Double Impact
Jean Claude Van Damme plays a dual role as Alex and Chad, twins separated at the death of their parents. Chad is raised by a family retainer in Paris, Alex becomes a petty crook in Hong Kong. Seeing a picture of Alex, Chad rejoins him and convinces him that his rival in Hong Kong is also the man who killed their parents. Alex is suspicious of Chad, especially when it comes to his girlfriend. From TMDB

unlabelledView post →There was a time when Van Damme made genuinely fun, entertaining flicks. I dropped out around the time of Death Warrant, but man... Double Impact was a hell of a good time. So stupid. So good. Seeing Van Damme try to act like a tough gangster guy was hilarious and precious.

unlabelledView post →TRIVIA: 'Replicant' was Jean-Claude Van Damme's 4th film where he plays a dual role after 'Double Impact' (1991), 'Timecop' (1994), and 'Maximum Risk' (1996). In the same year as ‘Replicant’ he played dual roles for the 5th time as two characters from different time periods in 'The Order'. (IMDB) 🖤

unlabelledView post →38. In the Mouth of Madness: Sam Neil goes coo-coo. I liked the crazy pulp-horror visuals 39. Laid to Rest: Nasty slasher film with some impressive effects. Takes itself a little too seriously for my tastes. 40. Double Impact: I should really watch more Van Damme movies. Stupid & fun tho a bit long.

unlabelledView post →One of the best parts in a Van Damme movie is when they explain why he has the accent. You get two of those scenes in Double Impact! You get two of every JCVD trope. It rules!!

unlabelledView post →My worst movie experience: DOUBLE IMPACT w/Jean Claude Van Damme. I had just turned 18 a few months before. Drunk asshole w/a spider web tattoo on his skinny arm was being verbally abusive after some girls told him "shut up," & somehow *I* ended up fighting him & his goon friend in the parking lot.

unlabelledView post →Double Impact. That you have had a movie podcast this long without an appearance from Jean Claude Van Damme is a travesty. Show some love for The Muscles from Brussels
unlabelledView post →The more disconnected from the plot the better, since the writers then really have to put the work in to justify it. Just like every great 80s action film. Double Impact springs to mind for me, where it was the dream sequence for a twin brother who thought his girlfriend was cheating on him.
unlabelledView post →Tonight's "new" movie: JCVD plays long-lost twins dragged into avenging their parents murder in DOUBLE IMPACT. It's not one of his good ones. It does however feature THE most caked-up, dummy thicc shots of JCVD in existence. Amazed he made it through the stealth parts undetected. Snake is jealous.
unlabelledView post →The cover art of "Jim Power in Mutant Planet" (Amiga/Atari ST/Amstrad CPC) features Jean-Claude Van Damme from the Double Impact movie and the "melting man" from RoboCop. I doubt the traces ends there, but I couldn't identify the rest.

unlabelledView post →I really need to get around to watching American Ninja, but now after reading that list all I can think of is 80s aerobics class JCVD showing off how proud he is of his Metal Gear Solid-worthy butt in Double Impact. It's oddly mesmerizing, like an earworm in movie form.🤣 bsky.app/profile/almo...

unlabelledView post →tough one. Suggest you consider Double Impact. One movie, twice the Jean-Claude Van Damme.
unlabelledView post →Watched Double Impact, my first Van Damme movie that wasn’t Street Fighter, and I have to say the action didn’t do it for me. Too much slo-mo, too many cuts, not kinetic enough. You can really see the influence on the Wachowski sisters, which—if you know my opinion on the Matrix—is not a compliment

unlabelledView post →Just finished watching JCVD’s “Double Impact.” I remember seeing it in the movie theaters with my dad. It’s bad but it was oddly re-watchable.

unlabelledView post →Lionheart is a strong Van Damme entry. Bloodsport remains my favorite of his, but this is a great one. I'm also looking forward to hopefully hearing Pete's thoughts on Double Impact. Due to random VHS access at that time, I've seen Double Impact more than any other JCVD movie.

unlabelledView post →I'm too eager ever since I learned how fun Van Damme can be. Can't believe my first movie I saw with him was Expendables 2. My top 3 right now are Bloodsport, Double Impact, and Lionheart. Really want to watch Hard Target soon.

unlabelledView post →Black Eagle and Legionnaire are the only two from 88-98 that I haven’t seen. It’s not the best one, but Double Impact is the most memorably bonkers film, just a weirdo Fever Dream. The kitchen table discussion with kids about his dick in Nowhere to Run is a special moment.

unlabelledView post →Blah blah blah JCVD's "Double Impact" is the real DD movie blah blah But seriously...it was pretty mediocre, but at least the Neo Geo Vs. fighting game is actually a fun game. Just another syndrome of how Technos wasn't doing enough quality control for how their brand was portrayed.
unlabelledView post →I saw this when it came out. A martial arts friend of mine 'dragged' me along to see it. I thought it was entertaining enough. My brother thought it was rubbish. Running gag with my brother: When evaluating a film, I'll sometimes sum up with, "It was good but it was no Double Impact".
