I am giving this a thumbs up because I have spent so many hours enjoying it, but please read the full review before buying. The Dwarf Loop is Addictive Endless Replayability What keeps me coming back to Craft the World is the perfect gameplay cycle. You start with nothing, build up your base, gear up your dwarves, and hunt for map secrets…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The UI is too clunky/clumsy, and missing very serious qol features. -Too much clicking -Too little "inventory working space" for this amount of items -No information in game how to do something in core gameplay. Otherwise the game would be very enjoyable, for me it worked fine, no serious issues.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are serious game breaking bugs that worsen with the more DLC's you buy. The devs are releasing DLC content but not fixing any bugs. I caution you to stay away, and don't support any projects by this dev team. Early game bugs I have noticed: Structures spawning in the sky, dwarves spawning with "Who am i" names that can be changed, cannot apply skills to dwarves. This is all within the first 10 mins of playing a new campaign game. If you look at the Discussions, you will see many…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I kinda wish there was a medium on this one. I have a lot of hours in it, so I do really enjoy the game, I just don't enjoy buying so many dlcs. I get the devs need to make money, but $55 of dlcs on a $19 game.... idk
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Craft the World is a game that I have played on and off over the years. It's a very fun game but I never can play it for extended amounts of time because it can become very frustrating. I will later get into more detail why that is the case, for now let me tell you about what this game is about. In Craft the World you take control of a tribe of dwarves that use portals to colonize new worlds. You play in such a world and build a thriving dwarven colony. The world is made out of blocks which you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game hase an OP potion of knowlege, it requires a Library to craft it, but the Library isn't available without a DLC, there is a player created mod solving the issue, but downvoting till its fixed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The dwarves snore when sleeping, with no way to turn it off other than turning off all sound effects. If you're like me, this quite literally ruins the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dev should spend more time in UI and QoL, for example, - Ctrl + click to remove item from toolbar instead of dragging from bottom to crafting menu. - More item to see in crafting menu. - Simple hint when you have unused item (for the 1st time), you can DISASSEMBLE it 😂 - idk, this game is just old but you guys need to give more attention for things like this
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stupid little dwarf game wallahi i would play this again if i was stranded in cornwall with no internet
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First let me say I do like this game. I really do. However, the lack of any real updates other than fixing some bugs or giving us small goodies is a huge issue. I do not play co-op but am aware of the issues that still remain with that part of the game. Also, giving us a new item to mess with is great, if we could place the damn thing that is. That's rather important. Still haven't fixed the lag the dwarves get when you get far enough in a level. My system isn't crappy either. The dwarves can…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As of this review I have 841 hours in this game, it's my game that is always installed on my pc and laptop. It's the game I go to when I need a comfort game. The developers never gave up on it, even after all these years so I'm not either.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It has good elements. It just doesn't seem completed. It seems to be missing some genre-expected quality-of-life features like: --key rebinds (I keep trying to pause with spacebar, which cycles between villagers), --inventory visibility and management (ctrl/shift/double clicking doesn't move resources around. drag and drop seems to be the only way. Getting building materials onto and off of your hotbar feels clunky), --helpful tooltips (I didn't know I needed tables to eat. I still don't…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As an example of the amazing design this game has, if you try to place an obsidian harvester it needs to have all the dirt cleared out around it, but if you clear the dirt out your dwarves can't reach it to build it, and if you build anything like a ladder or bridge so the dwarved can get to the center to build it then those blocks are in the way and you can't build the harvester. Amazing design. On top of this there are a ton of things that just aren't explained in game at all which means…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought the game and DLCs on sale. The game concept is great, but needs a lot of work and refinement. On sale I would consider the game worth giving a try, but I just can't get over the cash grab design. The home screen is cluddered with DLC cash grabs, you would think this was a game designed for Mobile. I hope the devs give this game a rework and fix the bugs, instead of pushing out multiple DLCs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →please fix pathing and dwarves interaction. they stand there and get ded when they fight with low health. imps are still broke, they sleep or get glitched and dont pick up items. dwarves do nothing when there are items and task checked....
