Death Note
Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects—and he’s bored out of his mind. But all that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. But will Light succeed in his noble goal, or will the Death Note turn him into the very thing he… From TMDB

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 100% of 14 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 8.5/10. The website's consensus reads: "Death Note is an exceptional anime that poses profound questions about justice and murder, all while delivering a supremely satisfying tale of tactical one-upmanship between a detective and killer." The anime was commended by Tom S. Pepirium of IGN, who said that Death Note's "heavy serialized nature" is what "makes the show so engaging and discussion worthy". Pepirium, saying that translating Death Note is "no small task", stated that Stephen Hedley created an English dub with "nothing clunky". He added that Karl Willems, director of…

positive · AI labelView post →It’s hard to recommend the first Hathaway movie because it really works best if you have the context of Char’s Counterattack beforehand, and that works best if you have the context of three Gundam series beforehand, but it’s “Gundam meets Death Note if Kira had just wanted to bomb the government”

neutral · AI labelView post →So I will say this without spoilers: after the turn that this show takes around episode 5, this is actually like if The X-Files, Persona 5 and Death Note had a baby. The way this show ultimately feels about both human apathy & internet behaviour rivals the commentary of Paranoia Agent. I LOVE it.

neutral · AI labelView post →Nothing more satisfying than showing a small group of friends the Death Note anime and everyone's reactions every episode being "?????????????" lmao Unironically such a good show
positive · AI labelView post →Joke's on you, the Death Note only works in a range of 23 days. ....I'm kind of a mega nerd when it comes to this series XD
neutral · AI labelView post →fuck it I'm rewatching Death Note. show slaps idk what to tell ya
positive · AI labelView post →Reflecting on it -- I really did enjoy the Death Note musical. I think basically if you pitch that what you want are a series of rock belters wherein Light is absurdly grandiose. And... yep it basically does exactly that. There's also a song for L being like... wtf magic is real!? I liked that too.
positive · AI labelView post →Seinfeld is like Death Note in that people can and often do script either series with conversations in the patterns and the cadence of their respective characters because both series follow a recognizable rhythm and humor in conversation. Both are extremely flexible for jokes.

positive · AI labelView post →Death Note is a very unique series in that once it starts getting bad you think "surely it cannot get worse" and it somehow finds a way.

unlabelledView post →It was SUCH a good show!!!! Fun fact Death Note was one of the shows I researched in grad school for my master’s thesis (which was musicals in translation) so it’s wild to me that 11 years later I got to be there for the first ever fully staged production in English. I’m honored!!!
