Go ahead, try to change the controls to something that makes sense. "Up, Down, Left, Right..." nope.... "W,S,A,D?" Nope... okay, let me get my controller.. Calibrate and... oh, it's never calibrated well enough to change your controls. the moment you select the control you want to chage it's now "joy1 up." What's the solution, go into the game files and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ah... Carmageddon, I think many fans of this franchise got interested in the game through many visits to a friend or cousin who had the game on a pre 2000s windows computer. The game also works on a steam deck, although I found the framerates to be surprisingly lower than expected at times, but you can watch a snippet of gameplay here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKokKyonMqY Where pedestrians just can't walk away from your incoming vehicle fast enough and cows ♥♥♥♥ blood. Welcome to the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When driving as Max Damage expect human obliteration and general mayhem. Goal is to finish the race while scoring as many points as possible. You get credits for killing and destroying rival cars or stunts. Each race is time limited so make a good use of your time. Drive over barrels to extend time or get some minor power ups. After race is complete you can upgrade your vehicle or change it if you already obtained one. Game is quite difficult and not for the faint of heart. Basically what's not…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am super pissed. Love the game, but cannot accept the fact that this 26 year old game which I ran perfectly fine back in the day on a 166MHz 16MB machine now is barely playable on a six-core 3.9 GHz 16 gb RAM with a 4gb graphics card machine. I installed the fan-made restoration pack however still is not right and even it was - that is a fan-made patch and has nothing to do with Steam (and GOG for that matter) releasing a half-assed version and charging for it. Can't get over the fact there…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game but is tough to recommend this. Full of issues and even after messing with nglide to have better visuals the performance is all over the place. There is a android version that looks great and runs great, not so sure why it wasn't ported to pc yet. Can only recommend this if you actually have a ms-dos setup to play old stuff or a very old computer.

Back in 1997, Stainless Games predicted how the world would look like in 2026: fatal toxins will pollute the earth's atmosphere spreading sickness among the population, multinational corporations will turn the oceans into yellow acid pools, and living in a big city will be a synonymous of a violent death. A dystopian world indeed, and Stainless Games came up with a way to interact with this world: annihilate everything. To kill for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't care what year you live in. You release a game on PC you make sure it runs well too. Don't leave it to the customers to waste their time trying to fix your half-@rsed releases. I wasted like an hour on the nglide settings. Then the DosBoX controls rebinding. However nothing fixes the retarded control schemes for me.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really don't know why devs threw this version of Carma instead of IOS/Android version, which is more polished navigation and setting wise UI of mobile version was the best.Shame that we cant play it anymore, everybody has Android 14+ and modern versions of IOS that couldn't be played anymore(except emulation). So yeah that was huge disappointment when i bought steam version.Anyone who wants to have best experience in Carmageddon try emulate mobile version OR if you have device older than Android…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A janky and unoptimized mess that captures that edgy 90s nihilistic sense of a capitalistic civilization on the edge of collapse.. You drive around in a car and do laps, hit other cars, run over pedestrians or a combination of all three.. It boils down to a high octane mixture of WWE and Mad Max with an added dose of the 90s “edgy” tastelessness. Carmageddon is truly a child of its time and therein lies part of its problems. It is more or less a hassle to optimize on modern rigs, Dosbox works…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →imma just be real, this is the worst out of all carmageddons on the gameplay side. even the ps1 carmageddon has better gameplay and physics. all cars feel like they are made out of pure solid tungsten.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You're used to playing normal and simple racing games. Whether it's normal racing or even police chases. Now a racing game where you run over people and even cows, which gives you points and increases your time... Let's agree that it's very bold and innovative for the time the game was released. The characters: Max Damage and the iconic Die Anna They are unforgettable in the entire franchise! As for the cars... starting with Die Anna's car, her car's gameplay is like a "tank car" and you have…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Passion of my youth, this game literally knocked me out of the educational process for a year and forced me (hehe) to skip school. Tens of thousands of pedestrians and cows scattered into butcher shops, thousands of opponents scattered their spare parts on the side of the road. There was no Steam back then, and I can't tell you how many hours, days, or weeks I played, but the gameplay and compositions of Fear Factory stayed with me for the rest of my life.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The cars turn like crazy, the graphics are just pixels and the soundtrack is basically demanufacture but instrumental. Greatest game I've ever played
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Masterpiece, I'd trade this for any modern racing game. Cars handling doesn't hold your hand, wrecking enemies gives you satisfaction and so do the occasional car unlocks, which are always exciting. They just don't make games like this anymore, like it wouldn't even pass the rating system most likely, in our current snowflake woke age. Played this back in like 1999, came back just recently and had a blast. As for this particular Steam release, it's fantastic, you can adjust resolution and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I firstly played this game on n64, then on my phone, and now on pc. ITS THRILLING AND SO GOOD