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the game. What I DONT like is that the dwarves don't protect their base! Maybe instead "Costumes", Fix the fact that the dwarves don't protect their base unless I click on attack. Maybe fix the portal, they will not use it. That has been going on for a year already. I have completed the tree countless times yet I can't get them to use that portal to go to the next stage. I love this game, been playing it for a few years now. I would love to see it fixed and working correctly.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oddly simple, yet slightly complex. Oddly fun, yet surprisingly chill. Oddly stands the tests of video game time, yet doesn't demand all your time. Cheap enough to give it a try. Priced fair enough to not get buyers remorse if it's not your flavor.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't want brown skinned dwarves any more than an African would want a white actor to play the role of Shaka Zulu. Dwarves are based on Nordic culture, they are a subterranean species, this is shoehorning modern politics into a fantasy setting & ruining my immersion.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Uncanny aah aesthetic makes this game unplayable
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Did not expect a game with such an uninspired and misfitted title to be such a blast. It is a truly hidden gem. Finished all 8 worlds (base and dlc) one after another. It goes like this - in the beginning it is pure suffering, then mid game starts to roll and endgame You roll over everything. I know - pretty much every game is kinda like this. But this is a feeling I got - suffering then godlike. There is a lot of mechanics here, tremendous attention to detail in a game, that seemed simple at…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely love this game which I've been playing for years. I always come back to it. I'm getting on in years and have yet to find a game I like anywhere near as much. Level 4 is my favourite and I really hope there is another level to come as good as that one. Not so keen on level 5. Play mostly on 4. Thanks so very much to the developers for continuing to support.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly I have been playing this for over ten years. it is a calming game with challenges. I would like to see some classes as the dwarves lack definition and individuality after the third or fourth playthrough and I would like to see them become more memorable. easy to play and fun to go back to when you just want a chill gaming experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It’s fun for the first few hours, but as you progress, the flaws start to pile up and eventually ruin the overall experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are positive things about the game, but I feel they are overshadowed by the negatives. Pros: + The premise is sound. A mix of Lemmings (the dwarves are very stupid), Terraria and a few other games. + The art style is decent. Bit generic, but servicable for sure. + Game loop can be pretty addictive. + It has Steam Workshop support. + There is a skill system for the dwarves, where they will improve based on what they do (mining, fighting etc). + The nights feel appropriately tense without…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game has an addictive loop, but there is far too many broken aspects to enjoy beyond the first or second level. The developer has ignored bugs and patches for about a decade, and keeps hucking unwanted dlcs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best game of its genre, it's sad to see that the developers don't want to expand on it as much as they could. Instead they just make a bunch of dlcs. Played since my childhood and till now.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →no idea how this has such positive reviews. UI is a nightmare
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just get Terraria instead. Craft the World suffers from clunky gameplay and lacks QoL. I still kind of like it, but it's wasting way too much time for basic things. I would not recommend it unless you really, really love crafting/gathering games and don't mind spending lots of time repeating and waiting.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A simple sideways crafter by day that has a sort of tower defense element by night. It came out more than a decade ago, but it still pulls me in now and again. DLC adds to the experience in subtle ways and it is fun to play with a friend via the Dig with Friends DLC.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Craft The World play Terraria... indirectly My name is G0disPink and I have a YouTube channel where I play and upload my first experience with a game unedited. Most of my videos are 20 to 30 minutes in length and this is my critique from my short time with the game. Similarities From Terraria Rimworld The Good Great art style, sounds and music Easy gameplay and user friendly controls Fun game to pick up on a break for a quick 20 minutes then save The Bad Can get hard if you try to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun nostalgia hit, but issues add up quickly. The ai is held together by hopes and dreams and needs manual input fairly often to stop gnomes from bugging out and walking into the same wall for 20 minutes. Definitely give it a shot at a discount, but keep in mind that this will not necessarily be a super smooth experience the whole way through.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A simple version of oxygen not included. Worth a play for a few dollars.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love my slave dwarfs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A simple cosy game that doesn't pretend to be more than it is. Sure, every world plays the same once you're underground, and if you survive the first night and monster wave then you'll rapidly outscale the difficulty. But the core loop of diggy hole, mine, refine, construct, to diggy better hole remains very solid and rewarding in itself, with near endless playability. Where I'll ding it is the amount of the game that's pointless, from armour that needs materials that you won't have…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game somehow manages to freeze my entire computer consistently because of its use of exclusive fullscreen. I know this game is a decade old at this point, but it still seems to receive updates and DLC, so the lack of a "borderless windowed" fullscreen option in 2025, now going into 2026, just feels lazy. This might not be so bad if you could resize or maximize the game window, but you can't, and the game only supports a small selection of hardcoded resolutions. 4K? Don't make me laugh,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If anyone's wondering why i'm giving it a bad review with this much time put into it, it's just a game i play while listening to podcasts and tbh, haven't really enjoyed playing it for most of this time, it's just a nice way to distract myself while listening to stuff... lol One of the biggest flaws of this game is the crafting system. There's no automation at all, you need to go in to the crafting screen, and manually find the ingredients for what you want to craft, and sometimes craft them…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of my favorite go-tos when I want a relaxing, creative game. Its replayability is amazing! I can't count the hundreds of times I've started new worlds, but it's still exciting each time I do. I'm impressed that the devs are still releasing updates with new objects and features after all these years.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is really bad, poorly built and buggy
