In those 13 years we've loved 7 dogs (said goodbye to 5) and moved across the country twice. So much life in a long and also short time. I'd choose all of it again. So today, we will watch the movie again. 💜

unlabelledView post →Found out my writing mentor passed away. Tom Cobb wrote the novel that became the film Crazy Heart earning Jeff Bridges an Academy Award. I was in his workshop when he was over the moon after taking a call from T Bone Burnett. This song, from the film, is one of my all time favorites. ❤️
unlabelledView post →Crazy Heart (2009). The cinematography and original score in this are outstanding (worth seeing just for those), outshining a middling story. Performances from Jeff Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal are top notch as always. There's even the surprise appearance of Colin Farrell with a pony tail #FilmSky

ACTOR WHO SINGS: Jeff Bridges, who released a few albums mostly post-“Crazy Heart.” The movie’s a batsh*t wild ride but very slyly humorous. John Huston’s a hoot and steals the film

unlabelledView post →So glad that it tickles your fancy. Knowing the song well by the time the film “Crazy Heart“ was released, I was absolutely overjoyed when I heard Robert Duvall singing it in a sombre/reflective scene of the movie.

We all talk about The Godfather and Apocalypse Now, but The Apostle, Falling Down, Bullitt, Colors, The Great Santini, Crazy Heart... All fucking masterpieces in large part because he was in them. variety.com/2026/film/ne...
unlabelledView post →For me it was Jeff Bridges. I did a movie with him and we had a pickup band (this was pre Crazy Heart) and we would hang after wrap on Fridays and jam. I also fucking adore Edie Falco. And Matt Damon was a prince too.

unlabelledView post →Crazy Heart. (I've liked other films from the same director and am cautiously optimistic about his Springsteen film, but this one just....does not work for me on virtually any level, except when Colin Farrell is on screen.)

unlabelledView post →Sat next to Kiefer at a movie (Crazy Heart) at the Angelika in NYC in 2009 and then ended up at the same bar. He recognized us and bought us a drink and we discussed how he should have been in the movie instead of Colin Farrell. Very nice conversation all in all.

Maybe cottage cheese & salad.
unlabelledView post →That’s exactly it. No matter the role — if he was in the film, his presence was reassuring. For example — Crazy Heart. Jeff Bridges and Robert Duvall singing while fishing in a little boat together in a film about authentic music making and its source in our broken but healing humanity…💔❤️
unlabelledView post →same director did Crazy Heart! Mystifying. I did think the movie was better than the book. The book made me angry bc it was 1/10 the making of Nebraska and 9/10 boring stories any Bruce fan already knows from other sources. I love Nebraska and would like to hear about the making of it. Someday 🙏

unlabelledView post →In total dad mode on my day off. Slow cooking a pork shoulder all day and #NowWatching (rewatching) True Grit (2010). Jeff Bridges truly is phenomenal in the film, but this and Crazy Heart really just took over his career. He’s basically been Rooster Cogburn for the past 15 years now. #Filmsky

unlabelledView post →a supporting win 35+ years beforehand (beating Ben Johnson??!) wouldn't have prevented Bridges winning Best Actor for CRAZY HEART. Also, my hunch is that his runner-up was Renner, not Clooney (film far too "light.")
unlabelledView post →Crazy Heart was a sneaky good movie, not only because Jeff Bridges was amazing in it, but because it was also a pretty accurate representation of the country music industry (along with Colin Farrell giving a scary good performance as a bro-country superstar) So…optimism?

unlabelledView post →Think he might have been nominated for The Last Picture Show a few years before that, but it was going to happen for him eventually. Crazy Heart was probably a fitting film/role to win it for after the length of time he had been in the business.

unlabelledView post →Watched Crazy Heart for the first time. Jeff Bridges was pretty great and has an excellent singing voice playing a broke down country singer. Movie itself was meh, Jeff won the Oscar. I think it should have went to Morgan Freeman for Invictus or Jeremy Renner for Hurt Locker.

unlabelledView post →Revisiting the movie Crazy Heart (2019). I can't stand the "new" country music but I can get behind the roadhouse/outlaw/honky-tonk style portrayed in the film. Jeff Bridges, Colin Farrell, Maggie Gyllenhall & Robert Duvall are so, so good. T-Bone Burnett & Ryan Bingham on the soundtrack.

unlabelledView post →I get that, and he was GREAT in that movie, but being older mabye I've seen more of his film but imho his BEST performance was in the 2010 remake of True Grit, and of course the movie that won him his only Oscar, Crazy Heart. If you've not seen these do yourself a favor and watch them, GREAT movies!
