Cradle 2 the Grave
Gang leader Tony pulls off a major diamond heist with his crew, but cop-turned-criminal Ling knows who has the loot and responds by kidnapping Tony's daughter and holding her for ransom. Unfortunately, Tony's lost the diamonds as well. As he frantically searches for his daughter and the jewels, Tony pairs with a high-kicking government agent who once worked with Ling and seeks revenge on him. From TMDB

unlabelledView post →it's yet again time for my recurring consideration of how mad it makes me that the movie Cradle 2 The Grave isn't a sequel to a movie called Cradle
unlabelledView post →FUN FACT: The martial arts diamond heist movie CRADLE 2 THE GRAVE - starring Jet Li, DMX, Gabrielle Union, Mark Dacascos and Tom Arnold - was originally intended to be a remake... of FRITZ LANG'S M. I'm not even fucking kidding. That's Hollywood. Someone could make a book out of those studio notes.
unlabelledView post →you used to be able to call my local theater over the phone to listen to a recorded message naming off which movies they were showing and when, and I have burned into my brain the girl pronouncing Cradle 2 The Grave as if it were a sequel to a movie called Cradle “Cradle 2: the GRAVE”
unlabelledView post →Firm memory as a (millennial) teen: calling the local theater’s line and hearing the girl they had do the recording that week pronounce “Cradle 2 the Grave” as if it were a sequel to a movie named Cradle. “Cradle 2… the GRAVE”

Watched Cradle 2 The Grave (the Jet Li/DMX movie) with my excellent friend @sesamesquirrel.bsky.social and "The Walk" X-Files S03E07. At least Scully had that good Scully hair in that one. I do feel better. Thanks, Squirrel!

unlabelledView post →The only Steven seagal movie I watched was "Exit Wounds" and it was truly, terrible. When you consider "Romeo Must Die" and "Cradle 2 the Grave" are similar movies by Andrzej Bartkowiak, but are better, partially because they feature Jet Li and not Steven Seagal

unlabelledView post →114) Romeo Must Die I am genuinely suprised how good and solid and how much of a real movie this is, definitely better than Cradle 2 the Grave, as far as the Jet Li/DMX duology is concerned Also this movie is about a race war, kinda

Now, I'm not just talking about an actioner that willfully ditches physics and cultivates a couple of plot holes just to make an outlandish premise work, no I'm talking about flicks that are game-changingly dumb at every single level of their construction and operates on the the kind of levels of stupid where you can't help but sit back and take a minute to absorb just how breathtakingly…

unlabelledView post →Cradle 2 the Grave is one of those action thrillers that thinks stealing is a morally superior, victimless crime — if by “victims” we understand “casualties” — as long as you steal from criminals. We’re supposed to believe that Anthony Fait (DMX) and his merry crew of diamond robbers are decent folk because they claim to target “drug dealers” and “money launderers.” The latter means we’re also tacitly asked to believe that, unless he’s a hypocrite, when Anthony sells the diamonds he steals, he…

unlabelledView post →Cradle 2 the Grave is a movie that asks a really important question: can DMX take Jet Li in a kung fu fight?
unlabelledView post →Extremely dumb, but 'Cradle 2 the Grave' actually did entertain me. The humour and cast are the strongest parts to this film, it made me laugh a couple of times to be fair. Jet Li (Su) and DMX (Anthony) are the two leads, they aren't all that memorable in truth but at least do have a few good scenes. The main ones I'll remember are in fact two bit part roles in Anthony Anderson (Tommy) and Tom Arnold (Archie). Those two kept things comedic which worked well. Chi McBride is also solid as…
positive · AI labelView post →High on action, low on grey matter. I guess when push comes to shove it’s an action film that delivers the requisite supply of biff, bam and kerpow action sequences. Yet even allowing for the old “leave the brain at the door” requirement for such action comic malarkey, the script is too poor, the acting equally so, while the choreography is weak. The latter of which a big misstep when you have Jet Li and Mark Dacascos fronting the good guy/bad guy axis of the story. Plot pitches Li’s ass…
