeply flawed. I usually tend to dislike micro in RTS games so the concept of giving workers/military general orders and have them carry it out seemed neat at first, but then you realize that your military units are literally braindead. They will sit in place stuck on a rock while they get shot to death without moving. Since you aren't meant to control your units directly they just die. I lost once, almost twice on the first campaign mission because of it…

The graphics are great and the UI is really good, but unfortunately the gameplay was just really disappointing. The lack of direct control over units gets really frustrating, especially when you're waging war and you want to control all of your units to attack an enemy en masse. In reality, the game's AI just sends some of your units and they deal some damage to the enemy's structures - which is quickly repaired by the enemy - and it ends up prolonging the whole experience and makes it really…

VERY similar to the old Majesty series of games (which I really liked), but more complex. At first I was enjoying it, but the more I played, the more issues I found. One is the UI (on Macbook pro) is messed up - the hotspots for the buttons is off if you play in Desktop Resolution mode (so you can only click on the bottom of each button), the right side of the game is off screen if you play in Fullscreen mode, and Windowed mode prevents you from actually moving the window while the game is…

Its a fun game for like ~20 hours (also the time to finish 1 out of 3 race campaigns). But for me after that, even while that is switching to a different race with different buildings, units, and few magic spell, it felt like you are doing the same 10 actions every time, So for me after that it lost its appeal, still fun for the price I bought it at

This game desperately wants to be Majesty, but really missed what made that game so cool. Majesty was a wonky empire builder with an insane economy. You built an empire to cater to the needs of adventurers, whose successes funded further expansion. However, they frequently didn't do what you needed them to do, and oftentimes failed miserably. It was part of the charm. You did your best to compensate for their incompetence, stupidity, and occasional feats of heroic bravery. Watching them…

While initially intrigued by the ramifications of shifting terrain in a strategy game, I'm afraid this one is so off the mark as to not even warrant a playthrough; unless, of course, you are more into city builders than into RTS. You may then find this one up your alley. The slow pace, the inability to command troops directly, the unintuitive tech tree and interface (where is the rallying camp, again?), it all comes together to create an experience with so much unrealized potential. The…

I had no game breaking bugs and only CTD 3 times in 100+ hrs of play time. Those 3 times was in a late game map when I had a massive island chain and more troops than i needed. Thankfully the save game system worked well and I could reload my save and keep going to finish that one mission. I had no more CTD's after that. I liked the little touches the game had for each race and it was fun to play once I understood what to do to be able to support a large mounted army. The gameplay did get a…

I had a hard time getting into Driftland. I bought it in early access but only really played it years after the final release. I did finish the campaign and got 100% achievements, but the experience was a bit mixed. The campaign gives you most tools right away, with little buildup between missions, which made it harder to get invested. The setting is interesting at first, but it mostly comes down to moving floating islands around. The art style looks nice, though I spent most of the game…

It was worth playing the campaign once. You will learn how to play the game, probably, from your second game. After that, game will force you to solve one puzzle(within its mechanics) in each mission. However, unexpectedly, I was addicted even though there is not much to discover after 2nd mission. Still recommended while discounted, especially for the ones that have Majesty nostalgia.

With its emphasis on indirect control and a deep magic system, "Driftland: The Magic Revival" offers a refreshing take on the RTS genre. The game's unique setting of floating islands adds another layer of complexity and strategy, setting it apart from other strategy games.

A fantasy RTS with a unique premise that blends traditional real-time strategy with more indirect, management-style control. The game initially stands out as something different, and the concept feels promising—especially if you’ve played games like Majesty before. However, the execution lands in an awkward middle ground. It neither fully commits to being a traditional RTS nor fully embraces the indirect control style, and that in-between design doesn’t fully work. Progression and faction…

Been playing a strategy game called Driftland, mostly because it sounded a bit like Majesty (it isn't really.) But it's set on a world shattered by magic, which is honestly a cool and underused setting. You can even magically drag chunks of the shattered world around to build on them.

It is solid and clearly made for the single-player experience, considering that it has four campaigns with about 5 levels each. It seems to be more about fewer longer levels. Tl,dr - Driftland draws inspiration and game elements from games such as Settlers 1995, NetStorm 1997 and Majesty 2000 and generally improves everything. It is not as tedious as Settlers, not as stiff with controls as Netstorm and not as RNG-heavy and with better unit AI than Majesty. The whole…

Will Recommend Being a huge RTS fan (especially the older ones), I would definitely recommend this to others. It's a great game if you are new to the genre, as it gives a lot of time and space for players to expand and study base mechanics and units. The strategy part of this game, I would say, lies more in the planning/layout of building your base and resource management. The game is not that focused on unit control and strategy, as most of your units will automatically defend your base and…

Good and interesting concept, but implementation is too basic and requires changes to be engaging. Every combat engagement turns into a tedious meetgrinder where the main core mechanic of moving pieces of land turns into a predictable and boring pull of land towards your base. In every given moment, there's only one viable option of what to do next, so once you've played a couple of maps, you've seen all that this game has to offer.

Terrible design. A 4X/RTS game where you only have a few units (max 20?), cannot control units directly (=no micro), while giving only overall orders like explore or attack at some place. Obviously, the AI will screw up with suboptimal unit control. On top of that there are severe balance issues. A game about magic, and wizards are pretty useless combat units. A few spells and since they don't regenerate mana, they will be useless until you make them run back all the way to base and rest (good…

Literally after all you're building your kingdom on flying rocks which you can connect with bridges. Reminds me of Majestic where you hired heroes, but you had almost no control over them. Without a camp the only some units attack the assigned target and with a camp you have to attack with the raid option which takes years for the units to attack because they all need to gather first. Fun and relaxing RTS 4X. Quite original in some ways, like expanding your empire by conquering neighbouring floating islands. Might be worth increasing the difficulty if you're looking for an actual challenge. It's not bad but it feels rather shallow. First impressions are that it really hits a great compromise between indirect control, real-time strategy, and 4x components. It removes most of the tedious micromanagement you'd see in a 4x, both in terms of economy and combat... and lets you focus on the high-level mage fantasy. Really quite unique. Editing to say that 2 things really sour the experience: 1 - line of sight is short, and you can't do anything without LoS 2 - you can't directly control heroes, but you rely on them for too…