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a great game early on in the first half of the levels, unlocking cars is random. The later levels are such a hassle with all the ramps and so MANY LAPS oh my god and don't even think of trying to destroy everyone when you have to go looking for them for minutes. The controls are utter garbage too. When you want to play a classic game though this is sadly what you have to go through. The core of this game is great, and a fun idea, but it get's dragged out so poorly. I imagine this was way…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Broken mess of a game. Used to play this as a kid so I knew what I was going to get Sadly the problems are technical wise. I can't even map certain keys or adjust audio levels, the screen goes crazy once in a while and you better avoid alt-tabbing all-together. The cars are also uncontrollable for some reason, as in half the time it won't read your inputs but the other half of the time it will.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ah, this brings back so many memories from my childhood, like when my mom came to check what her 2 really young kids were giggling about, and just to see a big herd of cows just squished xD Follow us for more stupidly fun [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45205361-Boom-Boom-Bros/] Massacres!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its great as much as i lean into masochism, i cant handle it. the physics and controls and some map in this game are atrocious. and i am also increasingly convinced that Carmageddon (1997) was a covert CIA project designed to raise the suicide rate among gamers diving in, i played for a few hours before noticing that the map design ranges from careless to openly hostile. press the Tab Key and all the fair play illusion collapses- other racers teleport around the map every moment you're not…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my favorite games of all time! Still endlessly fun to this day. Run over everyone you see and crash into your opponents!!! Although I didn't grow up on the original dos or 3DFX release I played it so much on my iphone 4S when this game used to be on the app store. Such a peak racing game that doesn't have many other replacements besides the sequels. Despite this title being almost thirty years old of age this game holds up phenomenally. To gain ranks & earn money to upgrade your cars…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Handling and gripping are worse than expected, and the control are too old to adapt, but generally a good game considering sale and map content.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved Camageddon when I was a kid and this came out but I can't recommend this version today. The insanity of running over pedestrians is still there but beyond the nostalgia this isn't a particularly good version. First, the game opens in DOSBox and it's in something like 320p. You have to open a config file outside of the game to raise the resolution. Fine, whatever. I can get past that as a one time set up. You alt-tab once? Too bad, black screen until you close the game and boot it back…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still fun, even after 26 years.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I ve played this game when its released, back in 97, and i was 11 that year. My mind was blown away, so it still does, when i play this super classic now, when i'm 35))) I like the feeling of punch in it, so satisfying) love it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It works on Windows 11, mid high tier. If the glide 3dfx is lagging and total ♥♥♥♥. Go to steam folder where Carma1 is, go to DOSBOX and find the .dll of glide2x and just rename it to anything else and it'll run. Remember, this is an OLD GAME. Textures may undulate when going slow, and it may only run in 60 frames. But this is the original that started it and what SCI which they had when they remade it with their recent game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Full of issues but a lot of fun. I had trouble getting it to start reliably. Sometimes the screen would just go blank and other times it worked. Changing between 3dfx and software rendering seemed to help sometimes. It's also a very low resolution game especially in software rendering mode but it still looks good because it has a lot of character. The cars wobble a lot and are hard to steer and it's annoying but I think it's part of what makes the game so much fun. The problem is that you can…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know if it's just me, but this game's controls are atrocious for what's supposed to be a racing game. Even compared to other games of the time like Ridge Racer, Cruis'n USA, San Francisco Rush, even Vigilante 8 and Twisted Metal, Carmageddon 1 (not helped by the fact that you're basically limited to Keyboard controls), feels less like you're driving a car, and feels more like you're driving a brick of lead that's been molded into the shape of a car. I get the cars are supposed to be…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a super cool game when I was a kid but it doesn't hold up today. Horribly unresponsive controls is the main culprit that makes trying to race hard and makes smashing and killing opponents so annoying it's just not fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I love the game itself, this distribution is a total failure. First, it doesn't upload saves to the cloud. Second, if you verify integrity of game files, you'll loose all your save games.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Carmageddon Max Pack is a chaotic classic that blends vehicular combat with dark humor and open-ended mayhem. Crushing opponents, running down pedestrians, and exploring bizarre tracks are all part of its signature anarchic fun. The gameplay feels dated by modern standards, but the freedom, outrageous tone, and destructive creativity still make it memorable. ⭐ Rating: 8/10 — brutal, unapologetic, and iconic — a cult classic that defined vehicular combat chaos. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terrible performance issues that makes the game unplayable. The music is extreemly loud and comes from external source, cannot be turned off or down form the menu.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3/5) When crazy met fun. Putting aside all the controversies, it's hard to describe how groundbreaking Carmageddon was when it came out in the summer of 1997. Open world style circuits, advanced physics, car body damage, hundreds of individual pedestrians, live action driver camera, action replay mode, and, most importantly, fantastic emerging gameplay with an endless number of wacky power ups. Sadly, the physics really hold the game back by today's standards, and vehicle…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Might be a skill issue but the remastered Mobile version on iOS and lower Android versions are better, for some reason you barely unlock any cars in this PC Version due to the system compared to those 2. Def a problem on Easy mode too, however in return you get cheats so it's "lose something good/get something bad, get something good in return". Copied from the Carmageddon Fandom Wiki. "A Stealworthy vehicle is one that can be added to the player's collection before the end of the game. This…