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not too unpleasant to play overall but. several things missing. world generation is weird. maps are either too big vertically or too small horizontally. some QOL to be desired, crafting clunky. no creative mode. too many stages of gear, you usually won't finish them before getting to the next one. not much late game stuff to do. dwarves unreasonably stupid at times. translations sometimes approximate. some DLC features very out of place as if they were modded.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game requires a DLC for propre multiplayer and is using AI generated slop to showcase its new updates.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is great for people who enjoy the Dwarven style. At first it was a bit slow, but that was just a learning curve. Soon, you will have mining tunnels stretching across the map, machines drilling for you, smiths making weapons and tools nonstop, and a fortress that launches boulders, bolts and angry Dwarves at anything that attacks you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is just great :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →STORY : 3.5/5 GAMEPLAY : 5/5 GRAPHIC : 3.5/5 MUSIC : 4/5 OVERALL : 4/5 What I like : - Base Building ✓ - Base Management ✓ - Co-op ✓ What I dislike : -
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like Oxygen Not Included and Terraria, you will like this game. It is not perfect, and lacks some automation, but definitely a good game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game in not playable anymore. I played almost 600 hours on this account and it still have plenty of bugs. How can the developers keep on pushing out more DLC's when the base game still needs work? Most of the DLC have mostly negative reviews or mixed if anything. We know multiplayers don't work well at all and the dwarfs keep on getting stuck and not doing what they should be doing on a regular basis. Now, the base game, which at one time was pretty good, is lacking in support and some…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I get drunk and play this game, its super chill and i can make it crazy any time. I recommend for anyone due to costs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →who needs MINE when you can CRAFT the world!? this game is a masterpiece its 100% awesome and a 10/10 you need to find out for yourself when you play this. good luck!! dont attack goblins with bosses and monsters enabled the guy will come down with a dragon and destroy your dwarves
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't even try it unless on sale. The game is not bad, but the AI is terrible, the dwarfs will get stuck on crazy loops climb-fall where they will die, will ignore the priority tasks, and will stop mining an ore at 99% progress to grab a trash resource next to it that been hanging there for 2 h but suddenly got priority while mining the ore... Oh the list of dlcs just making the waste bigger...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ROCK AND STONE!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Always happy to find games like this where you command your little colony. This one is basically Terraria but your dwarfs do all the exploring and fighting for you. It's a lot of fun. The dlc situation feels a little scummy though. It's all pretty much stuff that should have been added for free to strengthen the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm sure there's a great game somewhere in there, but i've honestly never seen such a bad interface, it's comically bad to the point i stopped playing after i realized i spent more time figuring it out instead of having fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great fun little game, seems like there's some work to do with the multiplayer but lots of depth here.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely love this game, it is my most played game and I can easily lose an entire day to it. Devs are to this day coming out with updates and new dlc which is much appreciated.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great but bad. If it weren't the unresolved crashes, this could be one of the best games of this type.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To many bugs..... wont let me load game suddenly. No matter what I do to try to fix it it keeps bugging out in loading screen. This bug has been for years and moderators wont fix it for some reason. The game itself is cool, but developers sucks in the term of keeping game running smoothly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its a progressive game where you task a dwarf colony through day and night, played like a combied survival & RTS,haven't tried online feature tho
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been playing this game for years and it's always my got to. Thanks to the devs who continue to update it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is fun, Relaxing, Problematic, and a kind of puzzle. Been playing for a long time and I keep coming back. Each game map is different. SUCH a wonderful game and with all the DLC's, it makes it even more enjoyable! If you are looking for a good digger dwarf game built on a solid system, This is for you. Highly recommend!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Craft The World is a charming mix of sandbox building, strategy, and survival that feels like Terraria meets Dwarf Fortress, but more accessible. You manage a tribe of dwarves, gather resources, craft gear, and slowly build up a fortified base while defending against waves of monsters. The gameplay loop is addictive, progression is satisfying, and the quirky dwarf AI adds both humor and occasional frustration. If you enjoy base-building with a touch of RPG and automation, Craft The World is a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't possibly recommend this game for a few fundamental reasons. As this game acts like a dwarf fortress sim, where you can't control your dwarves, it leaves the game to control the characters instead, except the AI for them is absolutely broken, and pathfinding is a joke. There are times where you dwarf will be standing next to a ladder, but fall and hurt themselves for seemingly no reason at all instead of taking the ladder. If they are partially in water, they will swim next to an enemy…
