Snake Eyes, 8mm, Gone in 60 Seconds, Captain Corelli's Mandolin, Windtalkers, Ghost Rider, Family Man, Weather Man, Wicker Man, Bangkok Dangerous. But then he nailed it, Stan, with National Treasure 2, the greatest movie of all time!"

unlabelledView post →The same creative team would make Captain Corelli's Mandolin a few years later and that's the same movie? Same general quality, so why didn't that win? Because the Weinstein machine had moved on. Late 90s all through the 2000s (except Return of the King) is mostly a joke of an Oscars era.

Is it weird that the author is one Nicholas Gage, considering who's in the film of *Captain Corelli's Mandolin* (which also touches on Nazis and communists?)
unlabelledView post →Especially Captain Corelli's Mandolin. The worst film adaptation of all time. Read the book!
unlabelledView post →I haven't seen it. But I can imagine it'd be hard to get the atmosphere of the book onto the screen. Good books do not always make good films; people were very disappointed with the film version of Captain Corelli's Mandolin, for instance.
unlabelledView post →tbf, seven or eight years from publication to TV/film adaptation seems to be pretty normal. To pick a couple of giant hit books from the past, Captain Corelli's Mandolin took eight years from book to screen, Gone With the Wind was only three, but it was famously optioned before publication!
